Mostly mac stuff here. I do use Microsoft Office, however, because I want the world to be able to understand me. I use Safari for some reason, and Outlook. For instant messaging I use iChat, which I'm surprised no one has mentioned yet. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

I'm very obsessive compulsive, so I like to explore things in the order that they are numbered in the hintbooks. Unfortunatly, this meant I was really thrown off when Cotra appeared right in the middle of Dark Waters in Avernum 2, and I was totally lost when there was no longer an outdoor map in Avernum 4. But in the end, it is still nice to have those nice, printed maps on hand. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

Angband. But no, I don't play old games. They suck, there are plenty of semi-old newer games that are way better. I don't think I can ever stress enough how badly Realmz sucks. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

a) Jeff doesn't make the characters graphics. b) and c) This assumes that everyone plays with the same skill level. I hate that people always whine about overpowered characters. Such things really only matter in multiplayer games when the classes are pitted against each other. If someone want a challenge in a single player game, they can pick a different character. Not everyone is a masochist. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

I didn't like Garzahd's cameo only because I think it belittled what was once a great an mysterious character. Come on, exploding in a 'comical' spray of bones and dust? That was pretty funny, but he deserved better. I usually like returning characters, though, and I look forward to other Redmarks, and I still have hopes for even the smallest of Rentar cameos. I'm sad about the respawning monsters. I liked the fact that there were almost none of those in Avernum 4. It gave me a feeling of completeness when I totally cleared an area. You can unlock the doors to that drakon's canisters and use them before giving him the rings. If you do this, he will not take your puresteel rings and you can not clear the quest. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

I love those cases too. Something that has been angering me about computer games recently is that many are now coming in new, oversized cases that don't fit into racks, forcing me to buy new cases. Bastards. I suppose Jeff's don't fit into my racks either, but at least they are small enough to not take up too much space. -------------------- You lose. Fallout 1 and 2. The best RPG there is, if not the best game of all time. Lots of sex and violence, crude humor, language, a great story, awesome characters and bad guys, it looks very pretty, amazing scenery and feel to it, has a great engine (looking at how Jeff's engines have been evolving, I think he drew much inspiration from it, actually). Did I mention there's lots of sex and violence? Knights of the Old Republic. If your also into Star Wars, this is a must. I like the fact that you can choose to be good or evil, and this game is second only to Fallout in that department. There's nothing like stealing from beggars, and constantly killing people that annoy you in any way. I've also just gotten into the Elder Scrolls series. The newer ones are amazing. The world is huge. Massive. There is so much to do. So many quests to go on, so much treasure to find, so many people to kill. Finally, if you're willing to pay a bit extra for an mmorpg, World of Warcraft is the way to go. I haven't played others, really, but people I've spoken to that have say it's the best. All hail the mighty Blizzard Entertainment. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

quote:I'm not so sure this is a good thing. Something is just not right about becoming the Arena Grand Champion, the best fighter the land has ever seen, at level 1 using the rusty iron armor and sword you found in the tutorial dungeon. The leveling process is an important part Jeffs games, if not almost all RPGs. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

quote:And just what was the matter with the hero system? It was great. You guys will complain about anything, won't you? I agree that Spiderweb games have better plots. I've always said it's the reason I play them. I hate their combat, which is why I always cheat, but I always come back for a good story, which is something Elder Scrolls is indeed lacking. Now that I think about it, the Starcraft plot can really only go downhill at this point. The expansion ended with Kerrigan victorious, which is the best ending I could have hoped for and most of the people I didn't like all died, which was awsome. I really hope Kerrigan doesn't pull a Darth Vader in the end. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

You do need to like RTS to like Starcraft. Most will admit Starcraft is the best in its field. I didn't think it was so much better than my personal favorite, Warcraft II. I'm still happy to see the continuation of the series, though. So Imban, you found real time, first person, sword slashing, magic shooting, good graphics combat boring? I don't understand how one can enjoy Spiderweb games and not appreciate far more sophisticated ones. They're more anal than Jeff when it comes to placing forks and spoons, and you can even read every book you find on the shelves. It's really the next level of RPGs. By the way, you can turn up gamma in the game menu to render torches obsolite... -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |
