OOC: Crap, I had my IC ready in the train this morning but need to adjust for Ephesos now. I'll post this afternoon when I'm home. Edit: So I did, Ephesos. Still, it is disheartening to put off an IC for half a month and then have someone post just when you're done. :p Well, the collision is not that bad. In fact, you killing the demon fits in perfectly where I left off, so in terms of synchronicity my post can begin slightly before yours and finish slightly afterwards, sort of wrapping around. That's what I'd have said two years ago, when I was in highschool and had only about 4-5 sites to check regularly. :P The trouble is that it's not the "active" sites that take your time, it's lots and lots of the quiet ones (and I've already dropped many of them to free up time...). -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. Once you get to the point where you study, have a full-time job, and are a perennial member of a round dozen or so web boards, you'll usually find you are a bit short on time. Online news sources came up with a clever way to save time checking sites for new content: They publish their latest updates as an XML feed that can be read by any number of feed readers - which automatically alert you when new things are published. I figured something like this might be useful for Spiderweb, which sadly lacks an "email subscription" feature that other systems like Invision Power and phpBB have. So I made a small script this afternoon that reads the "daily topics" list and generates an atom-formatted xml feed. It's quite rudimentary, and could use some additional features, but the xml appears to validate. You can enter this url into any reader that understands Atom. (For RSS, try FeedBurner) --- Additional options: Adding the parameter "forum=..." will get only the latest post from that forum. Adding "topic=..." will display only updates to the given topic. Example: http://www.ermarian.net/stats/feed.php?forum=1&topic=2705 will only show replies to the Mountain of Shadows (#2705 in General). -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. Ben, we're talking about these cartoons here. And while I do believe it was very unwise of the newspaper to unnecessarily fuel such a controversy, I also think the issue has been blown entirely out of proportion. Why can't everyone just go back to hating the West for shooting wounded civilians and torturing prisoners, rather than hating them for not punishing its free newspapers for publishing caricatures? There's enough to be angry about without resorting to this. -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. If this equation was given without additional information, then the one who gave it to you was either being a moron, messing with you, or asking you to solve for one in terms of the other. It so happens that Maple is your friend when it comes to math. Solving for y in terms of x: Where LambertW stands for Lambert's W Function. Instinctively, I'd say that if you had come across or understood that function (I haven't, and I study Math), you wouldn't need to post math questions on this forum... Just one more off-topic inquiry, since the other thread was locked: The way Kelandon wrote that last post, it sounded as though he had banned the guy. Can mods really ban people, or did you just give Drakey a shout on AIM, Kel?
