I'm sure you felt the need to RP that... but if you are truly asking what scripts and the editor are, perhaps you should be reading some info about BOA before posting on said subjects. -------------------- DEMON PLAY, DEMON OUT! Posts: 1582 | Registered: Wednesday, November 13 2002 08:00 |

I wasn't saying Spirits don't haunt, just that Spectres almost exclusivly haunt. Spirits do, but get most of their kicks from serving undead kings. I think Shades would be classified as alternate-dimensional ghosts. They are what happens when someone messes with trans-dimensional stuff. A person's essence is copied, and ported over to another plane. But as said before, this is a touchy subject due to change in everyone's POV. -------------------- DEMON PLAY, DEMON OUT! You are devling into magics too evil to explain! i.e. People's categorizing of monsters will change as much as people's brain waves. For evidence, look to the fairy tale about the Three Billy Goats and the Troll at the bridge. Here, the troll is much like a gnome, while Tolkein would have you believe trolls are massive brutes. This can't be discussed to an end.... But as far as in the Avernum universe, Spectres can be refered to as an exceptional Spirit. While they are undead, ghostly things, they tend to haunt areas as opposed to Spirits just existing. Of course, this is all subject to personal choice. -------------------- DEMON PLAY, DEMON OUT! Perhaps I'm just missing the point, but I'm missing the point... The world of Avernum is hardly original (not saying I don't like it), turn-based combat will bore, and without any attraction points of the outer game world, any attempt at a MMORPG of Avernum would end in a firey impalation of it's own chest. There are already plenty of MMORPGs out there, more coming every year, surely you can find one that suits your playing tastes. I, for one, would like to avoid any further monthly fees just to play a game I payed $50+ bucks for. -------------------- DEMON PLAY, DEMON OUT! I doubt scripts would help in this situation. We just need to draw a graphic over the player. If I had my hands on a build of the engine, I could figure this out... -------------------- DEMON PLAY, DEMON OUT! Posts: 1582 | Registered: Wednesday, November 13 2002 08:00 |

Unless you are actually serious about making an actually HELPFUL gaming site, I'd suggest finding a free host. Paying for something that no one will ever visit is a waste. Try www.brinkster.com or something similar. -------------------- Fort Emergence Home of the [E.E.P.] Rage and vengeance are minions of me. The fists of the Phoenix will strike the unrightious. I currently have A3, BOE, Starcraft, Call of Duty, Diablo 2, Battlefield 1942, Rise of Nations, Half-Life, NOLF2, and Lord of the Rings: ROTK installed on my PC. I have infinitly more games than that, but those are the only ones I've really played recently. I've been spending most of my time on ROTK right in the past few days, and am enjoying it much. My roommate has an XBox, but I hate consoles and won't play it unless we have a big Soul Calibur 2 tourny, which the only good thing to do with a console since 007:Goldeneye tournys on N64. What's next? Uru is most certainly my next purchase, followed by BOA, then HL2 and Doom3 hopefully. -------------------- Fort Emergence Home of the [E.E.P.] Rage and vengeance are minions of me. Drakey do we have any new (not in A3) background noises to choose from? If not, that would be a nice thing to throw in, considering the amount of time needed to create them is probably minimal. -------------------- DEMON PLAY, DEMON OUT! Posts: 1582 | Registered: Wednesday, November 13 2002 08:00 |

A new question: What new stuff do we know on the ease of movie/cutscene making? Still easier than BOE? Edit: I doubt this is possible, but I must ask. Would there be a way to split the party up and have the user operate one group/person for a little bit (until, say, he pulls a certain lever), then cut to the rest of the party and operate them/him until they/he pulls a certain lever. After they do this, you could bring them back together in a small cutscene, or make the user guide them back to the meeting point. This would of course be impossible for a singleton, but we could just tell singletons to not play this scenario. Like I said, this probably isn't going to be possible, but please give news if it is. I admit to a stronger back than anything else on my body. I also play drums (bass drum specifically) in the local DCI band. If you want a strong back, play bass drum for years. As far as situps go, I'm afraid I'm going to have to wait to give you all a figure. Alas, I had an indoor soccer game today, and took a nasty shot to my gut. I effectivly re-broke a rib, and brused several others. While this aren't the most painful bones in the body to be broken (by far), it does somewhat inhibit the act of the situp. Perhaps in a few weeks... -------------------- Fort Emergence Home of the [E.E.P.] Rage and vengeance are minions of me. The fists of the Phoenix will strike the unrightious. Graemlins are what the board calls them, so it's inargueably true. And I've had fyora in my soup before. The initial taste is unsatisfying, but after that, you want more. Tis a sin that they don't live around my house/golf course/personal castle estate. -------------------- Fort Emergence Home of the [E.E.P.] Rage and vengeance are minions of me. Of course, that's because you live in Sandhills! Come on over to the Piedmont (Greensboro is where I reside)! On topic, I'm a futbol (soccer) player, so push-ups aren't much my thing. I'm not a complete wimp tho, so I'll do it later today and post my amount. Sit-ups on the other hand... now let's see someone beat me... Hmm perhaps I'll get my PC Gamer today. I haven't checked my mail yet so it's not out of the question. I also did plan on informing them of the release of BOA. And since TheVede and I are long old friends, they might actually play it! -------------------- Fort Emergence Home of the [E.E.P.] Rage and vengeance are minions of me. *cough* In addition to. *cough* I realize many's point of BOE having so many great scenarios that would be lost in translation, but also consider the point of the many new, brilliant scenarios capable with the new engine. It's like writing an interactive short story, authors can do the same great things without the same great story. -------------------- DEMON PLAY, DEMON OUT! Well good news about Za-Khazi... I'm sure it will be much more enjoyable this time. Bad news, though, that I'm currently Mac-less. Perhaps I'll get my chance to help with Window beta testing, though I doubt that. The estimated release dates sound right where I was expecting, so I'm not too suprised about that. It's not a long wait... and perhaps I'll be playing Doom3 or Half-Life2 in the wait :D (also doubtful). I am, however, frightened by what effect this will have on a community waiting for release. It's happened before, people just lose interest during long waits. But an idea of open-source editor seems an incentive. Great. We'll be looking for the next update in... oh... a month? -------------------- DEMON PLAY, DEMON OUT! Posts: 1582 | Registered: Wednesday, November 13 2002 08:00 |
