For the record, I can't even transfer registrations to new machines with the same operating system (my job requires me to get new hardware often). I'm thankful Jeff is so understanding with these things. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

I was told it was for spamming... in the Richard White forum. Ironic, no? There was an open invitation (from a mod) to spam on that forum and yet I get banned for it. Anyway, another. Not really what this guy looks like, but I thought it was cool his name is used for an NPC. ![]() Edit: It says "Acteon" if you can't read it. We had a member with that name at one point, right? quote:Litalia is just as insane, if not more so, than any other canister user. She is arrogant to the point of forgetting you are in the room with her. She probably doesn't attack you outright because she doesn't sense a threat. What's more interesting would be a canister user's reaction to another who is similarly enlightened. At one point, you meet up with someone who has used canisters (I forget who) and if you have used them as well the game says you have a mutual respect for each other's powers. This leads me to believe that there would be peace if everyone used canisters, rather than the absolute chaos people seem to fear so much. -------------------- You lose. Downloaded the demo of Avernum 5. I get the above message when I try to start it up and the sounds do not play. I have an intel mac. Really a downer since I just downloaded it so I could hear the intro music quickly before going to school. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

Nothing would please me more than to siphon resources from other worlds and possibly replace them with the waste products from this one. However, we do not have the technology as of yet for such things to be cost effective. A trip to Mars now seems like a waste. -------------------- You lose. People just aren't willing to do what it takes these days. It's what makes you all so weak. You talk all high and mighty of freedom and rights but when the time comes to walk the walk, you run back to the Shapers and their laws. Disappointing. -------------------- You lose. It doesn't get much better than being me, does it, Salmon? Speaking of original names, I had another account before this one but I lost the password a long time ago. This is the vibe I'm getting: orderly genocide (Shapers/Nazis) is prefered over chaotic destruction (Rebels/Soviets). So you guys all seem to prefer Hitler over Stalin. Interesting choice. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

I think the biggest problem with the system was that you could play through the entire game without gaining a single level and the monsters would stay easy enough to beat even if you had the worst skills and crappiest items. You could become the Hero of Cyrodil, slay that demon lord guy, and even be the best fighter the Arena has ever seen all while still level 1, wearing rusty chain armor, and wielding a rusty iron shortsword. I prefer games with things that are too hard to do until you reach a higher level. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

The Elder Scrolls series had the worst leveling system of all time. You had to pick certain skills to be your main skills (blades, lockpicking, jumping, etc), and each one was attached to an attribute (strength, intelligence, etc). Once you gained a cumulative ten levels in your chosen skills you would gain a level, the respective attributes would rise (you had to plan it all out otherwise you would be miserably weak), and finally monsters would become harder. It sucked... hard. It was the worst leveling system of all time, I didn't even figure out how the hell it worked until I had almost finished the main story line. I'm thankful Bethesda does not intend to bring that crap system to the new Fallout 3. It's all about the experience points. -------------------- You lose. I think the morality of Shapers is still quite underestimated here. Remember that one town, Valeya, I think. The guardian there was supposed to be infiltrating Rebel lands, sabotaging and spying and all that rot. But he isn't doing those things when you find him, he is patrolling the town, a town on the front, no, a town beyond enemy lines to protect its inhabitants. Where are these heartless, cruel people that are being spoken of? They take good care of creations, treating them just as well as drakons do, if not better, since they require more care than independant creations do. The drakons go so far as to aurthorize you (and help you, personally) to wipe out a nest of intellligent and independant ice drayks at one point. They even turn on their own kind whenever they get the chance. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

How are the Rebels any less autocratic than the Shapers? I would argue the opposite. Though it seems most of the nobility has taken up shaping, many smaller towns and even some larger ones are governed by non-shaper humans. Rebel lands, on the other hand, are, more often than not, lorded over directly be some kind of drakon overseer. You all seem to take for granted the many freedoms afforded by Shaper rule. People live in peace and prosperity under Shaper rule, creations are well taken care of. But even creations must grovel in the presence of drakon masters on the rebel side. The drakon's couldn't even be bothered when the human administrated Southforge fell. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

Call me paranoid, but I feel like if I change my name, something will go wrong or someone will steal it and I'll have to put a period at the end of it or something like that. I'm pretty sure this exact scenario has happened to a couple people here before. I did change it once though, on Holloween, to Tullegolar Maximus. -------------------- You lose.
