Can't say I enjoyed the last year all that much, but at least I'm alive and well. Have a good year everyone.

Exile (1-3), Avernum (blades). E2 was the first Spiderweb Software game I bought, and the other two just grew on me. I never was able to get into the Avernum series until BoA, which I design for. I might feel differently about BoE but I never bought it.

Which Geneforge Game is best? in Geneforge Series

Geneforge I - Most interesting and greatest potential of the four but it fails to keep the player immersed in the story.

Geneforge II - Great gameplay, tons of endings, tons of choices, I loved the idea of avenging Shanti's (is it Shanti? I can't remember...) death. A fine game, though Parry is broken.

Geneforge III - My favorite of the original three. Linear but more immersive than the other two. I liked the idea of islands and the different environments but the boat riding gets on your nerves, especially with the lack of inventory space to carry all the junk around with you (if you're a pack rat like me.)

Geneforge IV - Biased, only finished demo, which was excellent. Can't vote for it though.

It's heroes like Askari that give me hope for humanity. We should all hope to achieve the same level of caliber.

Civ III is worth getting used to. It's got a lot of neat stuff in and of itself, although it's got a lot of lame stuff too (barbarians never get past horsemen, expansion is crimped beyond severely by corruption, and corruption is generally impossible to undo altogether. Hell, I'd take despotism if it meant no more damn corruption!)
It's be better without the damn failsafe system against German conquest. After conquering over half of the world with the Germans the game uninstalled itself. This same thing recently happened after I made some progress in Riven (painstaking and headache inducing). It's all Gametap's fault.

Had to do a Wiki search on this one. She's apparently going to do a voice role for an animated "Dragonlance: Dragons of Autumn Twilight" straight-to-video movie. Damn, sucks to see one of my favorite childhood series get turned into some cheap animated film.

Well, advancement in research and technology is a pretty good reason.

Loyalist, completely 100%.

I always respected the Awakened for trying but I prefer the Takers who seem more grounded in reality (maybe not individually but the whole 'we can live as equals' idea the Awakened champion is just silly.)

It makes me sad because I feel for those poor serviles and every abandoned creation found in the games.

I don't like to submit to the Louvre. All of my work there is either credited to the wrong person or a different alias (thankfully since they're all crap.) I'm not particularly fond of this idea as my work takes a lot of time and I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with it being shared through different mediums. If someone wants to do this, by all means go ahead, I wont stand in your way. Just know that I wont be submitting anything, someone else will have to upload the graphics from my site.

Remember to be careful, I wouldn't want to see a loss of quality in a transition.

Sometimes you've got to sit down, research, and figure things out for yourself. It's sad to see that the younger generations (including my own) have degraded to the point where if they can't figure something out in ten seconds, they give up.

Fortunately, there are always exceptions.

Geneforge I, though I wish the serviles had been a little more involved in your progression through the plot. I know it would be hard, especially with three different sects, but a constantly changing interaction and dialogue with the respective servile groups would have been a very nice touch.

G3-why do you dislike it in Geneforge Series

I hated all the random hacking and slashing. It was too easy to destroy an entire island before learning what you were supposed to be doing there in the first place. This was possible in the first two as well but because they were so open, it wasn't as bothersome.

I think Student of Trinity highlighted what this game did well but because the plot was loosely connected with the player's actions, ultimately it just felt like the first two Geneforges confined in an annoyingly cramped story and world map. It kind of reminded me of ZKR.

I don't think it's a bad game though.

Color swaps do work, there's no debate there, but tints certainly do not. So 128, 256, and 512 shifts don't work for windows users.

Which is unbelieveably annoying when you want to turn something a redish hue that is predominantly yellow...
