I have the splash screen for Twilight Valley today. Yesterday it was the cover of Revolver.

Meh. Mine's pretty dull - I'm a minimalist as well - but I love this Hopper print:

I've been feeling a bit minimalist lately. Plus, I have a theory about the green aspects of black.

IMAGE(http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i157/wgrandbois/Picture1-1.jpg)

The one thing you might notice in this rather dull image is the lack of a leopard desktop. That's 'cause I'm old school. Or it could just be because my iMac G4 doesn't have a fast enough processor.

I think my Mac might still be running Panther? or whatever 10.3.9 is. It definitely has reached an evolutionary/upgrade bottleneck, what with its 256 megs of RAM and G3 processor. It makes a lovely MP3 server in our kitchen though, when it's not trying to cook its logic board for the third time. You gotta love that generation of iBooks! Thankfully, Jeff's games are easy on the system, so I'll have a chance to play the A5 demo this week while my wife is out of town. :)

Out of curiosity, is there any way to fix the stupid keychain issue whenever there's a security update? I understand that it should prompt me to change this automatically, but seldom seems to do so until two or three restarts, and always prompts while the computer is shutting down!

I think you'll find that several people here play EV Nova. I know Aran does, and I'm sure we aren't the only ones.

Hi.

I last played EVN only a few months ago, when that quasi-TC Arpia 2 came out. (It was a juvenile project that grew up as it grew, and got some serious graphical assistance from ATMOS.) It's amazing what legs that game has, considering that it's quite old now, is only 2D with sprites (though good 3D looks to the sprites), and has never spawned anywhere near the number of Total Conversions that previous EV games did. Somehow EVN reached the threshold of sound and graphics for space opera to be acceptably realized, and it's fun just to zoom around looking at things. And blasting the heck out of Aurorans.

I understand, alas, that the reason there are so few large plug-ins is that the engine is not only complex, but rather buggy. So putting in the huge effort to learn it is by no means guaranteed to let you achieve the cool things you have in mind. I believe I've heard that song around here once or twice, as well; but EVN also requires serious graphics abilities if you don't want your product to look pitifully lame.

And I see you also play AoE II. I have a fondness for that game myself, which none of the sequels have managed to replace.

Of course, that I played the respective demos on my three-year-old notebook with miserable graphics memory hasn't helped. But really, Empire Earth was a bit too flashy for me. I don't mind zooming around on that three-dimensional battle-field (even lagged like hell), but I ended up paying more attention to the scenery and flashy combat than strategy.

That doesn't happen with AoE II or Settlers III. Even less with Widelands...

I've decided to clutter up my life a bit. Here's my new desktop, taken only moments ago:

IMAGE(http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i157/wgrandbois/Picture1-2.jpg)

For those who prefer a messier desktop, it might be interesting to try something similar over time, although Time Machine already has the corner on that particular visual.

And I'm not ashamed of that.
Had to do a Wiki search on this one. She's apparently going to do a voice role for an animated "Dragonlance: Dragons of Autumn Twilight" straight-to-video movie. Damn, sucks to see one of my favorite childhood series get turned into some cheap animated film.

Only because you didn't watch Buffy. Or, uh, Eurotrip.

Yeah, I assume it's going to suck, and it's completely going to fail to be Dragonlance. I've watched at least one other of her movies that was pretty bad solely because she was in it (The Dive From Clausen's Pier), so I'll probably watch it anyway.

EVNova is quite good, but Nalyd prefers Darwinia.

From what I've heard, it actually could be pretty decent.

Meh. Movies aren't produced with the same quality as they used to.

Exactly. Currently they are of much higher quality.

The scripts are about the same. Some excellent, some good, and a lot of junk. It's just with the older movies, well, they don't re-release the junk so there is a perception that old=good.

I noticed you use a mac. :(

But then I noticed a Diablo 2 icon on the screen. Do you play on closed, and if so what realm/ladder?

Unfortunately my PC is majorly on the fritz right now and I just haven't gotten around to replacing the HDD despite it almost literally growling at me every so often, therefore leaving me somewhat unable to ss my desktop with its usual array, however I typically use a picture of Zippy from Rainbow across a multicoloured (rainbow-effect) background.

The only game I play online is Guild Wars. Diablo 2 is installed because I like to play the single player campaign.

No, the desktop didn't really change. All that has changed are the icons in the dock (got some new games) and the files on the desktop.
