I'm on Mac OS 10.1.5 running the latest version of BoA, and not only do outdoor signs not work for me, signs in towns sometimes don't work either. The same sign in the same town can work fine one time I look at it and then fail to work completely the next time.

In case that wasn't clear enough, it's a regular item, not a special item. Lots of people trip up on this, since it was a special item in BoE.

quote:
When someone like Tarl "leaves", do they leave the scenario password with the Moderators, or Spiderweb?
Nope.

quote:
Or, is it probably included with the original submission of a scenario for you?
Nope again. This is part of the reason why many designers nowadays don't put passwords on their scenarios at all.

quote:
If someone, like myself, has questions, would all the answers be available?
Maybe. You stand a good chance of getting an answer if the scenario is popular (as most good scenarios are, although there are some reasonably good but mostly overlooked scenarios around).

The good news is that Bruce Mitchell appears to be on some kind of one-man crusade to make utterly comprehensive walkthroughs of every scenario he plays, right down to the level of what coordinates within towns contain special encounters. As a result, he's very helpful when he shows up on the boards to give advice. He hangs around the Lyceum (along with a number of other experienced players), so you might have better luck asking for help there.

... by the way, there just might be ways to look into scenarios without having the password. But you didn't hear that from me.

There have been several Tower of Magi utility scenarios made for BoE, but none is an exact replica of the one from Exile 3. See this page for a list of the attempts.

Unfortunately, download locations aren't linked from there. The Tower of Magi Starter Kit is available at Alexandria, and I think some others are available at SW's utilities page.

Bless, haste and use Enduring Barrier before the fight starts. Run around a lot until you whack into something, then start beating it up. Since spellcasters aren't all that useful in this fight except for healing, have them do the initial running around to find where the warriors go when they teleport, then have the fighters in your party follow behind them to do the attacking. I managed to beat the Holy Warriors with a level-25 party, but I needed Divine Aid; if your PCs aren't Divinely Touched, now might be the time to down a Heroic Brew or two.

Rate JV's Scenarios in Blades of Avernum

What *i is saying is that a rating of less than 3 on SW means you basically don't want the scenario to be listed. Scenarios with an average rating below 3 will be removed from the SW tables.

Count your blessings. It sometimes happens to me for indoor signs too, and I'm using BoA 1.1.1 for Mac. Hopefully it'll be fixed if and when there's a new version of BoA.

My opinion is that the fusion of puzzle and battle is one that started in earnest with Doom Moon II. Of all the scenarios I've played, DM2 was probably the most influential in terms of how it affected the way I designed combat in Roots.

This sometimes happens to me in BoA, on the stat screen. I'm not aware of any way to fix it except for closing and reopening the stat screen; depending on where it's happening in GF2, doing something similar may or may not be an option for you.

Since the community seems to be divided about evenly on the question of criminal liability, what about civil liability? Should each driver be responsible for the damage they alone caused, or should all driving offenders contribute equally to a compensation fund for victims of road traffic accidents? One advantage of the latter approach is that if one particular offender lacks the funds to adequately compensate for the harm he caused, his victims aren't left out of pocket.

Accidentally killing someone isn't even a crime at all (except in specific circumstances such as driving under the influence).

Suppose two people of similar physical and mental characteristics drive away from the same bar on the same night, both having consumed the same amount of alcohol. Both crash into different parked cars on the way home. One of the parked cars is occupied; the occupant dies on impact. The other parked car is unoccupied. Both drivers remain at the scene of their accidents, and are arrested once police arrive.

Should the two drivers receive different sentences? If so, why?

First 10 hits appear to be relevant and Windows-related. Google is your friend. I'd try to summarise, but they'll probably make more sense to you than to me.

At least the solstice is a scientific fact -- although it's over now in any case.

(Actually, I've lately taken to using "Yuletide" as it makes me sound slightly less like a flaky pagan than "solstice". Unfortunately, it's also less accurate, since I don't even have a fireplace to burn a Yule log in if I wanted to.)

It's not actually *named* the Illusory Shield, but it's illusory and I forget the real name.

But yes, it's impossible to keep it for any significant length of time. You can still use it for one or two fights, in theory.
