I didn't mean that sentence in particular. Just some of the others I've seen have made me cringe.

That personally made me cringe. The "fan" bit I mean.

Just because I read Lovecraft avidly doesn't mean I'm into tentacles. o_O

Shouldn't this be the custom title rather than the signature?

Also, I didn't get one! I'm unimportant, insignificant and unknown! :(

It's somewhat ironic that I'm asking this, because I'm usually the one who gives advice when others start such topics here. (I'd have continued the last topic of this kind, but that was closed).

The thing is, I know a lot of different forum applications, but not free ones. I definitely want to host it myself, and for economic reasons it should preferably be free.

Do I have any option besides phpBB (which I've heard is rather insecure)? I'll use phpBB, but only if there is no other option...

(Points made in bold to prevent this thread getting flooded by "use phpBB" and "use ezboard" responses...)

The "you suck" would make a good signature quote, but that would mean I used about three TM quotes in a row and that just wouldn't do. People would start thinking I'm a fan. :P

David changed his monikers for a while. The only ones I remember now are Sir David and iDavid (him being a mac user :P )

I've often wondered about Lady Davida, especially since it seems to be a permanent moniker, unchanged for the last year or more.

That was TM's form on 2/6/2006 at 9:20pm board time. It may or may not be his current form. Careless speculation can leave you unprepared for the horrible truth.

It has now been TM's form on 2/6/2006 at 9:20pm board time. What it will have been tomorrow or was going to be yesterday, nobody can know.

(Cue RW theme music)

I posted a novel of 50,000 words in the BoA forum last November, and the board didn't so much as flinch.

Neither did the mods, by the way - and I was seriously expecting the topic to get locked every day...

Or, for those who like A4 less, once he realizes what he is inflicting on the poor, already stricken Windows users.

It's a matter of practice. In almost all maps that have wolves (ie, northern provinces), fortifications are available. So before I start building, I seek out the wolves and kind of wall them in - preferably out of the way of the city.
By the time I need the land, I usually have a legion to exterminate them, and that's it.

Not exactly a very ecological or moral course of action, but then this is a game. :P

Also, we don't really need a new topic for this.

Edit: And no, there is no "original" abominable (non-pet) photo thread. If there is, it either got it way before PPP1, was in Misc, or didn't contain the word abominable.

Perhaps by "original", he means Caesar (I). I myself once played the Caesar II demo - I never got the hang of that. C1 apparently has graphics much like Exile (and early SimCity games?): Two-dimensional view from straight above.

Like many older games in a series, only purists and utter fans would still play it I guess. As for me, I wouldn't even know where to get it. I doubt it's still being sold - it's nearly as old as Exile, and big companies abandon their older games more quickly than Jeff does.

Edit: It has been officially abandoned and released as freeware by its publisher. From what I've heard and what the site says, it's not much though.

Also, why the hell do you start trading only after you go into debt? That's a bit late...

Dude, when you support Walmart, you support rampant capitalism and the oppression of the working class...

Edit: While this smacks faintly of sarcasm, in all seriousness, Walmart sucks. It supports labor under atrocious conditions in developing countries, it is a blight on all forms of social justice, and it wrecks local economies.
