1) Avatar fight sequence in Basshikava catacombs-- I liked the tough betatesting version. Summoning platforms are cool. 2) Brawl in third level of Fortress Grenze in Canopy. Brawls are cool. 3) Chitrach fight in Basshikava. I thought this was well done. Thought the incredibly tough betatesting version was very cool. 4) Plate bug fight in Valley of the Dying Things. Big bug generates small bugs. 5) Lyfan in Emerald Mountain-- you have to run from an indestructible monster. 6) A Perfect Forest-- Perfect Spirit-- gets continually tougher and you get weaker. 7) Khoth mirror run in Za- Khazi Run-- you have to solve a puzzle while fighting. Then fight a bunch of golems and efreeti. 8) Kill the empire leader in A Small Rebellion.-- Escape after killing the leader. 9) Hunt the undead bands in Dealing With The Dead to receive rewards. 10) The Demon Gate in Backwater Calls. This was supposed to kill parties trying to reach the fortress. I stick with spiderweb games. Otherwise games would take up too much of my time. Not that Avernum isn't as addictive as Skribbane. I am addicted to Gremlin Merlot! This is from an idea I am thinking about (insect invasion) I am not a designer but it is stuck in my head. I probably won't do it but...-- A more advanced version of the Friendly Spiders and Roaches. Blademaster bug-- intelligent roach -- wields four swords-- thin lightweight rapiers. Put a hat on it, cloak, and boots and you have a funny looking critter. Librarian Roach-- multicolored cockroach. It has painted its shell with different designs. Resides in the ruins of a library-- collects books. Give it glasses and a staff. Armored Friendly spider-- Wears chitrach chitin. Alchemist Spider Bug Breeder Spider-- trains Null Gnats, Guardian Gnats, Eating Gnats. Trading Spider Enemies Venomous chitrach Giant Warrior Ant Giant Worker Ant Queen Ant Aranea slave master-- directs and trains captured bugs and humanoids. This party ran through all of the scenarios-- starting with valley of the dying things. It ran through every scenario in Blades of Avernum. The items which are shown are from-- Archmagi Michaels Scenario (at least five times) never released, betatested A Perfect Forest, Canopy, Lost Basshikava-- chopped through the unedited Catacombs easily, Backwater Calls, etc. They betatested through all of the high level scenarios at least three times-- the party is 82nd level. With the various knowledge brews and bonuses skills and abilities to be bought in the scenarios-- they are probably scarier than what someone would cook up in the editor on the first try. Scenarios completed are listed as 31. Plus went through one or two test areas that are not listed-- Battle Arena. The aim is to see if I can build a party up to God Level without using the HLPM or editor to raise levels. I think they will be strong enough to beat up a god party in a couple more scenarios. The items which Ssamson is carrying are Finely Crafted Shield (DWTD), Polished Platemail (yes I bought this from the HLPM), Hidden City Spear (Undead Valley), Miracle Helmet (Canopy), Miracle Boots (Canopy), Magical Greaves (Canopy), Blademasters Bracelet ( Basshikava), Khoths Charm, Ring of Vahkohs (DWTD), Giantish Gauntlets (Backwater Calls), Blessed Vahnati Bow (Undead Valley cheesy), 63 steel arrows, the other stuff is the most powerful items from the scenarios.-- Invulnerability Bracelet from Backwater calls, protection brews, rod of illusion canopy, defensive dagger (DWTD). Carrying Hidden City Cloak (Undead Valley). The hit points are the result of having Divinely Touched. The party has all the nastiest stuff from the scenarios in various combinations. (The party is Power Gamed-- trying to make the nastiest possible party without using the editor. You could also increase the monsters magic and other resistances considerably so spells simply are not as effective. Back to the update: What is currently in development. This is a summary. It is all up in the clouds and I am waiting for another scenario to pop out of the toaster. Can't wait. Since I last checked Lost Bahssikava, Canopy, and Backwater Calls came out. There were others in development: Dahak-- Longshanks Retr-O-- Saint Brevity and the Oochie squad Supanik-- The Yedda Prophecy and Hope Overwhelming-- Roussa Solodric-- Archmage Ascension Hawk King- The Way of the Guild Poit, Venom, Jade Wolf and Killercrono were working on unspecified works. Spineraker might be working on something-- guessing on this one. Jonah Zolohahni-- might be starting another one. (corrected) Terrors Martyr-- requesting graphics for new scenario. Lynkfox-- mentioned was working on mob graphics for a new scenario with his girlfriend. A cursed weapon. Healing sword-- whenever you hit a creature it casts a level 50 heal on them at power 4. 1-1 damage +1 point damage per level. +5 first aid. It still makes the creature or NPC angry though. This would effectively cut out the character as a melee fighter but could be advantageous for a larger party. -------------------- Wasting your time and mine looking for a good laugh. Summarizing the details so far. 1) Chess playing ghasts. 2)Dog in backwater calls. I think people like pets in a scenario. There are some other examples, wizards familiar, talking sheep, etc. 3) Herbal tea in backwater calls. Unique items that complete a quest. 4) Hidden mithril in Canopy. 5) Kassper the slith in Bahssikava.-- Unique or humourous things about a NPC. 6)Full boxes and chests. Little items in them like garbage or tools. 7) Bookshelves with stuff in them. No big sets of empty bookshelves. 8) Machrone. NPC's that can be carried over between scenarios. 9) Useless NPC's that have humorous or interesting things about them. 10) Bread in the oven. I think people like to find different things in containers. 11) Laser puzzles. Having to move around lasers or barrels to finish puzzles. 12) A wide variety of sidequests and little extras to do. -------------------- Wasting your time and mine looking for a good laugh. Something which is missing from most item design is the presence of items which are not completely combat oriented. I know there is not a whole lot you can do here. One of my favorite items in the scenarios was the Wand of Opening. Woodsmans Ring-- +3 nature lore, +1 first aid Seven League Boots-- +1 AP, +2 pathfinder Orb of Vision-- 20 charges farsight Wand of Piercing-- 20 charges remove barrier Acid is one of the strongest attacks. An acid golem would be very dangerous.-- 2 attacks acid touch. Spits acid. A trap which would really scare adventurers would be something which sets off a slow spell against the party then hastes a couple monsters or a pillar which fires forcecage spells while your party is fighting monsters. This is another thing which is not often done. Traps which do not damage but cause an effect which weakens the party so they can be ambushed. Paralyzing floor, poisoned water, etc. -------------------- Wasting your time and mine looking for a good laugh. Star Bright, Star Light, Oh I Wish I May, I Wish Might, Wish For One Star Tonight. I have a lot of hesitation with the military. But, one thing I have heard is that it is better to go in with a specific goal in mind before you join. Specifically taking a degree in aeronautic engineering and getting a pilots license can help you if you wanted to become a fighter pilot. You don't end up assigned in a role you do not want. If you know people who are part of a submarine crew, try and get to talk to the senior officers and find out what training they had before you go in. What degree from college, what kind of interests that put them in the right position. Read the military aptitude tests, there are publicly available samples, also there are complete descriptions of all the positions and career paths for the military. It is very easy to find yourself in an unanticipated position. -------------------- Wasting your time and mine looking for a good laugh.
