Arancaytar believes that Slartucker is talking not about himself, but about the character based on him in Dikiyoba's story. Since they are two different entities (Slarty controls the first, and Dikiyoba the second), it would make sense to speak of them in the third person. :)

Aran is correct. Regardless, Marlenny, we have discussed it numerous times, and each time I have reminded you that I am not your boytoy, and am not interested in your rules for behavior :P

Slarty, you know that I'm not interested in you being my boytoy; I already have my own. I just think that it would be benefitial to the community if the third person thing would end with Dikiyoba (bs, I just hate it).
Ps. Alex, I swear I didn't notice it until you mentioned it.

My interventions are never smarmy.

—Alorael, who reiterates that as the second person to jump on the person gimmick wagon, Diki is obligated to use the second person. He himself should be using the first person, but he does. Signatures are different.

Listen carefully, I shall say this only once. ( 'Allo! 'Allo! ) Dareva, too, is pleased with that incarnation, and eagerly awaits more comic strips.

Be original.Speak "Second Person".Its very confusing though, because It would be talking to oneself :Your name is Shuan. You are addicted to video games .You are speaking second person very badly.

Yes, you are.

Marlenny: What is it with third person? Do you not understand it easily, or do you just want things to stay original around here?

When you speak in the second person, you find it very easy to understand. However, others, such as myself, find it very difficult to understand when you speak in the second person. Therefore, you will never again speak in the second person.

Mwuhahaha!!! (Wow, this is your second evil laugh of the day. You made your quota!)

I think this burst of creativity is because this board attracts creative people. Once one person started something and found others accepting, other people created something of their own.

Dikiyoba already has a friend who uses second person to refer to himself occasionally (though he is not on this board). Therefore, third person was a natural choice for Dikiyoba. Dikiyoba was using third person before Dikiyoba ever came to the boards. Unfortunately, there is no proof of that since this board is the first place that Dikiyoba's third person gimmick was ever put into written form.

They feel that they are being limited to the singular and they need to expand to plurality. When this has happened, their rejoicing will echo from the ramparts.

Slarty, when are you going to make more of these fun comics? I am sure you got a lot of material from chats, if not from the boards themselves.

I'm sure some of it comes from suggesting an idea and some of it comes from saying something really memorable. The rest of it comes from Slartucker's imagination.

Dikiyoba is still pleased with Slartucker's work.

I may not be really good at English, but I can understand third person easily. What I don't understand is the need for using it. I think Dikiyoba is cool, I like his posts, and his scripts are funny. If he or anyone else want to use the third person thing is none of my business and they are more than welcome to do so. I was just expressing my feelings towards it.

That ought to be in the constitution, really. If you lie to start a war, or ignore a hurricane, or use the third person, boom. Corn up the ass.

I cannot bear the thought of you not understanding something Thuryl, so if it helps you I'll have you know that John was not refering to just any corn, but dry corncob :P

Is this your quote? Did you steal it from someone? Because it's awesome...

On the subject of the comics, it appears that the demon of good taste has yet to appear on the boards. I blame Linda.

As shown in my signature, the quote was originally written by John/Sarachim. The lovely "Use the third person" part was added by Slarty.

As per the comic, It was hilarious. Someone has to show Thad that nothing good can come from posting all those logs :P

The quote is Sarachim's. Marlenny grabbed it for her sig, and I updated it to account for her prejudice against third person.
