OOC: I have to get this one going again.

IC: Celisto is talking things over with Oscevello, trying to come up with a plan when a man approaches her.

Eirik: "Excuse me, Celisto, is it? I was wondering if you had come up with a plan to help this town."

Celisto: "Well, I made some general observations of the people here and how it would be best to split them up in the town evenly. We have at least one hundred guards and only twenty adventurers. I have a basic plan, but I need everyone's cooperation in order to make it work. Now, I find the best thing to do is send at least twenty soldiers to each point of the town to guard that area from any approaching undead and necromancers.

I observe that it would be a good idea if we send at least two or three adventurers to each point as well. We will need to keep some soldiers around the inn and the shrine while a few of the adventurers go to the cemetery and a few help find the hidden inner sanctum of this temple which is obviously below our feet. But first, we had better decide who is going to the fringes of town, the cemetery, the inn, and the underground temple."

Oscevello gets everyone's attention and explains the plan. Then he gets to the part about choosing who goes where.

Oscevello: ...and so we need to decide who is going where and what you are going to do when you get there."

OOC: It is up to everyone else where they want to go and what they will do while they are there.

If there is anyone out there considering getting Windows XP Professional, I advise against it. Windows XP Pro has lots of bugs in it and certain types of software refuse to work on it. Stick to XP Home Edition, it has less bugs and works with software that XP Pro refuses to work with. I found that out the hard way and I am waiting until I get enough money to pay for Home Edition. I regret ever getting XP Pro. It sucks. IMAGE(Spiderweb Software Boards Windows Poll1_files/tongue.gif)IMAGE(Spiderweb Software Boards Windows Poll1_files/rolleyes.gif)

Well, I don't know about haunted, but there was this double house my uncle bought during the summer. My uncle let my mom take what she wanted from the two houses and I was able to go with. I must have a sense for the presence of spirits because on the one side of the house, I got this sense of some sort of presence lingering on the one side. I found out on another visit to the house that there were some leg bones stored in the attic. Once they were removed, and I visited again, the presence was gone.

It creeped the heck out of me to be on the one side of the house so much, that I resorted to carrying a cleaver around with me in the house while looking through the stuff in it. I sometimes sense a presence in my own house, which happens to be over 125 years old, and it creeps me out as well. But the presence is nowhere near as strong as it was in the house my uncle bought.

I'm sure there are haunted places in PA, but I don't get around enough to discover any. Anyone else here ever feel a presence of a spirit? You will probably think me crazy, but I believe in psychics and spiritual phenomenon.

I mean starting an RP based on all the Exile games in the Exile Message Board instead of in the General Message Board. I just thought that it would be interesting to start an RP there. I haven't been here long enough to know if it has ever been done before.

Would I be allowed to start up an Exile RP in the Exile Trillogy Message Board? Not now, but some other time. That board is almost dying and needs a little action. Has anyone ever tried to create one there? I would appreciate some comments, good or bad, doesn't matter to me.

Unfortunately, I had to leave out all the other things I would like at one of my parties as it would break the code of conduct. OOC: There is no way I am staying in an area that is excessively dark. I myself am not afraid of the dark. I fear lack of light and what I might encounter in the dark. I am being truthful there. I will give my character a similar property. Except she will be like the opposite of an RP vampire. She can stand darkness, but only if she is with another person. If alone, she will go psychotic.

IC: "Are you insane!!!!!? Stay out here?!! In the dark?!!! You're nuts!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!"

Charlotte grabs her suitcases and runs for dear life towards the other end of the arched trees as the light was fading and night was coming. She knew that it was five miles to town, but she had to get there before dark. Suddenly remembering something, she stops running and pulls a figurine from her pocket. It is a figurine of a horse. She places it on the ground in front of her and steps back a few feet. She then speaks a few words.

Charlotte: "Alegretto alimaya santos el christos de vermenta!!"

The figurine begins to glow with a bluish white light and begins growing bigger and bigger. When it reaches the size of a normal horse, it stops growing and begins to gain life and color. The light suddenly disappears and a full-grown horse stands in front of her. It has a reddish brown coat and appears to be like any other horse. Charlotte climbs on and waves her hands. Her suitcases float up on either side of her and into her hands.

She gives a click with her tongue and the horse begins to gallop towards the end of the arch of trees. It picks up speed and begins running impossibly fast. Soon, fire begins to appear under the feet of the horse as it runs towards the town. The demon child left behind can only stare, but it begins running after her at an inhuman speed. Though he can only run half as fast, she finds it rather unnerving that he possesses such abilities. The horse makes it to town inside of 15 minutes, just as the last of the light was disappearing. The town has lanterns burning, so at the moment, she feels she can stand the slight darkness as long as she has her fire mare to keep her company.

She doesn't see the adventurers yet, and she knows the demon child will reach her soon. She chants a few words and her suitcases float down to the ground. She dismounts the horse and thinks for a moment. It will take a while for her fire mare to transform back into the figurine, so she decides it would be best to feed it in the meantime. She goes into the inn to ask for help and finds no one in there. As she looks around the main room though, she can see torches are burning, a fire is roaring away in the fireplace, and food and drinks are on the counter.

Puzzled she goes to look for a stable. She soon finds one and sees that there are several horses in the stable, but no stable hands. She senses something wrong about the horses, but decides to just grab some hay and get back to her fire mare. She brings a manger with her and sets it down in front of her mare. While placing the hay in it, she hears the demon child approaching the town. However, something else gets her attention. She sees a door that's completely open and the shadow of a fire burning within the room.

She walks over to the door and looks into the building. It is a small home, and looks like that of an average peasant. But the fixtures and such in the building aren't what catch her eye. Her eyes open wide as she sees a body lying on the ground. She rushes over to it and examines it. It is the body of a woman, and she is lying directly in front of her cooking pots. Charlotte observes that the woman must have been cooking because of the wooden spoon in her one hand and the traces of spices in her other.

The woman's veins are standing out greatly against her pale tanned skin. They aren't their usual color either. They are green instead of blue and the woman has a look of agony over her face. When Charlotte tries to move her, she observes a green slime adhering to the woman's body on the underside. She gets up, finds a sheet on a shelf and a jar from the kitchen counter, and walks back over to the woman. She uses the jar and a spoon to collect some of the green slime. Then she covers the woman's body with a sheet. The demon child enters the building just as Charlotte is leaving it.

She ushers him out and shuts the door. Her fire mare is still eating hay and the adventurers still haven't arrived. The demon child starts asking her questions, but she decides to shush him. She then grabs her suitcases and enters the inn.

IC: You know, maybe we will find some more of these bodies in other places in the town. Perhaps we will find some in the inn. Sorry for the length of this post. But it should give us an idea of how our situation looks in the town as we all enter it.

OOC: Charlotte is a distance away from the group.

IC: Charlotte continues walking on with her suitcases when she realizes she is alone. She turns around and sees that everyone else has started walking across a field towards a town that is at least two miles away.

Charlotte: "Fools, they should have stuck with me on the road. They shouldn’t cross a field like that, as it is getting dark. Oh, well. I will stick to the road and meet them in the town when I get there."

With that, she turns back around and continues walking. She enters a part of road where there is an arch of tree branches overhead.

Charlotte: "Oooh, that is very pretty, but rather creepy. I don't the lack of light through here. It doesn't seem to be penetrating the living ceiling above me very much. Better be on my guard. Seems like a perfect place for an ambush."

She carefully makes her way along the dimly lit road, watching everything around her with eagle eyes. The only light penetrating the ceiling 15 feet above her is in tiny shafts of light and at the entrance behind her and exit in front of her. She then hears a ghastly howl from the field that the adventurers are crossing.

Charlotte: "That sounds like a hound. A rather huge hound. Can't be that then. Hmmm. I think I had better move a little faster. Fools, they are about to encounter it, whatever it is."

OOC: You can give her an ambush if you want. Just don't cause her to lose her suitcases. They are important to her. I hope to hear something about the howling.

OOC: I have an idea. In the Exile 3 game, this creature scared the hell out of me when I first came up against it.

IC: Schostas: "OH, DEAR GOD!!!! IT CAN'T BE!!!!"

The others, including the evil monks saw the creature come into view as well. It was huge and at its full height, its head hit the ceiling, or at least what could be its head. It had a long and wide body and its skin was gray and slimy. It must have been at least 35 feet long and 5 feet wide. It was surprising to Rasil and Arrow how fast it had moved through the caverns after them once they saw its actual size. A creature like that, to them, shouldn't be that fast for its size. One of them, out of fear, speaks up.

Rasil: "What the hell is it!!!!?"

Schostas and Shadow Wolf knew exactly what it was. They had seen this creature before in their travels, despite the fact that they didn't know each other. By chance, both Schostas and Shadow Wolf answer at the same time.

Schostas & Shadow Wolf: "IT'S A DARK WYRM!!!"

Surprised at saying it together, they both look at each other.

Arrow: "What the hell is a Dark Wyrm!!!!?"

Shadow Wolf continues with Schostas breaking in every now and then as they both try to position themselves effectively while explaining.

Shadow Wolf: "A Dark Wyrm is a creature that lives in the caverns and has made its way to the surface over the years since the years of the Exile Campaigns..."

Schostas: "...and it's bite has a draining effect on the body. It drains your energy and uses it for itself. If it could eat you, the acid inside it would digest all material and flesh. Only bones would be left..."

Shadow Wolf: "...and it is very hard to kill. It moves with an unimaginable speed, despite its size. It can spray acid, so don't get in the way..."

Schostas: "...or you will find yourself as a puddle of digested fluids on the floor. And you certainly don't want that, do you? We must stand together in a formation around it..."

Shadow Wolf: "...and attack it with everything we have! We must kill it or the inn is doomed!!"

The cellar is big and there is plenty of room for a good fight. However, with this creature as big as it is and with its speed, the battle will be very difficult.

OOC: You wanted your scary creature and hard to beat creature. So there it is. Enjoy. It is the most frightening creature I know of in the Exile games. It makes a very formidable monster.

OOC: My previous news was left out so I will say it here.

IC: "Wait, wait, wait!! We can't go back to the guestrooms. Frauline and I discovered something while we were there. There are secret doors behind the area where there were tapestries hanging. If we go there, we will be attacked during the night. I suggest we sleep elsewhere. I have the only intact room and we can't all sleep in there. It is smaller than all the others and is intact because of the wards I placed on the tapestry and the door."

One of the adventurers: "What do you mean there are secrets doors in that building? How can you be so sure?"

Frauline: "Because while we were walking to his room, we could hear faint voices around us seemingly coming right out of the walls. His room had the only tapestry still hanging in the wall because of the ward he placed on it. Now I guarantee you that it is not safe to go back there. We need to find somewhere else to go."

OOC: That should clear up the info left out from last time.

OOC: Now to get Schostas back downstairs.

IC: Schostas sits up on his bed and stands up. He finds it hard to believe that he was just in another coma. He goes downstairs and sits at his usual table. The bartender brings him some fried mushrooms, some poached sole, and some Mogen David wine. Schostas gives smile of thanks and digs in. He hasn't eaten anything for almost a day, and eagerly gulps it all down. When he finishes Neris comes to his table and takes his dishes. Neris gives him a smile but soon it drops. She walks up to Schostas and whispers something in his ear.

You can tell it was something serious, because Schostas shoots up out of his chair and goes to the bartender.

Schostas: "What is this I hear about some monks having moved into the cellar?"

Bartender: "Well. While you were in your coma, they showed up. They demanded the cellar for privacy and moved in there. They don't want to be disturbed, and I find it peculiar."

Schostas: "I shy to think of the ramifications of what you might have just done. I better check it out."

Schostas goes to the cellar door and quietly opens it. He sees the monks in the middle of a prayer session. He listens intently and hears them prayer for the safety of Lance's kingdom in the battle. He quietly closes the door and returns to the bartender, with a look of horror on his face.

Schostas: "Get all the fighters in here now!! That is no normal group of monks as I have suspected. They work for the Lance kingdom and are...well, Mad monks!!!” They are obviously planning how they will go about attacking us from the inside. This must be why both sides are so quiet. One is almost immobilized, and the other has sent spies and assassins to deal with us. We need to work fast!!"

The bartender tells the others and the fighter are gathered up. They all sit down at tables and begin planning what to do.

OOC: It would be nice if we could get Arrow and Rasil back to the inn.

OOC: I'm not staying in this creepy town.

IC: Charlotte looks around the inn and realizes that it hasn't been used in a long time. She looks at the child more closely and can tell that he isn't human. She feels right away that there is something terribly wrong with this child and decides right then and there to leave the inn. She picks up her suitcases and walks out. Some adventurers ask her what she is doing, and she stops dead in her tracks. She turns around with a frightened look on her face.

Charlotte: "There is something majorly wrong with this land. My two siblings are on this continent somewhere, and I need to find them. Not to mention this town is dead. I sense that there is a terribly evil presence here and I am not staying in this town for one solitary night. I wouldn't get too close to that supposed child if I were you. I sensed a shape shifter. I am going on to the next town. There is nothing here for you or me. Are you going to join me or not?"

She waits for a response.

OOC: I am going to make my character very active and like a watchdog for the others' safety.

OOC: Wha? I didn't absorb that info.

IC: Many of the adventurers in the room just stare at Aran with puzzled expressions. Frauline is the first to speak up.

Frauline: "I hate to seem like the stupid one of the bunch but I have no idea what you just said. Can you say that in Layman's Terms?"

Raitt: "Oh, never mind. He knows nothing about how to use the power crystals to make a shield. Maybe my spell book has some information in it. Some spells I had skipped over to read the more important ones. Come with me Frauline. I don't want to go back to my room alone in case there are some Graywraiths hanging around yet."

Frauline: "Alright. Excuse us please."

With that, Raitt and Frauline leave the Tournament Hall and head back to the building with their rooms in it, leaving the other adventurers behind in the Hall. They soon arrive at the building and find it has been completely ravaged. Smoke is pouring out of various windows, a horrible smell fills the air, and belongings are strewn everywhere.

Frauline: "Oh, dear god!!! They've ransacked the building!!! We must tell the others!!"

Raitt: "Wait!!! Unless I am very much mistaken, they couldn't have gotten into my room. I put very powerful wards on my door. We better check it out first."

Frauline: "Well okay. I can defend myself if need be. Let's go."

With that, Raitt and Frauline enter the building and walk down the hall. There are fires burning in some of the rooms and belongings are lying everywhere. As they near the end of the hall where Raitt's room is, they can hear voices, but can't tell where they are coming from. Raitt puts out his hand and stops Frauline from proceeding.

Raitt: "Can you hear that? Where is it coming from? I am not taking any chances. Give me your hand."

She obeys and Raitt pulls a little bit of green powder from another pocket. He throws it up in the air and chants some words. Suddenly, both Raitt and Frauline disappear. Well, they turn invisible.

Raitt: "Don't let go of my hand until we reach my door and get in the room. Understand?"

Frauline: "Crystal clear."

With that, they precede the rest of the way down the hall and come to Raitt's door. All around them, they can hear the sounds of talking, but it is faint and they can't tell where it is coming from. Raitt waves his free hand and chants some words. There is a soft metallic click and Raitt pulls the key out of his pocket. He unlocks his door and opens it. Everything is just as it was and nothing is missing. He shuts the door behind him and locks it. He then lets go of Frauline's hand and they both reappear. He goes to the table and picks up his spell book. Then he hands it to Frauline.

Raitt: "Can you hold this for me? I need to check something out. You see that tapestry? I placed a ward spell on it and it is still intact. Did you notice anything strange as we came down the hall?"

Frauline: "Well, no...wait. I did notice something. None of the other tapestries were still hanging up. I suspect that yours is still there because they didn't get into your room and tear it off the wall."

Raitt: "Nothing of the sort. I believe that behind that tapestry is a secret door. I put a ward on it just in case. If there are secret passages in this building, then that would explain the faint voices and why we can't tell where they are coming from. But now we should get back to the others and let them know what has happened."

Frauline: "Yes, I agree. I certainly don't want to stay in this building any longer."

They link hands again and disappear once more. They exit the room and Raitt locks the door behind him, and once more places a powerful ward spell on it. Then they head up the hall and out of the building. They continue holding hands to avoid anyone seeing them and eventually make it back to the Tournament Hall.

OOC: I think this RP should continue getting weirder and weirder.

OOC: Oh, boy, Kel-Aziz joined. This could be a reunion.

IC: Oscevello and Celisto quickly approach the shrine and soon it is in sight. They land in front of it and see a glow within. They head inside and are confronted by a decent-sized group of adventurers. Celisto is the first to speak.

Celisto: "Hello. I am Celisto and this man is Oscevello, an old friend of mine. We have a serious situation approaching us in this town. We have been attacked by undead, but no one seems to know what the source of all the evil is. This man does and he will explain it all to you."

Oscevello: "This started from the conquering of a certain Overlord."

Kel-Aziz sits up and speaks out.

Kel-Aziz: "Overlord? Are you speaking of the same Overlord that attacked a town in the caves?"

Celisto suddenly recognizes the man in rags that stands before her.

Celisto: "I know you!!! I saw you in my crystal ball. Most likely, you never saw me down there in that town because I kept myself hidden during most of the fight. I only came out at the end of the fight to investigate the body of the Overlord. It may shock you to know that that was not the body of the Overlord."

Kel-Aziz: "What? You're kidding right? You mean to tell me that we fought to save that lousy town to end up killing someone else? Well if that don't beat all. Damn. All that time wasted. If I had kno..."

Celisto gets annoyed and interrupts him in mid-sentence.

Celisto: "You helped save that town and don't you forget it!!!! If it hadn't been for you and the other adventurers, that town would have been demolished!! And it was all because of me that he had that town attacked. But I don't have the time to explain why. Who you helped kill was his first in command general and on top of that, you managed to completely deplete his army. I knew he was still alive, and so I fled that town in the caves and came to this town on the surface, hoping he would never track me down. Little did I know that I brought myself into an even worse situation."

Kel-Aziz: "Oh, god. Don't tell me that he is behind the undead attacks on this town.? I don't want to go through all that again."

Oscevello: "No, the Overlord, whose name was Delgotto, is in fact dead. He was killed at the hands of a High Priestess of the undead who was actually stronger than he was. And it is she, by the name of Jesitonia, who is summoning these hordes of undead. Her lair lies somewhere in this town. However, we must face another problem as well. She is sending for necromancers from all over this land to come and help her. She is having them surround the town and create undead to attack us from all sides.

There is, in fact, a large group of them headed to this town from nearby Beltor at this very minute. They are being lead by the priests who were in this very shrine. These undead attacks are going to get much, much worse. I heard of an incident here at the shrine involving some undead. Doesn’t it strike you as strange that undead would appear in a good holy place? In a good shrine, there are magical traps. In an evil shrine, there are summoning traps were demon, imps, or undead are usually summoned.

I understood it that some adventurers had tried to remove the Sacred Spear from its resting place to store it somewhere safe from the invading undead and undead appeared to protect it. That means one thing and one thing only. This shrine is evil and is most likely not the original. There must an underground passage somewhere to a much larger complex.

