Wow... Looks like Jonestown Part 2 happened over the weekend here . I may not be the most enlightened being walking the face of this planet, but the level of discourse around here has dramatically fallen over the course of the last two weeks. I wouldn't blame anyone for not wanting to stick around and see where it's headed. -------------------- ... Posts: 647 | Registered: Wednesday, February 19 2003 08:00 |

Sorry, grammAr is grammAr anywhere in the english-speaking world. And weird is always spelled 'weird'. It's pretty much the only word you'll ever use that has an 'i' after an 'e', people, so how about remembering that one? Please? -------------------- ... What are your pet peeves? You know, things you can't stand, that drive you crazy, etc.? Please, only list things from Real Life (RL), NOT internet-related stupidity. Some of mine: - eggcrate. I can't stand to touch that cardboard-maché that egg cartons are made of. Makes me cringe. - aspic. If you don't know what it is, keep it that way. Most horrendous substance ever conceived by man. - cell phones with invisible headphones. It used to be that only genuinely demented persons would walk down the street, gesticulating wildly and blabbing at high volumes. Now, with those small button headphones, the streets are filled with raving lunatics, describing their every move with maximum verbosity. -------------------- ... Jan 4th. Capricorn/Buffalo, a pretty obstinate combination. Also a quiet day in history: Caligula and Charles Mingus both died, Utah was admitted to the Union, a 33-year barbers' assistant strike in Denmark ended, and rollerskates were patented. -------------------- ... Hmmh, this is actually tough, having only been here 4 months.... Let's see: Drakey... Seems nice enough, has a fruit obsession and claims to be five years old. Not really desert island material. Sir David... I would most likely relentlessly try to convert him to my worldview. If I succeeded, he would be useless to me. If I didn't succeed eventually, I'd have to eat him out of sheer frustration. Pass. Alec... a french-spouting hard case who loves to pick apart every word you say. The island would turn into a "Highlander" movie right quick, methinks. TGM... a hyperactive finn? Although you could probably play sandhockey with the guy for days on end, I can't claim to understand him. ef... smart, caring, educated...and holds my mothers beliefs almost verbatim. Pass. RentBoy... I get enough of that guy every day. Plus, he scares me. ;) Scorpius... If nothing else, it would be interesting. But it would also have serious "Lord of the Flies" potential. Thuryl... don't know too much about him, but seems to have potential to be like the Professor from Gilligan's Island. I'm more the manual labor sort myself, so...maybe. Djur... I'd probably get sick of his pining. Saunders... don't know much about her, but she makes up stories and seems to have a pretty twisted mind. In conclusion...Saunders, probably. No offense intended to the aforementioned personages, real or otherwise. -------------------- ... Posts: 647 | Registered: Wednesday, February 19 2003 08:00 |

Yeah, the beret sucks. You'd have to be some sort of stunning creature to pull that one off, and even then the outcome would be questionable. But what's wrong with Goths? It's just a form of roleplaying, and they're not hurting anyone. They have my respect just for the cojones it takes to go out in public with some of those getups. Overdramatic? Maybe. Idiots? If roleplaying is idiotic, that says something about all of us, doesn't it... -------------------- ... Posts: 647 | Registered: Wednesday, February 19 2003 08:00 |

I never read...what was it? "Goodbye and thanks for all the fish"? So it might be terrible, don't know. As for Dashiell Hammett, i tried to read "The Maltese Falcon", but couldn't get into it. The rich snobs sitting around their expensive suites sipping cocktails really bothered me. I preferred Chandler's down-on-his-luck private eye, the man seemed more...real, i guess. -------------------- ... Posts: 647 | Registered: Wednesday, February 19 2003 08:00 |

There's nothing wrong with Doug Adams, it's just that this board is/was crawling with quite vocal fans of him, who never got tired of that whole 42 thing. I myself quite liked the Hitchhiker 'trilogy', but hated the first Dirk Gently book, so I stopped reading him. Raymond Chandler is way better at the private dick shtick than Adams could ever have been, psychics or not. -------------------- ... Posts: 647 | Registered: Wednesday, February 19 2003 08:00 |

But they're almost the same exact thing and they have no problems communicating. It's more of a dialect than a completely different language. Flemish is being discriminated against in Belgium, though, since all the government business is conducted in French. -------------------- ... No, it has color. It starts off in grayscale mode for some reason. You have to switch to color mode. It's under the options menu/color tables. Pick rainbow, it has the most. And for the cwk files: Appleworks can save them as tiff (.tif) files, which are easier to convert. Sorry this is such a trial for you.... Maybe try here: http://lightning.prohosting.com/~classicm/applications.html Lightning paint sounds promising. -------------------- ... Posts: 647 | Registered: Wednesday, February 19 2003 08:00 |
