Agreed. Back on topic: Has Jeff made this new scenario yet, or is he transferring the others right now? -------------------- DEMON PLAY, DEMON OUT! Posts: 1582 | Registered: Wednesday, November 13 2002 08:00 |

So that's been confirmed? It's a shame he wasn't able to find a way to keep custom graphic items. -------------------- DEMON PLAY, DEMON OUT! Posts: 1582 | Registered: Wednesday, November 13 2002 08:00 |

For the record, no, it's not called 'recoil'. It is refered to as "rear blasting", at least by us. Who is "Us"? United States Police Force Weapon Specialists, that's who. If you want something more offical, talk to a military weapon specialist. Being in law-enforcement, I don't deal with that many explosives. I am, however, familiar. Recoil would pertain usually exclusively to firearms. It's just the reactive force produced when a bullet is exploded. Ask away, children, ask away! -------------------- Fort Emergence Home of the [E.E.P.] Rage and vengeance are minions of me. The fists of the Phoenix will strike the unrightious. All with good reason. That's why we need some, ahem, beta testers to be checking into this. It's not that big a deal anyway, we can still simulate the effect thru graphic changes. -------------------- DEMON PLAY, DEMON OUT! Posts: 1582 | Registered: Wednesday, November 13 2002 08:00 |

I don't see how this could be so hard. Whenever it reaches "night", you send a script or something moving all the people into houses, and open up the black-market. It's a great idea, I do believe, and deserves some testing to see if it will actually work. On a side note, this feature is what many claim to be a major point-dropper in RPGs these days. Games that have such interactive worlds (ES3:Morrowind) but lack any idea of what time of day it is, really lose points in a reviewer's head. -------------------- DEMON PLAY, DEMON OUT! On the right track... I was thinking about guest stars as in (work with me here) how the Scooby Doo Movies did it. They had a special guest every episode, usually movie actors, and they helped "the gang" with their antics and solving the crime. My supreme lack of memory of BOE scenarios hinders my recollection of any such instances, but I do remember trying this once in one of those too-big-to-ever-finish attempts. -------------------- DEMON PLAY, DEMON OUT! I don't think it's even smart to spend time porting Bandit Busywork. Surely you could be making some other masterpiece. This probably belongs somewhere else, but oh well: What do we all think about mysteries? As in a scenario with next to no combat, just adventuring and puzzle solving? All thoughts are welcome. -------------------- DEMON PLAY, DEMON OUT! Posts: 1582 | Registered: Wednesday, November 13 2002 08:00 |

Bandit Busywork was indeed... yea... but I think we would all be happy with it just retiring. But someone will undoubtedly make something very similar. As for the new scenario, we can only hope it will be as good as our hopes are. I believe the problem with the original three was that they were the original. Jeff was working with new technology, and really didn't know what his engine was capable of. I'm sure he'll be doing a lot more testing and experimentation with BOA, so we can only expect top notch. If not, don't worry about it. There'll be plenty of high quality user made scenarios. -------------------- DEMON PLAY, DEMON OUT! Posts: 1582 | Registered: Wednesday, November 13 2002 08:00 |

Sounds EXACTLY like a BOE scenario I did once, minus the vampire. Of course I won't blame for stealing ideas, since how many people played it? 2? (Entitled: Dead Men Walking, look to see if anyone uploaded it) It was actually fun, and I won't normally say that about my own scenarios. It'll be interesting to see the possible endings for this one, so I'd give this a pre-emptive 8/10. When BOA is released head to my site for a full review, of course! Well this IS a different game... most of the A3 bugs should be non-existent, but expect plenty of BOA-specific flies. There was one point mentioned that we would have several slots open to custom PC graphics without having to run over the existing ones, but I have yet to hear anything of that anymore. This feature is wide welcome to me. Perhaps we should petition. -------------------- DEMON PLAY, DEMON OUT! Posts: 1582 | Registered: Wednesday, November 13 2002 08:00 |

Jeff has said that we would be able to port from the beginning. He hasn't specified exactly how it will work yet, but that's ok. Side note: we didn't even really ask him to include this feature. He seemed sure of it since alpha-phase. -------------------- DEMON PLAY, DEMON OUT! Posts: 1582 | Registered: Wednesday, November 13 2002 08:00 |

I tried to create a scenario telling the tale of what happens when Rentar comes back, but it was a massive waste of time in the end. I don't think that this war is meant to be told by us (as in non-Jeffs, or maybe Drakey). It's cursed, don't try it. -------------------- DEMON PLAY, DEMON OUT! 1- It has said that holidays will be possible (which makes more than enough sense). And calenders should be also, but I'm having trouble thinking of any use for them. 2- Paint works. -------------------- DEMON PLAY, DEMON OUT! Posts: 1582 | Registered: Wednesday, November 13 2002 08:00 |

Possible: Yes. Recommended: No. I also doubt his intent on writing it now... I believe he was refering to after he made the scenario, whether a walkthrough is a good idea. -------------------- DEMON PLAY, DEMON OUT! Posts: 1582 | Registered: Wednesday, November 13 2002 08:00 |

Well he's approved my work, so I can't complain full-heartedly. Hint: Nesbitt and Ragnar are the same person (me). As far as the point of your judgement, I'm not sure, but what prompted this horrid display? -------------------- DEMON PLAY, DEMON OUT! Posts: 1582 | Registered: Wednesday, November 13 2002 08:00 |

Jeff has already said no to music. I personally was the largest advocate of it, but he declined in favor of smaller file size. Yes we've already discussed MIDIs, and he's still said no. -------------------- DEMON PLAY, DEMON OUT! Posts: 1582 | Registered: Wednesday, November 13 2002 08:00 |

Rewriting, yes. But given the screenshots we were... given... the design process is in 2d, and looks a lot like the BOE engine. Walls look the same and such. The deal with monster inconsistentcies will likely be handled but telling the user which monsters don't line up, the showing him(her) which need to be changed. -------------------- DEMON PLAY, DEMON OUT! There's no (apparent) reason why not. Simply make a new graphic, apply all needed flags, and put it down. Makes sense to me. -------------------- DEMON PLAY, DEMON OUT! Posts: 1582 | Registered: Wednesday, November 13 2002 08:00 |
