Probably not. Polaris has this sort of deal, and it's not very useful.

And it's not like anyone will actually post there...

The question that still goes unanswered, is why is Argh listed as the creator of this topic?

Here's my theory: Posts have their own unique, self-incrementing index (which is never displayed). The recent posts feature in a profile uses this index, and has the posts' corresponding numbers saved somewhere. When *i deleted the last posts, their keys were reassigned to the posts made immediately afterward (Very Bad Thing in database design, but that's UBB for you). So the recent posts in his profile still point to the old keys, but the keys now point to new topics and posts.

It's just a theory. Also, it's just a more elaborate way of saying "Because UBB sucks".

--

Another wtf I stumbled over along the way: Have you noticed that the links point to the post directly (ie, the place on the page via the "#" suffix) only if the post is not on the first page? If the post is on the first page, the link points to the top of the page. If it's on any of the following pages, the page will automatically scroll down to the post.

The first is obvious (although that should be "non-existant"), but where do you get the second from?)

At least when I was looking at Argh*'s Recent Posts list, the three 'squatter' posts by other people there were all remarkably similar in style and substance to Argh* at his most Argh*-ish. I was amazed that UBB had somehow found these stray posts such an appropriate home. If the achievement were reproducible, it would be the greatest advance in artificial intelligence since the invention of the bit: an automated filter for noobishness.

Why would we need that? We got Aran after all :P . His site is quite useful. Besides, do you really want more evidence of everything you've ever written on the boards?

I am, right now what, 13 years old. I think I can write understandable english, although not without misspellings, as I am from Finland. I actually like finding people from the internet who can write. That's how I usually check if I should start visiting a forum. Not too good succeeding percent.

And as always, the fact that a young Finn can out-English many Americans of all ages should be considered a mark of national shame.

Welcome to Spiderweb! Leave your sanity at the door.

Lack of sanity though, does not neccessarily grant the right to behave insanely, so read the CoC abide by it's rules and you may stick around longer then your friend did.

It is best not to speak of our methods lest people would know how to evade them better.

How does one know for sure?

A "friend" showing up after somebody was banned is a very reliable indicator. There are also other ways to figure out who is using a secondary account (posting styles, opinions and topics of conversation, etc.), so in most cases you don't even need mods' "special methods".

That was awfully fast... I'd never have expected him to try again so soon.

Nonetheless, well done Stareye.
