Yeah, thanks, I love all of you too. =\ Actually, Slith's horror story gives me an idea... not quite what I was hoping for, but it'll have to do. Weedy, "Halloween" comes from "All Hallow's Eve" which is a night for respecting, remembering, and celebrating the dead saints, blessed by God, and is therefore neither a pagan feast nor a celebration of evil. Admittedly, our celebrations do tend to include a dishearting lack of pyromania. We try to make up for it by putting razors and pins in candy and giving it to random children in adorable costumes, but you're right, there's nothing like a roaring bonfire to keep the teeming hordes of Hell at bay. Well, TPing and egging get old eventually... maybe this is the answer to my prayers... :P (for all you newbies who didn't know any better) -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon Polaris = joy. Less than a week from Halloween... does anybody know any truly scary stories? I haven't heard an original one in years. Post it here if you know a good one (preferably not too long). And please, people, give me some variety. -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon Polaris = joy. :) I've already said goodbye too, but goodbye again anyway. Don't be discouraged by hypocrites like ADoS who try to convince people that their religious belief (atheism) is truth and then condemn Christians for doing the same with a different belief. -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon Polaris = joy. ...no. If you're going to add characters, WS, that should help it. That's what struck me - the lack of a clear subject or story. Skillful shading could give it that; is it a drk, evil forest? A light and airy one? Or is it just a background for something else? It does seem unfinished, but I'm sure you've planned to fix that. -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon Polaris = joy. I played it once, a while ago... I didn't think it was terrible, but it definitely wasn't worth registering. Alorael explained why best. Lost Souls, in my opinion, is the only good RWG, but I've never played Sub-Terra. Is that good? -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon Polaris = joy. I think it depends on how you're looking at them. The race, for instance, would be vahnatai, just like humans are humans. But it makes much more sense to be attacked by a Vahnatai warrior than by a vahnatai warrior. A fort would probably belong to the Vahnatai, but an architectural design would have vahnatai influences. I don't think there is such a thing as a ground rule for this. -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon Polaris = joy. A fox, Stuggie? I like it. I'm trying to think of a good animal costume to wear this year - bear, maybe? Gorilla's been done, unfortunately. Otherwise I'll end up wearing a mage robe my mom made for me and wishing it weren't so warm. How does your school's track team do against Saratoga, Apollyon, do you know? I know Saratoga goes to plenty of national competitions. Running seems to be our specialty. We're not bad at football, either - I think our record works out to something like 2:1. Homecoming isn't bad here, in my opinion. All the "counter-culture" people "rebel" against it, of course, but on Friday before the game you'll see a sea of blue and white, even if they're all upperclassmen preps and jocks. On Tie-die Day I wore my dad's shirt from the 70's which apparently made me look like a flamer, but hey, it was only one day. The senior and junior floats were great, and winning the football game made us feel pretty good about ourselves. I'm not sure I would've gone normally, but I had to play bass drum in the marching band. It wasn't too bad - I was in two pictures in the newspaper the next day, the crowds loved us, and it felt good to have control over the whole band - but... well, I'm not made for walking with a big drum strapped to my torso. Eh. I survived. I'm not too pleased with our social structure, but then, I'm not too pleased with society in general. We've got many distinctive social groups, each of which thinks they're better than all the others, but there's not much in the way of open hostility. They all say they hate each other, but they tend to not practice what they preach, thankfully. I'd say there are as many intra-group fights as there are inter-group fights. Not the best, but acceptable. Saratoga's supposedly one of the best schools in the county, and I can understand that. -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon Polaris = joy. It's in that place southeast of the Taker town, I think in the upper right corner of the place in GF1. Geneforge isn't really designed for nonviolent play. It might be fun to try, but then again, it's more likely to be boring and tedious. -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon Polaris = joy. Actually, I'm pretty sure mine was free, with insurance and all. The supplies cost you, but so do syringes. It's worth looking into, I think, although I also know people who have looked at the pump, some who tried it, and couldn't care less. I prefer it to injections, but you have to make the decision yourself. -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon Polaris = joy. quote:A "joke" I was told several times in Slovakia (must've been lost in translation or something...) - A boy walks into a bar and orders a beer. "I can't sell you a beer," the bartender says. "You're too young. Order a soda." The boy replies, "I would, but I can't afford it." Maybe soft drinks are cheaper in the US, but that's not the case everywhere. I'm not big on alcohol myself, underage or no, but I've got a friend who drinks with his college friends and nothing has happened yet. They seem responsible, but every time he mentions it I worry that I'll ask where he is one day and someone will tell me he's dead. Eh. Little more than baseless paranoia, but still. On a more positive note, does anyone know any traditional Slovakian drinks? I had a sip of something over there that burned like hellfire, even though it supposedly had a very low alcohol content. Very spicy, kind of fruity, white wine, I believe... anyone know what I'm talking about? -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon Polaris = joy. You don't have to be old to have type 2. A twelve-year-old girl at the camp I worked at this summer had type 2 diabetes. She was also 250+ pounds, but hey. Are you on the pump? I've found that it allows me far more freedom and keeps my blood sugar relatively stable no matter how much I eat. You're right, minimizing sugar (and fat) intake is the easiest way to do it, but it's not quite as enjoyable. Not that cutting down on sugar is a bad thing, of course, but diabetics shouldn't have to cut down on it any more than anyone else should. -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon Polaris = joy. *lacks drawing talent entirely* Actually, I can draw a reasonably good still-life given 6 hours or so. But it's not really worth it. Diabetes is a pain, BtI, but it really shouldn't limit you any more than common sense would limit any other human being. I have found very few things to be too sweet. Type 1, I assume? How many people have you slaughtered for acting upon the assumption that you're allergic to sugar? If that notion were removed from every head, my life would be so much more enjoyable... -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon Polaris = joy. The first sketch was a very good beginning sketch, MSW. Why not find more pictures of the same person, or find pictures of a new subject? The business was almost started in my town, though, so I suppose that's close enough. My own homemade ice cream is quite good, too, as is my dad's, but it isn't produced fast enough to sell. Sexy. I believe there's a small island like that off the east coast of the U.S., too, although its population consists only of the tyrant himself, as far as I know. Got his own constitution and all.
