I joined The Lyceum when Solberg started complaining to me that he was being banished. I asked him where The Lyceum *was*, and here I am today. (Well, more accurately, I visited The Lyceum, played Redemption, played An Apology, and *then* decided to stick around. But that's being pedantic.) So yeah, mid-late '00. Alcritas was having trouble with his short contest, so TM came to the rescue! With Unbalanced Accounts. Oh yeah, and then came the Megasite... -------------------- * Posts: 6936 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

Oh, god. Don't remind me of the Megasite. :-p Also, you arrived at the Lyceum in spring 2001, being that the Solberg thing was in March of that year. http://p080.ezboard.com/fthelyceumfrm20.showMessage?topicID=1.topic Hm. -------------------- I've got a pyg in a poke. The Megasite?  I may be a bit behind on things, but I'm very curious all of the sudden... -------------------- -ben4808 Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |

A horrible horrible group project that aimed to create a comprehensive site where one could find all things Blades. It fell through for any number of horrible reasons. -------------------- Dragyn Bob "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here!"-The Divine Comedy Posts: 1481 | Registered: Thursday, September 27 2001 07:00 |

Actually, it sounds like a good idea. If there was a valid site with everything from Blades, it would be a good resource. However, I'm guessing that the people that tried to create it were horrible at it in some way and/or the site was badly designed or couldn't get good webspace or something. I'm still curious... -------------------- -ben4808 Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |

It fell through for several reasons. Certain people had trouble actually doing anything, satisfactory hosting never was found, and it was basically redundant. It doesn't really kill people to go to a couple different sites to find what they need. Anyway, the work I did on the Megasite ended up becoming the BoE Graphics Database; that was lost to a server crash and I never felt like rebuilding the database by hand, for understandable reasons. The Megasite was a solution in search of a problem, and overambitious at that. -------------------- I've got a pyg in a poke. Posts: 999 | Registered: Friday, June 27 2003 07:00 |

Technically, I was around before then. Making Streila Spies, hosting TMU when less than nobody cared, and thinking that BSR wasn't one of the community's worst designers. God, was I a lost case back then. -------------------- * Posts: 6936 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

Was I one of the first people you contacted? You emailed me in August/September 2000 asking me to beta-test Streila Spies. -------------------- "At times discretion should be thrown aside, and with the foolish we should play the fool." - Menander ==== Drakefyre's Demesne - Happy Happy Joy Joy Encyclopedia Ermariana - Trapped in the Closet ==== You can take my Mac when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse! I believe so. Yeah, you convinced me not to release it. I put it out anyway, but you've seemed to stick steadfastly to that philosophy in the interim. On an unrelated tangent, how's RiB doing? -------------------- * Posts: 6936 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

The BoE Megasite sounds almost like The BoA Center. Except that the Megasite had the brains to die before starting. ^_^ -------------------- The Great Mister kommari@gmail.com[/url] Posts: 417 | Registered: Sunday, June 27 2004 07:00 |

Eh. The Blades of Avernum Center has hardly had a few months in which to die yet. The novelty factor gives it a rush despite its redundacy. So is there a good graphics archive yet or is this something that is still needed? I want to contribute, yet I know that my gameplay intrests go in spurts. 1year on ET, 6 mo. for rollercoaster tycoon, 3 mo. at HSX.com, now back for BoE. It's hard for me to stay in one place for extended times but maybe the responsibility for a site would stick me. -------------------- Forever Always on Past the End TrueSite for Blades - Blades Walkthroughs Pixle Profusion - BoE Graphics Archive Posts: 563 | Registered: Tuesday, July 27 2004 07:00 |

But it hasn't been updated for two-three years or thereabouts. I like milu's site for new graphics, but mostly I just pull graphics out of other peoples' scenarios (where permission is given). -------------------- fame fame fatal fame it can play hideous tricks on the brain Posts: 407 | Registered: Friday, May 14 2004 07:00 |

And, if anyone's interested, I just made my very first graphic. 'Martin the Warrior'; mouse with great blade who is the hero of my very first scenario to be unless I experiment on a smaller one first. I've been around forever, and not really produced anything of note. I plan to stick around forever, too, even though my solemn oath never to touch BoA will interfere even more with my being useful. Since antiquity, by the Stareye scale -- I remember the release of BoE for Windows. You've contributed your incredible personality, Alec. And introduced the 'commentary scenario'. That's quite enough from you. :P [ Friday, August 20, 2004 13:07: Message edited by: There is only love in my house ] -------------------- fame fame fatal fame it can play hideous tricks on the brain Posts: 407 | Registered: Friday, May 14 2004 07:00 |

I feel very much like a scared newbie, which I am, but maybe I'll dare to post. I remember Aceron's board and posted there and recognise some names from that time, I just left it even before the board itself did (which I found out later). For some reason I gave up BOE for years. Then I came back and there was suddenly a community and lots of people and I was lost and so far the only posts I've had courage to make have been questions about scenarios I'm stuck in. Mostly I'm a happy lurker. And back then I created one scenario. I played it again some time ago and it was truly awful, especially the language. It's funny to read the few reviews it's had, they weren't very positive but more than it deserves. Most likely it will be the last scenario I create. I found the scenario file on my computer and it was created in December 1997 (does that sound right?) so I guess that I was around then. Posts: 9 | Registered: Friday, November 21 2003 08:00 |
