Contrary to popular opinion, there are many here who no longer play, or have never played, Spiderweb games. They find this forum in search of somthing else and stick around, or they are brought here by friends who do play Spiderweb games, or they have relatives on this board.

I didn't open a single spiderweb game for most of early 2005, and I have yet to play one this year (except for entering A3 once to check out a dialog message I no longer remembered, but that doesn't really count...) I still play occasionally, but much more rarely than I used to.

I anticipated that giving this community the ability to self-reflect with the archive search would cause some interesting developments, but what I hadn't expected was that old memes would be revived even more frequently than they already where. What's next - a flurry of "What did you last.../are you currently..." topics? That'd be like, so 2004...

Means of transportation to work/school: Bicycle, train when I visit my parents on weekends.
A RL nickname not previously mentioned here: None, really. Oh wait. In elementary they called my "The Professor" for my glasses and smartassyness.

I did not hear of the fluffy turtles until the election last Summer, but it was probably a meme that's been around longer than that. Like all things fluffy, it was also likely invented by Saunders, although I am not sure.

The second one (VoT) was actually the most surprising to me. It was saved in PPP2.

However, there is no guarantee that it was the last version to be posted in. The last post in the topic mentions PPP2, so the whole topic might well have continued past that point, only that didn't get saved because PPP2 was done.

Also, I didn't save the music topic. I don't know who did (Kelandon?), but it was saved in PPP1.

Zeviz: No, apparently I used a separate onClick() event for each option. Could that be the problem?
I can change it to onSelect events, I guess...

Also, the host required me to provide a real name. I had no idea they were also going to use this name for the directory I store my files in. :P

1. No full-text search, until I find a way to get the posts into the database - and I find a database big enough. That can mean anything between two years and never.

2. Birthdays are off due to timezone trouble. I'll fix this soon. Registration dates were completely messed up this update; I'll correct them when I do the next update (they won't have changed after all).

3. You can't search by member name, and you're not supposed to. That's why the field says "member number". (oh, and could you take out that error message please, especially the file path? I don't mind people knowing my surname, but I appreciate when it's not all over Google. :) )

Several things to note:

1. You need to have Javascript enabled to use the form. I'm working on fixing this (ie, automatically switching to a non-js form if js is disabled). Also, depending on what browser you are using, you may get strange errors. Bear in mind this is my Javascript, and I suck at it even more than the language already does by itself. I've tested it with Firefox 1.5, Opera 8 and MSIE 6)

2. I have barely tested the thing. Don't be surprised if it explodes in your face or gives strange error messages. All the same, I'd appreciated being notified of that, so I can fix it.

3. Full-text and participant searching (ie. any search that queries individual posts rather than topics) is disabled, because the posts have never been indexed in a database. This may change in the future, some time.

To be honest, I have to read up on that, although it was at the time of the elections and might be related. It was in the July 05 statistics topic. It also came three days after Alec left, although my departure had nothing to do with that.

One might say I dropped out because the elections were too stressful, and because this came at a time when I already had a lot of RL stress. Unkind people, on the other hand, might point out that I was well on my way to losing the election anyway, and that this was merely a showstealing way to exit with a flourish without really affecting the outcome. Whatever.

Your five brutally efficient steps hopefully do not involve doing harm to my computer or internet connection? :P
