Then Jeff would have an idea for GF 5, except he wouldn't use it, because the plot would suck horrendously.

Uh...

No, but duking it out publically on this forum is. In my experience, it is far easier to resolve a conflict through private channels (or rather far harder to maintain a constant level of invective). My theory is that while on the forum, you risk losing face and your reputation, and are therefore compelled to keep on returning the banter and giving as good as you get, rather than backing down and giving ground.

I question whether the decision to publicize the issue was beneficial. This is not an endorsement or accusation against anyone and in fact it is no judgement of the conflict itself, which I feel is none of my business.

A few months ago, our in-house mailing list at my workplace became the site of a showdown between a Microsoft and an Open Source geek. It was entertaining, but also quite disturbing to see two co-workers publically lambasting each other for all their colleagues to see. I don't know them closely, but I figure they had some trouble passing each other (or others who followed the debate) in the corridors for a few days after that. And rightfully so.

My point is: An issue that started out privately should be left private.

Spiderweb has had worse in years past. Through the nostalgia, it's easy to forget that Spiderweb was basically a flamepit back in 2003. The political debates regularly became shouting matches, and where RPs were concerned, you didn't worry about it dying from inactivity so much as from incessant flaming. Compared to that, we've come a long way.

Take that controversy in July 2003, for example. I don't want to bring it up now, because it is a matter best left buried. For the really curious, the relevant topic IDs are 1034, 1035, 1036, 1043 and 1046 on General, and it might have spilled over into a few contemporary topics. It was bad, it was unnecessary, and considering the ones involved and where and what they are now, utterly out of character.

--

Otherwise, my advice is to let this go. TM might have a point in saying Synergy and Kel shouldn't have brought this matter here in the first place, but now that it is there it should be left alone for them to work it out on their own without community input. Being the brilliant geniuses (plural?) they are, I have faith in their ability to do so without trouble or lasting bitterness.

My guess as to TM's point is that the companies concerned care not one wit about anything that might harm their profits.

Capitalism works in wonderful ways to make our world a better place every day.

That crash was the sarcasm-meter going off the scale.

It helps that Firefox gives auto-suggestions as soon as you enter a single letter. Since there aren't any websites starting on "i" that I visit more often, I can enter the website with two clicks - as long as it takes to open the bookmarks - and a key.

Although I've also made a bookmark in the toolbar. Now I need only a single click.

And finally, with the newsfeed, I can browse the active threads without even looking at the forum. :)

After the hanging in Iran and now this, I get the feeling that in terms of politics, all the newsworthy topics come to Spiderweb, but about a month later? Still, it is good they are brought up at all.

And no, I don't have anything new to add to the discussion. I can even save myself the comment since you all know what I'd say anyway...

Given that all of these points are widely known, the only reason I can think of why you posted them is that you have specific experience with each and every one of them. Which is disturbing. Please let this topic die in peace.

So true. It is also the best satirization of said point I have seen yet. Certainly better than Alec's "Hi"/"Goodbye"/"I'm back" triplet. :P

Supanik, Slartucker: Nothing really bad, I just had some disagreement with my boss today, who decided that all changes made to the current project in the last half week must be reverted. But only the "bad" changes - the others stay in.
Of course, it is my fault for changing the plan on my own initiative, without his input (if you disregard the last five or so emails we sent each other concerning precisely those changes, which I remember he suggested...) So yep, I'm just a little irritated. Nothing like getting the feeling your boss wastes your time and blames you for it. <_<

And sorry for reviving this. It's been barely two weeks, anyhow. :P

Wait...slithzerikai are mammals?

Dikiyoba doesn't particularily like drakons. Or even drayks. Fyoras and cyoras are fine though.

They definitely aren't, game-wise - there are hatching pools in the city of Lost Bahssikava in Avernum.

I've always felt that rhetorical questions should be answered when possible. :P

Edit: The slithzerikai, naturally. Not the fyoras and cryoras.
