In the real world, probably not. But in Spidweb, where all sanity has been left at the door, yes. -------------------- "Like most of life's problems, this one can be solved with bending" Posts: 287 | Registered: Tuesday, August 19 2003 07:00 |

If you are used to playing even remotely modern games, then Exile will be far too painful to play. The gameplay of Avernum I think is much better too. -------------------- "Like most of life's problems, this one can be solved with bending" Posts: 287 | Registered: Tuesday, August 19 2003 07:00 |

I've actually seen him triple post, but I think we can blame the last one on UBB. It happens to the best of us (me). -------------------- "Like most of life's problems, this one can be solved with bending" Posts: 287 | Registered: Tuesday, August 19 2003 07:00 |

I'm fairly sure that if you can't buy it at the official site, then you can't buy it (I'll add fairly sure now to sound like less of an idiot if I'm wrong). -------------------- "Like most of life's problems, this one can be solved with bending" Posts: 287 | Registered: Tuesday, August 19 2003 07:00 |

There is a short description of each skill that pretty much sums up what they do. Classes have very little emphasis in Avernum. In fact, the only reason they are there is for new players who don't know what to put the skill points into at the beginning. Different classes get no unique attributes, so you can completely customize your characters. You put your skill points into whatever you like. Some variation of the premade party is usually best for newcomers to the Avernum series. (EDIT: If you have played one or two RPGs then they are all very user friendly, altough I'd recommend A1 first, just so you can enjoy the story as much as possible) [ Monday, September 19, 2005 18:19: Message edited by: Bender Bending Rodriguez ] -------------------- "Like most of life's problems, this one can be solved with bending" Posts: 287 | Registered: Tuesday, August 19 2003 07:00 |

If the Avernum graphics were to be changed, I would much prefer just a higher resolution than a complete overhaul. -------------------- "Like most of life's problems, this one can be solved with bending" Posts: 287 | Registered: Tuesday, August 19 2003 07:00 |

After playing A1 and A2 I've used nothing but singletons. The general consensus is that they are harder, and they are definitely more repetivive (much more resting and returning to town to sell things). But I think they are much more satisfying and simpler to play. -------------------- "Like most of life's problems, this one can be solved with bending" Posts: 287 | Registered: Tuesday, August 19 2003 07:00 |

Earlier tonight I was talking with my Indian friend and he said that parts of southeast Asia (especially Bengladesh, which is virtually all flood plains) experience hurricanes with flooding like this on a routine basis. The government tells them to evacuate, and they do. Part of the problem with Katrina is that some people didn't leave even though there was a warning. To their credit, though, I bet that these countries are much more prepared for this kind of thing. -------------------- "Like most of life's problems, this one can be solved with bending" Posts: 287 | Registered: Tuesday, August 19 2003 07:00 |

If you want a challenge, then go for a singleton. Are you replaying the game, or do just want an unusual party to play it for the first time? 'Cause if you are replaying it, singleton is definitely a fun challenge. I'll warn you, though, some things are very hard, like getting enough nature or arcane lore to identify items and open the caches. -------------------- "Like most of life's problems, this one can be solved with bending" Posts: 287 | Registered: Tuesday, August 19 2003 07:00 |
