It's kind of sad that you can't find something to do for ten minutes while your computer downloads a file. Edit: Sorry. Anyway, to answer your question, I think it's worth ten minutes to try something new. Thanks, that did the trick. It's pretty odd too, the old .bas file was 1024kb while the backup was only 96kb. -------------------- Enraged Slith's Blades of Avernum Website Look out, there's a three-headed monkey behind you! Posts: 1233 | Registered: Wednesday, October 3 2001 07:00 |

When I added an outdoor section, little did I know that BoA 3D editor would eat my scenario: 1. Add +1 North Outdoor Section, All the terrain in current section (not the floors) removed! 2. Replaced terrain including the @$#!ing cliff walls. 3. Save, ERROR! 4. Reload, terrain still missing. #$*@! 5. Test save, ERROR! 6. Reload, try to edit town. ERROR, 3D editor shut down. 7. Reload, try again: ERROR! This is pretty strange. It looks like I'm going to have to make another scenario and transfer the town into it (see if it's okay) as well as tranfer all the files. I'm just glad I hadn't gotten started on scripting yet. Edit: I just wanted to mention that before the soldier transformed into a shield, he was shrouded in a black aura that slowly spread in all directions. You could have waited until Avernum 5 was released to Windows before making this topic... Exile 2 was my favorite Spiderweb game as a child. It was the first one I completed the demo for and registered, and so it holds a nostalgic place in my heart. I'm also a fan of the Geneforge games and Blades of Avernum. Strong back is the only way to go for any character other than a mage. With Strong back and a couple points in defense, any character can wear heavy armor which offsets any other bonus. It's also a plus for archers who have to carry around a ton of arrows. The other traits aren't worth their cost, except for Divinely Touched, which is too much of a game breaker to be any fun. As for negative traits, I like to use brittle bones for people who aren't in melee combat (big plus for mages) and sickness prone for everyone else. -------------------- Enraged Slith's Blades of Avernum Website Kill Them Dead - Rate it now at CSR! Check the readme if you want to know how to get every bad dude point. Of course, I could just post them: - Destroy the potted plant - Turn the wheel yourself - Kill the group of ogres - Knock Nelson into the lava - Kick the Ticklish ogre in the face - Push the altar into the pit - Kick the door to the inn down - Don't spare Nogan - Take the mystery prize -------------------- Enraged Slith's Blades of Avernum Website Look out, there's a three-headed monkey behind you! I swear, I can remember when BoA was first released and all the little landmarks we had on this board. RoR, the hundreds of questions about ZKR, the first and only graphics competition, etc. Is this board and its extensive history over the past six years really getting purged? -------------------- Enraged Slith's Blades of Avernum Website Look out, there's a three-headed monkey behind you! Is there any way to make a custom floor that conforms to another (like the dirt to the grass floor)? I checked the docs, but it doesn't list anything that could accomplish this. While I'm at it, is there any way to customize frill terrain? All of this can be worked around manually at the expense of a lot of time, which is not something I'm thrilled to do. -------------------- Enraged Slith's Blades of Avernum Website Look out, there's a three-headed monkey behind you! You can also accomplish this from the exit state. I did this in a scenario that allowed the player to exit from for different locations in the starting town. I think it's change_outdoor_location(x,y) but you'll want to check. -------------------- Enraged Slith's Blades of Avernum Website Look out, there's a three-headed monkey behind you! Empire's New Grove gives you 3 free skills points in melee (though you'll want to be about level 5+ I think to beat the scenario). Rats Aplenty lets you buy unlimited Blademaster for cheap. -------------------- Enraged Slith's Blades of Avernum Website Look out, there's a three-headed monkey behind you! I love how you say music has died and yet Jazz is still played every day... It's stupid to compare and rate music anyway, since it's all subjective to taste and what inspires the listener. -------------------- Enraged Slith's Blades of Avernum Website Look out, there's a three-headed monkey behind you! quote:To be honest, I hate the revamped Exile graphics. I grew up playing the original pit graphics, and would love to get my hands on them again (just need a floppy disk and a free day.) However, I don't hate the Avernum graphics. Some of them are very nice, and, as someone who makes them and is a fan of his own work, I protest your statement. I agree that the PC graphics are ugly though. -------------------- Enraged Slith's Blades of Avernum Website Look out, there's a three-headed monkey behind you! Replace the Drakon with Charizard, truly the ultimate master of fire and all that is toasty. See, look how powerful it is! I single-handedly defeated the Elite Four and knocked my rival on his ass with this thing! Doesn't blademaster add damage even to weapons that base their damage on skills other than melee and pole skill?
