I think I know what he is talking about. There was a scenario in BoE (I forgot the name) that brought in the use of "guest stars" as an easter egg type thing. I think he was wanting to know if it would be good to use it in BoA. Otherwise, I have no clue what he's talking about.

Either 'that' kind of guest star, or a famous one, such as G. Bush or a famous person that isn't in politics.

The scenario that I was thinking about wasn't Inn of Blades, but yeah, those kind of guest stars.

A few cameos can be nice, especially if they're subtle. They're fun for board members and don't really bother non-members. IoB has so many cameos that I don't think someone who didn't know the members who appear could fully appreciate it, but you can choose your own scenario audience.

—Alorael, who has similar thoughts about famous people making appearances. As long as it doesn't impede the real scenario, it can be good for a few laughs.

Such cameos are fine. You may want to ask permission from the people first though.

Alorael might be surprised. More newbies who don't know the community seem to enjoy Inn of Blades more than more experienced members. Of course, this has to do more with subject matter- Stareye's review said, and I believe that it's right on this, that Inn of Blades is large, detailed amalgam of things that everybody has seen before. (Inn of Blades in retrospect was more of a learning experience for me as a designer in comparison to a scenario that took itself seriously. Interestingly enough, some people have taken a liking to it much more than some more of my more modern works. Twisted irony, if you will.)

On the right track... I was thinking about guest stars as in (work with me here) how the Scooby Doo Movies did it. They had a special guest every episode, usually movie actors, and they helped "the gang" with their antics and solving the crime.

My supreme lack of memory of BOE scenarios hinders my recollection of any such instances, but I do remember trying this once in one of those too-big-to-ever-finish attempts.

You actually say Scooby Doo as if it was a good thing. In this analogy I have to say that the idea of guest stars is an evil, evil thing that should never be done. Given another analogy I might change my mind however.

Not Scooby Doo, but Scooby Doo's guests. As in the Three Stooges once.

If you are asking whether having real movie stars appearing in the scenario and helping the party fight off hordes of monsters is a good thing, the answer is no. But subtle jokes are okay, as long as there aren't too many of them.

If you make it a comedy based scenario, I could see how certain guest stars could work. Try not to use just American pop celebrities, or your scenario will not be very funny to players not from the US.
