I occasionally have it at 3-4 in the morning or so, after sitting at the PC for 8 hours without interruption. It's more a monotone whistling than a ringing, but I guess it's the same. For me, it goes away after a few minutes at most, but it's still annoying. (Oh, by the way, it just started again. Speak of the devil. :P ) Afaik, tinnitus is actually the medical term used. I believe it's the symptom of certain hearing disorders. So if you have it for long periods of time, or very frequently, you might want to contact a doctor. -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! Some people just can't seem to grasp the concept of a balanced point of view. What is it you people have with 'sides'? From what I understood of AM's post, Riibu went a little far in her rant, and that you made yourself look less than smart by addressing her as 'AiS'. :P -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! Eh. The Blades of Avernum Center has hardly had a few months in which to die yet. The novelty factor gives it a rush despite its redundacy. Give it time. ~_^ -------------------- Encyclopaedia • Archives • Members • RSS [Topic / Forum] • Blog • Polaris • NaNoWriMo Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair. The mail bounced. :( Apparently the mail account is out of disk space. I'm uploading the BoE install file to my webspace. Blades.zip Edit: Turns out Yahoo doesn't like exe files, but doesn't have anything against zips. So just unzip the zip file to extract the exe file, then run the self extracting exe file, which extracts the Setup file that installs the game. Rather senseless, but that's the only way to do it. Oh, and it's out of alloted bandwidth for now because I had to upload it about five times. If it doesn't download, try it in another hour or two. LotR? You're kidding? If there is a movie, it should be a movie that *improves* the plot of the original concept. Not one that cuts out one half and turns the other into--- eh, no need to go into that here. While we're at it, a book based on the game would be a much better idea. I'd set 2 a day to be the border between active members and rarely-posting members. Anyone significantly above 5-6 is a spammer or a noob (or both). It's the quality, not the quantity. The latter only costs Jeff diskspace and us hours of valuable time backing up stuff when he has to clean out the trash again. -------------------- Encyclopaedia • Archives • Members • RSS [Topic / Forum] • Blog • Polaris • NaNoWriMo Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair. The 8-year-old comment referred to 8-year-olds, not highly intelligent 13-year-olds. Obviously. [ Tuesday, August 17, 2004 09:05: Message edited by: Aran ] -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! quote:Ahem. quote:This could be argued. While Connections and 'What did you just eat'-style topics are nothing but a petty way for members to fap over their post counts, a roleplay that is well-done improves the level of conversation on the board it is done in. In this particular case, we're talking about the difference between topics made by the 8-year-old SW-Fans so often mentioned, and worthwhile discussions and outbursts of creativity. I believe there have been discussions about plot quality vs. combat in these games. The thing is that such things as plot attract people who like to read. Some people who read like to write as well. As long as the result is enjoyable to read, why should it be a waste of space? I can think of many other things that would be more so. Oh, and by the way: What is it with 'Elfy'? I don't have a clue what you mean by this word, and how I deserve it. -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! We can and we have done several times. However, they take preparation. I can count the successful RPs in the time since I've been here on one hand. The latest one to come to conclusion was around January. You can find a copy here. -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! quote:Pardon me for lightly chuckling at this point. ^_^ For a Vahnatai, the one on the right is awfully fat. Looks like a human dressed up. I thought they were supposed to be far taller and more spindly-looking. And don't forget the double-jointed extremities. General shape of head is all right though, at least in the one on the right. It's certainly something of an instigation to critical thought. What relation exists between two sentient beings one of who 'made' the other - if scientists clone a human, is that human their property? If god (or what we see as such) made mankind, are we his/her property? I wouldn't say the game made me agnostic, as I've been that way pretty much all along. But it caused me to look at these questions from an entirely new angle. Wonderful topic there, yogu. This proves that not only the General forum can contain interesting moral debates. :) -------------------- Encyclopaedia • Archives • Members • RSS [Topic / Forum] • Blog • Polaris • NaNoWriMo Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair. Kelandon: It's quicker and more convenient, but being a program it can make mistakes much more easily. As ben said, some thread links don't work. That might be a problem with interlinking (always use the top index to go to a page and a thread; use as little links between actual pages and threads as possible), but it might also be because some threads just weren't saved. In that case, the manual thing is the way to go. StD: I used the HTTrack Website Copier. It's freeware. Posts: 8752 | Registered: Wednesday, May 14 2003 07:00 |

Short announcement - The first part of the PPP2 Archive is UP. Only for testing purposes currently, and not by far a nice page design, I basically just mass-uploaded the BoE mirror to my 0catch webspace (the thing allows me 100s of MB, but only about 500 k per file, so it's excellent for this sort of thing where I have thousands of tiny files to store). BoE Archive Ignore the popups, please. I'll try to find a better solution later. This is only a test. Oh, and for this and further mirrors: Please be aware that the links between the single threads and pages are mostly functional, but not always guaranteed to be. If you can't reach another page from where you are, go back to the index and try it from there. Hehe, that reminds me of the time I sent someone the entire Avernum trilogy including BoA and the editor in zipped packets of 10 MB each. :D The install file is what you want, right? I should have it right here still. Give me a minute or so (assuming the mail doesn't bounce of course. ;) ) Oh, and are you on Mac or PC?
