Djur - are you aware of the experiment involving a number of perfectly healthy psychology students who checked themselves into a number of different mental institutions under the (false) cover-story of a single episode of hallucinations? Apparently the average stay before they were let out was around 2 months. The staff at the institutions (who, obviously, weren't informed of the experiment) reported all sorts of aberrant behaviour from the subjects.

Maybe we haven't gone so far from the days of the Royal Bethlehem after all.

You don't actually need the information about the opal in order to get the opal.

Well, you can get past the shrooms without the charm, but it takes a long time. The best thing to do is take the shroom charm, then break into her treasure room and steal the scroll. Of course, this makes Morog hostile, so kill her afterwards (hey, she's an undead, it's no great loss to the world).

The apprentice in DwtD is behind a secret passage outdoors, to the west of Vahkohs's castle.

Antipsychotics aren't as benign as ADoS makes out. A few patients suffer potentially fatal convulsions, and there can be debilitating long-term side effects as well. Still, some people do need them.

I rather enjoyed the TaskMaker games too. Of course, it was possible to horribly abuse ethereal potions to skip many of the (obscenely elaborate) puzzles, but maybe that was the point.

I didn't; I changed my surroundings. I think I have just the same potential to be violent and unstable as I always did, but nowadays I avoid people and situations that tend to bring out that potential.

Unfortunately, when someone thinks the whole world is out to get them, that's not much of an option. Sounds like what your sisters really need is medication, if that improves their condition; of course, it's hard to convince them to take it when they think you're trying to poison them.

Can you think of any time when they weren't so intensely antagonistic toward you? If so, try and think about the features that characterised that time, and whether you can bring any of them into their lives now.

Editing graphics isn't really so hard. Just edit the colours, cut away a few pixels from the bottom of the cloak to make it look more tattered... there you go, brand new graphic. You'll still want to give credit to the original designer, of course.

It's simple. You want to be related to, but as a symbol; a celebrity or a case study rather than as a person. You want to come to people predefined, so that you can gain the benefits of social attention without the effort of developing your personality.

Since about a year, I wrestle with an inferiority complex. With every passing day, this obsession, which is deeply entrenched in my mind, gets worse.
Most narcissists do feel inadequate. That's why they're so dependent on the approval of others.

Remove the beam in your eye before the mote in his. "Abilities" is spelled like this; it's almost never correct to use an apostrophe to pluralise. (The exception is when pluralising letters of the alphabet; "A's" is considered a Standard English plural form of the letter A, for example.)

Well, I find a d30 is useful for selecting random numbers from 1 to 30.

Seriously, though, I suppose it'd be useful if you needed to select a random day from a month for some reason or something.

Apology accepted -- and allow me to add that I'm impressed. Most people just keep on ranting when someone does that.

People who obsess about graphics annoy the rest of us too, but we find antagonising them to be counterproductive.

There are actually dice with more than 20 sides; I have a d30 (each side is a rhombus), and I've heard of d100s that actually have 100 sides.

To make things easier for you:

http://rachea3.tripod.com/avernum3/id7.html

Scroll down 3/4 of the way to where it says "Priest Spells" and "Mage Spells". If you need to know exactly which spells are sold by which salesperson, well, to the best of my knowledge, no such list exists. Go make one yourself.

Some of the questions are pretty subjective, and will tend to mark people who see things in less absolute terms or have a greater capacity for self-reflection as being at risk of personality disorder. That's a pretty serious flaw, since in general people with personality disorders have a reduced capacity for self-reflection.

Some of the questions are similar enough that it'd also be interesting to compile an MMPI-style consistency score on the answers.

Regardless...

Paranoid: Very High
Schizoid: Moderate
Schizotypal: High
Antisocial: Moderate
Borderline: Moderate
Histrionic: Moderate
Narcissistic: High
Avoidant: Very High
Dependent: Very High
Obsessive-Compulsive: High

These results are similar to what I got last time I took the test, but overall slightly better (that is, less disordered).

The limit is 20. Also, make sure you don't have any files other than scenario and graphic files in your scenarios folder; extraneous files can cause weird bugs.

I'm all kinds of messed up, and I used to be a very violent person. Nowadays, I have enough sense to simply avoid situations that make me angry. I'm not really any more stable now, but I'm no longer a danger to others. My advice is to ask your sisters what makes them angry. I know it's unfair that you'll essentially have to walk on eggshells around them, but remember, chances are that they don't actively wish you harm most of the time; they're no happier than you are about the fact that you keep infuriating them.

I moved my party in combat mode and split them up so as to more efficiently mess around with the beams. I think it's possible to solve the beam puzzle without doing this, but it sure makes things easier.

I attended an anime convention once. The whole thing struck me as a little pointless after a while. I'm sure I'd have enjoyed it more if, like certain people who shall remain nameless, I had an inordinate fondness for Asian girls.

If you have that much time on your hands, you can always buy Blades of Avernum. If you run out of scenarios to play, you can make your own.
