quote:Right now, it only supports hourly averages, but I could probably adjust it to aggregate over a certain time period (such as a day/week/month...). Edit: Actually, it would be better to make a new program for that. That would take a certain time range (start and end values) along with a period length (such as a day, or a month), and then draw a column graph rather than an xy-plot. In an effort to add something useful to this topic, I'd like to say I fiddled around with the graphing script (this one) a bit, fixing some of the more glaring WTFs in the code. While doing that, I had a good idea about how to adjust for post deletions (which make the graph very ugly when looking the full time range). So now, the additional parameter "adjust=on" shows how many posts there would be if nothing had been deleted. Basically, it notices when there's a downward slump in the graph, and shifts all points from there on up by exactly that amount, so the downward slumps disappear. Also, the view is now automatically narrowed down on the actual range of existing data, even if the selected date range begins in 1980 or something. The option "force_scale=on" overrides this. (Note that this option messes up the trend line; I'll have to work around that) [ Friday, February 17, 2006 18:16: Message edited by: Arancaytar the Grey ] -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. quote:FTP is a protocol for uploading (and downloading) files. You need a client to connect to a server through FTP. The easiest way (in XP) to use it without downloading a client is probably to set up a "Network Resource" in your explorer. You open your Network Settings, click "Add Network Resource" (or similar), then click "Next" twice, enter: ftp://ftp.ermarian.net and click Next again, uncheck the option "Anonymous login" and enter the user name you can find on this page. Then click Next again, and it should be done. It will be like a regular folder, that you can copy stuff from and into. :) Edit: And salmon is right about the filenames. Spaces are a no-no, and lower case, while not essential, is very recommendable (because it's less confusing). Edit: I also set up a web upload form yesterday at this place, using the same password as for the FTP access. It seems to work so far... Edit: This to the posters over three posts above. Please refrain from raping my innocent topic for your personal gain and pleasure. It is not nice. Also, this would be the first statistics topic to get locked. It would set a very bad example. I might just have to discontinue the whole thing. There. I knew that one would do the trick. quote:Actually, the numbers are skewed. There is a (negligible) trend that favors people with higher member numbers in absolute post count, because I read the profiles sequentially, and it takes about 4 hours to run from beginning to end. Kel always has nearly an hour's worth of head start over me. Of course, that trend disappears when you consider only the relative stats compared to last month. :) -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. Four weeks of vacation on a lone island, with a computer? OMG. There is nothing in that scenario that could possibly dampen my mood, not even A4. Heck, Galactic Core! Although, that said, I'd want to take BoA, and use the time to work towards finishing my scenario idea that's been sitting on back-burner for the past four and a half years (It was to be a BoE work originally). Without distractions, I'm bound to be more productive. -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. But if there is no difference between conservative and liberal, then why is it that the groups who would describe themselves as either loathe each other with a passion?
