I was looking around randomly yesterday and I stumbled across this...

http://www.sealandgov.com/history.html

Sealand is actually a former anti-aircraft defense platform that was just outside of the nautical territory of England at the time it was formed. A former British military officer took his family there, declared it the Principality of Sealand, and named himself and his wife the Prince and Princess of Sealand, which was later upheld in courts.

I just thought that this was interesting. Today it's home to the world's first "data haven" - a data storage system in an unrestricted, unlegislated area. Too bad most of the world's other countries haven't recognized it - I think it would be neat to actually have a country with no "natural" landmasses.

And, um...stuff. =^.^=;

(Note: The picture in the second link (a cattaur) contains "mannequin nudity" or "anime nudity" depending on which term you like better. This means that although the subject is unclothed, nothing anatomically correct is actually shown. Sorry. =^.^=
It also still has a few issues I need to work out, like the hindpaws, but for the most part this is the finished lineart. Comments are welcome, as always.)

To Sealand, brave fellowship...to freedom! =^.^= *Considers the possibility of a Sealand RPG*

Ze link is broken!

The Sealand one that is. We actually have quite a few small islands just off the coast that have declared independence at one time or another. Quite a few successful ones aswell.

The cattaur looks good, once again the back legs seem a bit off, but in a stylish way.

FBM - The link works fine for me...

StD - We could always just build our own. But ours needs to have at least part of it be underwater.

And thanks to both of you for your comments. =^.^=

Okay, it is working now. I'll just be quiet, while throwing random curses at the link for making me look like I don't know my ISP from my URL.

Sexy.

I believe there's a small island like that off the east coast of the U.S., too, although its population consists only of the tyrant himself, as far as I know. Got his own constitution and all. Some eccentric inventor, I think. Reminds me of Family Guy, except... not.

SA - Oh. Wait. Wrong board. Never mind! ^^; Very good drawing, by the way. ;D

Okay, now that that's out of the way, the idea of an entire nation floating on the sea is almost, almost as cool as and entire nation floating in the sky. The idea of such a place actually existing literally blows my mind away.
Especially that it's a land without internet restrictions...

It's a good drawing, but the front legs look odd.

Yep. There's actually one at my site right now, but all but one or two of the drawings there are

a) Very old, and
b) Very bad.

View only with protective eyewear. =^.^=

I will have the new and/or improved stuff up soon, though. I promise. =^.^=

David - Um, do you mean the cattaur is sexy, or that Sealand is sexy? =^.^=

Maveriq - Yeah. I guess you could try to found a nation on a giant blimp or something, but you'd still have to land within other countries' limits for maintenance every once in a while. Or you could just put a bunch of really strong magnets in your city's foundation and hope the planetary magnetic force under you stays constant... =^.^=

ADoS - Thanks, but how exactly do the legs look odd? Are they too close to the same width throughout their length?

Whoa. Kitty face overload... =@.@=

Whyte: the picture is less revealing than most advertisements for department stores. I wouldn't worry.

interesting about sealand. Of course I would always prefer to build my own island completely from scratch.

also, I thought that Sealand was the island part of Danmark, though they write it Sealand, we wright it Zealand. Thysli: New Zealand.

The weird part is I have planning to start my own country or colony for a long time. But now I have a new idea I shall make a floating island.

Well, I'm thinking of a floating city ala Caldoria (Journeyman Project, Presto Studios, PC/Mac, 1991) and just float around the world, teleporting down to wherever I needed to be...
That would be teh keen.

I know it isn't, being created in WWII and all (or something like that), but I just had the thought that if our country was named after a not even natural country and found it funny as hell.

I'm gonna have to build my own country.

Two different Sealands. If you look on a danish map:
Danmark Map

You will see Jutland and... oh. Zealand. but it's sealand to them. oh well. And I am not sure of the history of NZ if, actually the name comes from denmark, or what. ernywayz.
