Every pylon you touch helps, but don't panic if you miss one. On the other hand, it's not hard to find them. There's a rather obvious pattern to where the pylons can be found. —Alorael, who would be pleased if you could refrain from posting "smth" instead of "something." There is such a thing as a black Russian, and its a terror. No, make that a terrier. —Alorael, who nearly strayed into an area that was gray leaning towards black in pursuit of a pun. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

That's a relief. I'd hate to have to cancel my subscriptions to Thumbscrews Monthly. The January article "Making Flamers Writhe in Unspeakable Agony as you Set Fire to Them, Inflicting Horrific Physical Damage and Atrocious Puns Simultaneously" was marvelous piece of investigative journalism. —Alorael, who doesn't need your IP address when he can get your real address. Remember, TM knows it from visiting your mom (and if he doesn't, he can get her to tell him!). Then Zeviz can send his EVOL goons to break your fingers. I think I made a severe tactical error at some point in my past, and I'd really like to go back and rectify it. (This lack of graemlins can make proper communication surprisingly difficult.) —Alorael, who would like to speak with TM about it. How are your capabilities as a medium today, Slarty? I've never had any problems clicking northwest, but I also haven't had to rely on precise clicking much. Although I do have a laptop, it spends most of its time planted on a desk with a full keyboard hooked up. In addition to the convenience of a numeric keypad for Avernum, it's much easier to type anything with a full keyboard. —Alorael, who considers it an advancement that A4 doesn't move you two spaces when you click once. It could be worse! Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

I don't get robbed. I also demand exclusive access to the skribbane supply. I don't, however, participate in absurd forum arms races, so you're welcome to your virtual drugs as long as you're willing to endure my doubly virtual scorn, anger, and enmity. —Alorael, who is not a petty person at heart. Forgive him for his occasional lapses. He sticks out his tongue, rolls his eyes, and says, "nyaaah!" in the nicest possible way. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Oh, yes. Randolph. Despite the heavy implications of that encounter, I choose to believe that his epithet is an epithet in insult sense of the word. He's an ugly, human-looking nephar, so he gets called halfbreed. Describing a nephar as having nepil heritage is iffy, but I don't want any interspecies hanky-panky. —Alorael, who most definitely does want a chance to use the term "hanky-panky." It begs to be uttered! Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

His name is (nitpick) Nociduas, and I had the best luck keeping two spellcasters outside the room and two fighters pounding on the mage and his demon pal. Keeping the two separated so Nociduas can't kill both with one spell also helps. Don't be afraid to slow both of them a lot. If Nociduas manages to get hasted and stay hasted you're in a lot of trouble. In the end, the rewards for killing Nociduas aren't worth the fight. You're only doing it for bragging rights. Just make sure you don't forget to loot all the corpses lying around, because you'll pick up the Emerald Chestguard, an amazingly strong piece of armor that doesn't encumber you. It's just what your mages need! —Alorael, who also wouldn't forget the necessary blessing, hasting, shielding, and so on that must precede every battle. Augmentation is practically essential if you don't want a spell to take out characters in one hit, and keeping your casters out of sight is the only way to keep them alive. Mutants aren't crossbreeds. They're mutants. Humans and nephilim are probably best classified as primates and felines. Primates and felines do not produce offspring. Slithzerikai don't even have the same reproductive anatomy. A1, A2, and A3 use the same engine, more or less. So do G1, G2, and G3. How much more similar would they have to be to qualify as expansions? —Alorael, who is sure that the vahnatai lands look exactly the same as they did in A2, only probably more built up from the intervening years. Rentar's war machine wasn't in lands belonging to the vahnatai before they began their plagues, so smashing all the factories makes no difference. The script is a legitimate work of parody, so I'm quelling my righteous urge to complain about my fictitious counterpart's behavior towards Goldenking. I really don't do sharing, especially when I'm armed and all skribbaned up. Newbie : Noob :: Oldbie : Ooldb No newb lasts that long because nobody wants to be called an ooldb. —Alorael, who would like to remind everyone present that this is a family forum. Take your licentious and libidinous behavior elsewhere, and for heaven's sake don't show your noobs in public! (Noobs take note, please.) Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

In E1 he asks you who has the largest anvil. In A1 he asks you to visit Bargha's library. The priest in the ToM gives you the anvil quest, I think. —Alorael, who isn't very certain of that. Among other problems, it makes absolutely no sense. Priests don't need to have anvils. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

No, you're missing his four threads that had titles ranging from nonsensical to calling for the banning of DV. The text of the posts were random strings. Three had no replies, one had the typical angry reply. I deleted all of them as eyesores, and the UBB did what it does best: glitch. —Alorael, who forgives Argh for all his crimes. Unfortunately, forgiveness and dismissal of charges aren't the same. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

This bug has been encountered many, many times. Jeff "fixed" it before by making the barriers in Fort Emerald impossible to dispel, but apparently that just makes it easier to get yourself trapped by going through Fort Saffron. Another day, another patch? —Alorael, who feels bad for poor Ghall-Ihrno. Abandoned so many times by adventurers who are conditioned to retrieve everything they see! Required skill levels are in the manual, and the required skill level is also shown with the spell description if you mouse over a spell that you can't cast in the casting menu. —Alorael, who only rarely ran into spells he couldn't yet cast.