I have seen things like this before. It makes a perfect cover. A group of priests keep a holy object in their shrine and appear to be good in every aspect. When in reality, they are hiding a vicious cult of necromancers worshiping a powerful high priestess of the undead. Therefore, we need to come up with a plan. Any ideas?"

OOC: Okay. I leave some of the planning up to the other RPers. We all have to have an equal amount of fun.

OOC: A challenge? Eh? There are always ways through and around challenges.

IC: Raitt thought intently and decided to explain as best he could.

Raitt: "Crystals are really not my area. But, my teachers had once showed me how power crystals could be used to create a certain protective shield around the body. If attacked with a magical weapon dependant on the same power crystals, the shield would deactivate the power of the weapon and make it almost harmless."

Dern: "Almost harmless?"

Raitt: "Give me a break. There is no such thing as a weapon that doesn't do harm. What I meant was that the magical harming power will be gone, and the weapon would be returned to normal again. I can tell you for sure that this is not the Ex Feres Staff. The Ex Feres Staff is made of steel, and would most certainly hurt whether enchanted with red-hot flames or not.

Now, as for making this shield, I was never taught that. However, I'm sure Aran here would know how to do such a thing. I will give the spotlight to you. After all, you are the most in touch with gems and crystals among us."

OOC: Your turn Omlette.

OOC: I think I will add a twist. Not much though.

IC: Raitt has been listening intently and feels the need to break in.

Raitt: "Uh...I hate to break in, but..."

He holds the Graywraith staff up for everyone else to see. People get gaping looks of complete astonishment on their faces.

Dern: "But...how? How are you able to hold one of their weapons?

Raitt: "I know what this weapon is. It is called an Ex Feres Staff, or Hell Staff. My teachers taught me about it and taught me a spell that if such a day would come that I should encounter one of them, I will know how to deal with it and use the weapon myself."

There is a stunned silence still around him and he can tell that people want to ask him questions. He stands and waits for comments and questions.

OOC: How is that for some added fun?

OOC: Well, seeing as my character is no longer sleeping, I will explain it away as she couldn't fall asleep and came back out on the deck to pass the time.

IC: The boat docks at the worn and almost crumbling pier. As the people step out of the boat and onto the pier, carrying their belongings with them from the cargo hold, the pier groans and sways under their weight. Charlotte observes this and warns the others.

Charlotte: "Everyone, stop!!!! This pier obviously has not been used in a while and will not hold our combined weight. I suggest that we cross it one at a time. I will go first and test it. Everyone else, stay in the boat!!!"

With that, Charlotte steps onto the pier and carriers her suitcases with her. As she gets half way across it, she senses something amiss and stops. She puts down her suitcases and examines the wooden in front of her without touching it. The people in the boat ask her why she has stopped and she soon responds.

Charlotte: "Thermal charges!!! No one follow me!!! Let me disarm the trap first!! Someone obviously doesn't want us to be here."

She opens one of her suitcases and pulls out a short piece of wood. She says a few strange words and it suddenly lengthens in both directions at least a foot. She then starts tapping the wooden planks ahead of her and soon stops, apparently satisfied with having found something. She picks up her suitcases and backs up a little.

She sets them down ten feet from the middle and starts to chant some strange magic words. She points her hands at the planks and soon a gray light shoots from them. They hit the planks and a zapping noise can be heard, like the sound of an electrical line being severed. Then there are several splashes in the water below and the people on the boat look in the water. There are no less than 12 thermal charge bombs floating in the water, completely defused.

She picks up her suitcases and continues to walk the rest of the pier length. She arrives safely on the mainland and turns around.

Charlotte: It is safe to cross now. But please, one at a time. That rickety old pier won't hold up under a dozen sets of feet."

With that, she turns towards the ruined village and looks for the local inn. Seeing what appears to be one, she heads towards it.

OOC: I hope that gives an idea of what lies in store for us. IMAGE(Spiderweb Software Boards The Fall of the Star Clan RP1_files/rolleyes.gif)
