You're Roman soldiers. There is surprisingly little extant documentation of Roman soldiers employing magic. Hence the lack of spells. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Caution: depending on what you want to do with this, you may also need to add checks to make sure the variable's value is within the legal range for an SDF after you increment it. Avernum is a remake of Exile targeted at today's generation of players, who demand a modernised engine (i.e. flashy graphics). The story was kept essentially the same (apart from one or two additions) because it was less work than making a new game. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Stop drinking fluoridated water. Seriously, though, are you not regaining lost essence even when you stand next to an essence pool or rest in a friendly town? Even when you have no creations? And your essence bar isn't already full? If you're not gaining experience, it could just be because you're at too high a level for the things you're killing to give you any XP. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Casimir is not an entirely uncommon name. There was a moderately famous physicist who went by that name, for example. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Um, hang on. If he's already at the controls, he doesn't need the runed stone for anything. Are you sure you don't mean the Crystal of Power? You get that from the Vahnatai. quote:Sex refers to biology; gender to psychology. There are cases where the two aren't identical. One can argue about which is the better question to use in a poll, but don't conflate the two. (This is also why the term "gender reassignment surgery" used to refer to "sex-change" operations is simply wrong; the surgery is actually an attempt at changing sexual characteristics to match the patient's gender.) Unfortunately, you may be out of luck. DaC was rushed to completion for a contest and as a result it can be frustratingly unpolished in parts. If you've already tried and failed to use the charm, you can still try the method I explained in my previous post and see if it works, but other people have had problems with it. It may be easier to just start over, and next time not try to use the charm until you've shown it to the priestess. Wikipedia says the volatile oil of anise can be used to treat flatulence and colic in children. Seems like as good a reason as any to put it in sweets. The popularity of anise in alcoholic drinks might be explained by the fact that such beverages turn opaque if watered down, telling drinkers something they'd probably like to know and would otherwise have trouble telling short of the fortuitous appearance of a trout. Okay. Please tell me you didn't try to use the Death Charm immediately after finding it. If you did, and saved afterwards, you may be in trouble and have to start over -- there's a bug in the scenario, you see. There's a secret passage outdoors, just a little southwest of the only friendly town in the scenario. You'll find a priestess there who teaches you how to use the Death Charm. After that, go back to the academy and see what interesting results you can get by using the Death Charm. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! If you spent your childhood thinking goatse was something harmless and innocent, perhaps it's best that you were disabused of such notions sooner rather than later. If, as seems more probable, you spent your childhood not knowing what goatse was, there wasn't really anything there beforehand to die, was there? -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! As for who to credit, at a bare minimum, credit your graphic designers and betatesters. If you borrow other people's scripts, mention that you've done so, but there's no need to credit the writers individually in the readme -- the scripts themselves usually include their writer's name. People who just helped you throw ideas around don't need to be credited unless you feel as if they've made a very significant contribution to the scenario. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! I was mildly expecting the plural to be incorrect, although I thought Kelandon would be the one to correct me if anyone. Well played. At least I know better than to say "octopi". EDIT: M-W says "ignorami" is OK as a plural. The OED doesn't mention it, though. [ Wednesday, June 08, 2005 16:12: Message edited by: Thuryl ] -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun!
