I had already had my fill of anthropomorphic cat communists before seeing your PnP setting. :( (That said, you should at least work out your core system first.) Posts: 3234 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

While it's sometimes frustrating, what happened to Neverwinter Nights? It's networkable, and a little like a classic RPG. Having direct control only over yourself can be frustrating, but it's not a bad game. Posts: 3234 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

BoE: With +50 weapons, weapon skill doesn't matter. BoA: One polearm-user (good pole weapons certainly exist, but artifact pole weapons are few and far between) and one sword-user (artifact swords are a dime a dozen). Posts: 3234 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

My current best party is a Slith who uses spears in melee and is basically the party's point man and tank, a Human who uses swords in melee and is the party's biggest damage-dealer, a Nephil dedicated archer who kills things with Adlerauge, and a Human mage/priest who takes care of all of our magical needs. I've found that mage/priests are much more effective than trying to develop a dedicated mage and/or dedicated priest, as while it will delay your access to higher-level spells slightly, the massive amounts of SP will make up for it. On the other hand, I've also heard good things about a party of archer/priests. Perhaps one of the people who plays one can pitch in on that? While 10 days isn't always an unacceptable topic revival, Aran's already chosen which board host to use, so it was rather pointless. Posts: 3234 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

I still have a few BoA scenarios I'll be beating in between NWN sessions once I get back to school and a real computer. Posts: 3234 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

Sadly, that's woefully outdated. Still, the lines for the Halberd of Calindor, Adlerauge, and Maximilian are correct, and pretty illustrative of the uber-weapons of BoA. I'll update in early January, when I get back to my real computer. [ Friday, December 23, 2005 13:31: Message edited by: Imban ] Posts: 3234 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

Higher Assassination is always a boon in BoE, since you'll eventually outlevel every monster you meet, and assassination can even let you defeat invulnerable foes. Stareye's recommendation of Luck is pretty sound, too - with 5 Luck, you will notice a marked decrease in your dying. With 20, you will be utterly shocked if you are somehow killed. Poison Use is really worthless, sorry. Posts: 3234 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

Yeaaaaaah. As far as I can tell, most of Exile and Avernum's stuff would be just a few new races, monsters, and magic items. Geneforge would have its three Shaper classes, and a few new races, a whole bunch of new monsters, and some new base and magic items. EDIT: I'd go with making the Shapers base classes, too. Aizo had a large hole blown into it during the Arena timeline, but that was hundreds and hundreds of years after the fall of the Empire, and thus far outside the setting of Blades, really. Doston may or may not have risen from the seas, but it was not discovered at the time of BoE. It was the original setting of the Arena. Posts: 3234 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

Well, admittedly, I'm known for using the editors in BoE and BoA to fix things if I get stuck in a scenario, but not to make myself stronger. I just use the editors to attempt to get around fatal bugs in the scenario. Posts: 3234 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

Bah, there really wasn't any moral ambiguity in Roses of Reckoning. Hana and Kurojutsu were engaged in the creation of undead (usually a bad thing), had killed before (Harold), and threatened to wipe out the nearby town unless you intervened and killed them. Regardless of their attempts to paint the Empire as forcing them into evil, I firmly believe that they were evil vampires who deserved the die. :P Posts: 3234 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

I dunno, TM. In Roses of Reckoning, you butcher two evil vampires and they die. No one who is not an evil vampire or a servant thereof is butchered or dies, except for a poor zombie. It's a pretty solid party win, I'd say. Also, did you disown Echoes: Black Horse, or just forget about it? It's possible for that to be a total party win, at least. (Granted, it's equally possible for the party to leave with things in a far worse state than when they arrived.) Um, if there are any other shops within talking range, you could try selling items while you have 25000 gold until you get up to 27000, then talking to the augmenter without moving a step. Posts: 3234 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

Hawk King, I really don't see why he should do that. They're two very different questions, and this one in particular often spawns some debate about what should be accepted for geography. Posts: 3234 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |
