Sliths and nephilms; they have different NPC reactions if you have them in your party. Will this be a simple thing to integrate, or do you need to script?
(If you didn't get it: No sliths, "Oh, welcome! Buy some food from us!” slith, "HOLY! IT’S A SLITH! TO ARMS!" geddit?

If Jeff left us an easy way to check for race, it's easy. If he didn't, it's impossible. I'd bet on the former, as there really is no reason he would take it out.

—Alorael, who supposes that hasn't stopped Jeff before. But really, racial responses are too much fun to be left out (beta testers, make a note if necessary).

I know there will most likely be choice to select racial responses for sliths and nephil but what about a choice for humans?

Example:
quote:
Your party has traveled to a large nephil city which is mistrustfull of humans. and wish to enter the city.
If there is a human in the party the response would be; "The guards seeing that there is a human in the party, refuse to open the gates.

A party with no humans; " The guards check you over. Satisfied, they open the portcullis"

If there is a slith; "The guards look at your slith with curiousity, sliths haven't been known in this area for years."

What do you think?

No, we can't create new races.

It dosen't really matter whats race of players you have on your team,it won't efet(spelling??) the game much. It dos cause some specale things but nothing thast will change enough to may it where you can or can note winthe game.

That is true in the Avernum series, but with the editor, players could make the endings possible depend on the racial mix of the party.

You could have four games. One if you have only humans, one if you have at least one slith, one if you have at least one nephil, and one if you have at least one of each.

—Alorael, who bases this on the assumption that you can't check for the presence of humans, only the absence of other races.

Well, with three races, you could technically have up to seven games, representing each combination:
N
S
S-N
H
H-N
H-S
H-S-N
(I thought it was eight until I realized you can't have no races)

True, but you'd have to have a way to check for the presence of humans.

Which wouldn't be too hard, (I think), depending on how close to finished he is.

hmm, well... what i don't like is that we are the generic joes, i mean humans have to have something to account for besides leveling fast, which makes no difference since if you register, you can jack stats anyway... is there a way to alter the affects of the races? that's probably been asked before to, well i'm lazy enough not to look :P

I hope there will be new graphics for the characters. I've used them all up in all three Avernum games!

From my understanding there are 2 new graphics for each race.
