I celebrated the Fourth by getting a horrendous sunburn. Yay for cancer!
Anyways, I was going to start a topic about the Muzzle Awards on the Fourth, but obviously didn't get around to it. The local indie newspaper (Boston Phoenix) publishes the top ten suppressed/undercovered newsstories every Fourth of July. While being somewhat specific to Mass./New England, there are always a few national surprises in there. Worth a look.

Hmmh. If you count individual US states as 'conflict nations', you would have ammunition for quite some time. Anyways, the best part is that he's using CIA maps. Delicious.

I've resisted picking up a Harry Potter book so far (although everyone I know has given them the thumbs up), but have watched both movies (good effects, but disjointed).
The good thing about HP:
People that haven't read a book in years are running out and buying them and reading to or with their kids. Is that so bad? Maybe a small percentage of these people will use this little jumpstart to pick up further books in the fantasy genre and discover some of the better, lesser known authors.

Yeah, Neuticles(sp?).
A friend of mine just had his cat castrated and had little plastic balls (literally) put in; as he put it: "Not so much for the cat, more to not make me feel guilty."

Sex is a lot more fun if your partner is enjoying it, too. What's good for them is ultimately good for you.

X is correct. All these question things are personality tests, more or less, but, unfortunately, there is no foolproof way of judging them. I always thought that people that wanted to be invisible weren't so much introverts, but had secret longings to lead a life of crime.

TM, i can't believe you diss Led Zeppelin and then hold Boston and the Eagles up as GOOD examples of 60/70s rock. One day, Don Henley will inhabit the same hell as Roman Polanski.
Don't get me wrong, I actually have a secret liking of Boston (much to my girlfriend's chagrin), but Zeppelin was WAY more inventive and influential than Boston could ever hope to be.
And Revolver was a milestone, in my opinion.

To comment on something that NaCN said,
i find it ironic that a lot of people who like punk dislike rap and vice versa. Early punk and early rap were both virulent expressions of the musicians' distaste for the establishment.
However, since then, both have devolved into empty posturing with very few exceptions.

I don't think a little alcohol is a bad thing.
It's important to know how alcohol makes you feel and discover your limits, so that when you find yourself in a situation where you end up drinking you know when to stop and don't make a fool of yourself.
That's better than always hearing 'no' from your parents and then going out and drinking a bottle of vodka with some friends first chance you get, making an ass of yourself in public, throwing up into a park fountain, bloodying your knees and elbows because you can't walk straight, and enjoying a two-day hangover afterwards. Good times.

I actually work in graphics production (illustrator/photoshop/quark/etc), and have done it on both platforms. I still find macs superior to pcs, mainly because of windows. I found windows to be slower, buggier, and more prone to crashing than any mac os.

As for memory, most of our machines have 256MB of RAM, which is barely enough. The ones dedicated to book production (running Quark) have 512MB, and that, too, is cutting it close. It seems that the complexity and size of images keeps apace the unending increase in RAM capability (come on, 8 GB of RAM, that's four old-school Cray supercomputers put together!!!)

Ahem,
1.) Flying. Invisibility would inevitably lead to evil. Plus, better thrills.
2.) Incredible luck. Not unlike Longshot from the X-Men or Gladstone Gander (anybody remember him?). First action? Vegas, baby.
3.) The Golden Turnip.

Geocities does not allow remote linking of images. There is no fix (that i know of).
The only alternative i know of would probably be to go host your site at another free provider.

Q&A....

1.) If you could have either the power to fly or the power to be invisible, which one would you choose and why?

2.) If you could have any superpower you wanted, what would it be? What would be the first thing you did with it?

3.) What would your superhero/villain name be?

I'd agree with the age limits. Lower the drinking age to 16, raise the driving age to 18, and make the hard drugs age at least 21.
Sure, legalization will bring a host of new problems with it, but I think it's time to face up that challenge. People should be allowed to have all the choices available for them. As long as they're educated choices. I would even advocate some sort of drug workshop where you can deal with some of the harder drugs under supervision.
I have no illusions, however. This will not happen in my lifetime, not in this country.
And, David, don't feed me this friends and family garbage. Some people precisely want to shuffle off this mortal coil because of the friends and family they've been dealt. I believe it a much better solution to let friends and family try to persuade someone to want to live rather than have a government mandate to stay alive.
But how much motivation can the father that raped you provide, or your alcoholic mother that beat you relentlessly?

LSD is NOT ADDICTIVE. And you won't get a headache when you don't get your daily fix of it because you drink thirty freaking cups of coffee a week, sometimes more because you can't sleep at night from all the caffeine you're pumping in you.
I say: legalize it all. The only regulations on the books should be as to the purity of the drugs, so you know exactly what you're getting into. Offer treatment, outreach, and education, and let those that want to kill themselves that way do it.
I honestly don't think a former cokehead partyboy knows what's better for me than I do.

Edit: I just noticed that this post was insanely off-topic, so, uh, TM, i like what you've done with Corey's farewell speech. Good job.
