Ah! Düsseldorf! I am living in Bonn (NRW, too) and because of the loads of diplomacies which were here befor the re-union of Germany there is a very large international school and even a large american settlement. But since their diplomatic agency moved to Berlin non-americans are allowed to live there, too. Posts: 55 | Registered: Tuesday, October 22 2002 07:00 |

That innocent mark is simply mistake by my poor english. Before it was an settlement owed by the US, guarded by americans with barriers and trespassing controls. It was build in the 50´s after the HICOG shifted its seat from Frankfurt to Bonn, where was not enough living space for 600 Americans and 900 Germans. They build three areas with dwellings (?), and the american settlement is one of them. After the Bonn-Berlin removal most americans left to Berlin and the Bonner Livingspace-Company boughed the houses and is letting them now to interested people. If I know a town where people from all over the world live peacefull together, then it is Bonn. Ten years ago there were pupils from over 90 nationalities on our school, actual about 60. I was not suggesting a lack of peace, Iolanda. It used to be the same in Berlin in the former american sector. Trespassers (Germans) prohibited. I just remembered that my father walked with me through that sector when I young, showing me the houses and mansions he knew, as he had been playing with the former owners children as a kid. Long ago. Don't trouble yourself with that. You triggered a memory, that's all. And I'm from Germany, too. At least we're off the topic of COMPLAINING WHEEEEE SO FUN about grading systems... ok, so if all of our grading systems suck, then what's a good one? Actually, this should be on the pet peeves topic: - People who complain about everything, but have no sensible way that would actually work to improve on what they are complaining about.
