1) Two. Three, if you count killing both Stalker and Jaen. Four, if you count killing neither and just leaving the island.

2) Yes.

4) No.

6) There's a very nice item as a reward, but it's a lot of running around to get it.

Well, Nightfall was loosely based on a book, and that was pretty good for its time. On the other hand, Blade of the Jedi (although based on a movie, or rather, a series of movies, rather than a book) was really, really bad.

But no, this scenario isn't based on anything specific; just a selection of everything that's filtered through my mind.

Those caves end in a barrier in the southwest. Find it then report back to Maynard for a solution.

In the version of Nethergate I've got, you can't start with more than the first 6 spells in a circle even if you start with a higher level than 6 in one of the circles.

In case you're wondering, yes, this is the same scenario as Magician's Choice; it got a name change. Find it here:

Those are Australian dollars in my post. To convert to American dollars, multiply by about 70%. You can get an absolute bare-bones broadband deal for about $30 Australian per month, but that only allows 200 MB data transfer per month, which is manifestly inadequate.

Oh, and in general, over here, you buy the cable modem from your ISP at the time you sign up for the plan, rather than renting it. It's about $250 Australian, so not a trivial expense.

Comparing DSL to cable depends on where you live. Over here DSL costs about $100 a month compared to $70 a month for cable, and DSL's slower. However, in some places it's the only option.

I don't really fit well into a couple of the questions on this poll:

-- I have cable, but don't always have access to it, so sometimes I'm on dialup.

-- I browse with Javascript enabled, but not Java.

To push mirrors, just try to walk into them. You're meant to push them into the beams that never turn off, so that you can get around those beams.

There's a vampire in the big outdoor cave area, a little to the north of the Major Waste Repository. Don't attack him unless you're very well-prepared.

Go right to the bottom of the school. After negotiating a series of caves you'll find a control room where you can turn on the power in the Major Waste Repository. Return to the Repository and you'll be able to use the Crystal of Power there.

If you drop a huge number of items in one area then sometimes the less valuable ones will start disappearing. In general, though, items stay forever.

The challenge comes in doing things that seem as if they can't be done, or doing things that can be done in a new way. For example, alchemy in BoE kind of sucks, because potions can be bought and most of their effects can be duplicated with spells anyway.

In designing my soon-to-be-released scenario, I wanted the player to be forced to use alchemy, and so found a way to make it useful and indeed necessary. Creator also created a scenario (Areni) based around alchemy, and implemented it in a completely different way.

Basically, the fun is in making things do things they were never really meant to do. It's a little like those guys who proved Minesweeper was Turing complete by implementing Boolean logic gates in it.

You won't gain experience from killing monsters if you're at a much higher level than they are.

Luck gives you a small chance of not dying from an attack that would normally kill you.

1) Far to the north, past some lava.

3) Did you talk to the person who gave you the quest?

4) I don't think so, but some of the barriers aren't worth breaking.

5) I've beaten both. It's much easier if at least one of your characters starts with a Priest Spells level of 5, so that you can cast Enduring Barrier to prepare before the fights.
