I don't think he can be any character that has already been named. After all, if he was, why not just call his by his name? I don't see how it adds to the plot to make it a mystery. Really, it would be better to just call him Goettch or Barzahl if it was one of those. It must be either the PC or maybe just nobody special. -------------------- You lose. You can leave the that section blank. If you wanted to play the game before the CD arrived, you could download the demo, put the code in, and play the game as soon as you got the confimation e-mail. But if you can wait, it doesn't really matter. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

White noise? What the hell? Look, I'm no expert. You're going to have to explain what exactly is wrong (and probably how to fix it) in order for me to fix it. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

You see another party (with names and all) in Avernum 4. You also find dead bodies in various dungeons, or you might find people in towns reminicing about adventuring days. But it would be cool to meet heros from previous games. It's not like the game has multiple ending like Geneforge. We know for sure most of the things each PC is going to do, so it wouldn't be that big of a deal. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

I used to think Monarch was the PC. It says Monarch wears tattered shaper robes, which is pretty much identical to the description of the PC at the end of any Geneforge game. Both Greta and Alwan seem to know him personally, and the two of them have very little on common other than their time spend with him. Also, the PC founds an empire in various Geneforge endings as well. But now I know who Monarch really is. It's obvious. A crazy man taking over the world from his basement? It's Jeff Vogel! -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

I don't think it should be done with polls. What's to stop me from registering multiple accounts to assure my victory? It should just be posting your vote, like the other one you made. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

The door is in Geneforge 2, and it's mentioned at the very and as a cliffhanger. It tells you what was behind the door at the very end of Geneforge 3, even though the action doesn't really get started until Geneforge 4. -------------------- You lose. The best you can hope for is that sometimes people speak of them. They reminice about the great heros that found this and killed that... and then they mysteriously disappeared, of course. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

1. Oh, yes. Big time. You'll know by the end of the game. 2. Yes. You can change your mind quite a few times. Even if you work against them, I think the rebels will be willing to take you even up to the final island. 3. Sort of, yes. It's not that bad, but the Shaper ending is always better if you avoid canisters. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

It will use the Blades of Avernum engine. So it won't be like Geneforge or Avernum 4. But the scripts should still be just as editable. Hopefully, though, it will come with a character editor so we don't need to worry about such things. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

Heads turned as the two gods, Ashtaro and Fallian, found seats for themselves in the crowded casino. Fallian spoke first. “So, what brings yet another divine brethren to the city of Kirkwood? You’re the god of knowledge, yes? Out gathering knowledge, are you?” “Actually, yes.” Fallian laughed lightheartedly. Ashtaro didn’t understand what was so funny. “Anyway. I’m here to complete a bit of a report on the latest additions to the pantheon.” “Ah, very official business, I see.” Fallian was bored already. He glanced around the room, smiling at all the awed mortals staring at them. Then he turned back to the god of knowledge. “So you want to ask me questions! Tell me, what do I get for answering these questions?” Ashtaro sighed. “I’m not going to play one of your games. You’d probably just rig it like you just now with the game those mortals were playing.” Fallian looked hurt. “How could you say that? I am the god of ambition! I do not rig games! I am merely interesting in getting people to play them. Getting people to take risks is my purpose in life. I am not so concerned about what the outcome is.” Ashtaro got out some parchment and his pen to start writing things down. “And how did you end up as the god of ambition?” “Ha! To get more out of me, you have to give me something first. No games. No fortune. Just ambition. What are you willing to give up to get what you desire?” Ashtaro shook his head, but he was willing to play along. “I have boundless knowledge at my disposal. Is there something you wish to know?” Fallian frowned. “You lose nothing by telling me something you know. What is something important to you that would miss if it were gone?” “I have nothing, Fallian. I live a very simple, private life of study-” “Aha!” Fallian looked around the room again, and smiled a wicked smile. “Then I want your privacy. I want you to stand up here in this casino and proclaim who you are and what you do. And make it good, too.” Ashtaro was now fully annoyed. “If everyone knows who I am, they will pester me nonstop as long as I’m in this city!” Ashtaro glared at the god of fortune for some time. Fallian smiled back. Eventually, Ashtaro realized that he was completely serious. Alas, he wasn’t going to get that information any other way. And so he stood, all eyes in the room already upon him. “Uh... behold mortals...” Ashtaro said in a less than enthusiastic voice. “I, uh, am Ashtaro, god of knowledge.” “Tell them you know all the secrets of the universe!” “But I don’t know all the secrets-” “Just say it!” “Uh, all the secrets of the universe are at my disposal.” Ashtaro looked to Fallian. Fallian gestured that he should do more. Ashtaro, unable to think of anything else to say, let out a simple flash of light that lit up the room. The casino patrons ooo’ed and ahh’ed. Finally, Ashtaro sat back down, knowing full well that the next few days would be that much more annoying thanks to Fallian. Fallian smiled, most pleased with himself. “Excellent. Ask away, oh god of knowledge.” “Right, let us start from the beginning. How did you come to be a god?” “I have always been a god. Pure blood; a son of gods. I was born of the goddess of the harvest and of the moon itself. I suppose I inherited my mother’s fickleness. And as for the moon.” Fallian looked out the window they were sitting next to, the moon was full that night. “Well, it is sort of coin-shaped, isn’t it?” Fallian reached out and pretended to grasp the moon with his thumb and index finger. Ashtaro had heard stranger things, interestingly enough, so he decided to leave it at that. “And your age?” “Pass.” Ashtaro clenched his fist. He was nearing the end of his rope. “You can’t pass, we had a deal.” Fallian looked a bit embarrassed. “Fine. I’m seven.” “Seven years old?” “We pure blood gods do not age as mortals do! I may be seven, but I have a mind and body as powerful as any other god!” Ashtaro knew this was true, there had been younger gods, even. Sure, Fallian’s mind and body were fully developed, but perhaps his age might explain his behavior. Ashtaro made note of this for future reference. “And what of your following?” “Ah. Well, seven years isn’t a very long time, so I don’t have an official following, so to say. I have been traveling, making a name for myself. It turns out that helping people to stumble upon huge fortunes is a great way to increase one’s reputation. I am already well known, and it seems only a matter of time before I settle down with an official church.” “Great fortunes, yes. What of those that lose your little games?” “Heh. There is always risk when-” Suddenly, Fallian felt something. He became distracted. There was much power in the air. Something big was happening in this city. It must have been what drew him here in the first place. He was about to say something but Ashtaro spoke first this time. “I sense it too. There are an unusual number of gods gathered in this city for some reason. I fear that something big may be happening. Something profound or something terrible.” “That’s one way of seeing things.” Ashtaro was curious. “Oh? And what is it that you sensed?” Fallian smiled again. “Opportunity.” -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

In Geneforge 2, if you want the perfect Shaper ending, the best thing to do it to kill everyone on every map. The one man faction would not only be a great way to end the series (most people agree that they don't feel comfortable with any single faction) but it would also be a worthy challenge to play through without that extra help from a faction. -------------------- You lose. It's tough to have that non-linear plot and still make it well developed. Geneforge 4 had a great plot, but it was more linear than previous games. Geneforge 2 was the least linear, but it also had less plot. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |
