Arghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! Until this is ALL sorted out, I will not even CONSIDER Krizsan province in my posts. As far as I'm concerned, it won't even exist until we ALL agree on the same version of events. EDIT: By The Worst Man Ever: quote:Reminds me of one D&D session I played in. I was controlling the character of someone who was absent. My fighter and the party's priest failed their WS on a compulsion trap, and began fighting the rest of the party. Eventually, the only ones left standing was my fighter and the mage I was controlling. I had... fun playing with myself. :) -------------------- Beating my head against the Teflon wall of frustration... By St. Ashby the Martyr: quote:Exactly. In A1, there was an altar that, when sanctified, imprinted a demonic rune on the PC's foreheads, thus reducing reputation. Scratch, are you sure there wasn't a "run away" option? Thralni, what program do you use to create music? At my high school, we had a program which had just enough capability to create a rendition of 'Hot Cross Buns'. In MIDI format. Hopefully, it's freeware, and in English (I have Dutch ancestry, but that doesn't translate into knowledge of the language). -------------------- Error #042: User is incompetent. I'm fine with the Hunters staying. I'm fine with the Hunters leaving. What I'm not fine with is the Hunters in a state of limbo. I've tried to keep my posts ambiguous, but soon I'm going to have to know for sure. I want to know if I have to defend my western border. I want to know if I can go to Fort Emergence. I want to know if I can slacken off on the Nephilim deportation if Thralni comes south. -------------------- while ( <> ) { my $goldenkingtext = @_; $goldenkingtext =~ s/Hunters/Army of the Bright Star/g; push @newtext, $goldenkingtext; } (I've been doing computer assignments all day. Looking south for a moment, Diego could see the rowboats emerging from the morning mist. At long last, his Battlemagi were moving into North Karnold. He turned back to the matter at hand. "Captain, you are sure that the route to Angel's Rest is clear of enemy forces?" The mercenary leader nodded quickly. "Yes, Archmage. The Anama and the Looters do not have a major presence this far south. My group should be able to escort your men north with no problems, sir." Diego cocked an eyebrow. "And what of the marauding forces, the ones acting on the authority of the Anama?" He had heard of them while waiting to move in Golddale. Men on horseback, riding into towns and hanging those who disagreed with the teachings from Bigail. 'Enlightened' Anama indeed. The Agent leaning against a rock to his right - he had introduced himself as Jakob, and left it at that - perked up at this, a small smile flitting briefly across his lips. "I don't think your boys need worry their little heads about any yes-men. Trust me, the passage north is clear." Diego grimaced inwardly. He despised the Agents, the complete disrespect they showed towards authority. An Archmage should deserve better. Still, they had reason to exist for the time being, until the masses were educated. Once everyone was learned, there would be no need for such crude methods for control. Diego glanced back at the river. The rest of the boats had reached the shore, and his magi were getting off the boats. "Well, Captain, it's time you and I march north." *** It had begun. Demetrius sat in his chair thinking, the last of the Council members leaving the room. Archmage Diego should be able to handle North Karnold well enough. The reports given to the people of the menace in the north were over-exaggerated. Most of it was due to the marauders that Agent Jakob had hired. Demetrius smiled at that thought. Not only did it give the people up north reason to distrust the Anama, it also gave his Battlemagi all the more reason to fight against the Bigail scum. It was the Looters that worried him, among other things. Agent Denise had sent word that her infiltrators suspected a fair portion of the Looters were no longer in the area, and they had not been able to find exactly where they were now. With the Anama, it was relatively easy enough to reduce their power in North Karnold - being based on an island had its detriments. With the Looters, it was more difficult; they had no power base, they were little more than a band of raiders as far as he could gather. The news from the west was even more disturbing. His only ally, if the term could be applied loosely, was no more. Moreover, he had no idea what had happened with Fort Emergence. Was his group betrayed by the Hunters? Was it the forces in Upper Avernum? Or some faction he had no information of in Lower Avernum? All he knew was that he could no longer depend on an army at hand to protect his southern and western flanks. He didn't want what happened at Krizsan to occur at Libras, or Storm Port. He settled into a more comfortable position. This campaign was going to require a lot more thought, now. No matter what happened, he had to ensure the survival of the magi in the next Empire. He had to! -------------------- Grrr. I accidently closed my browser window while writing this the first time. I really, really, really need to know what's happening with the Hunters/*Army. EDIT: Yep, the dam's too damn overpowered. :) Lazarus, with my luck, I'd probably accidently close the Word window. TM: Most of those things are problems with the designer, not the engine. It isn't as if the Nethergate engine causes scenarios to have bad plots. The graphics are nearly the same, just rotated 45 degrees. And from the little of the Exile demos I've played before I've run from the computer screaming, the disparity seems to lie in the other direction. I understand your reluctance to change engines, though. If JV re-re-released the trilogy on the Geneforge engine, I wouldn't buy it, even though it's superior to the Nethergate engine. The problem lies in the BoA community, which is comatose, but not dead. -------------------- SotS? E:A? B2? NTH? Acronyms are fun! Posts: 1509 | Registered: Tuesday, January 10 2006 08:00 |

Ah, yes. The Gospel of Judas. I'll be putting it next to the Gospel of Thomas, the Gospel of Peter, and the Gospel of Mary. Does anyone know how old this one is? Ephesos: :D The same goes for Christmas. The birth of Christ most likely happened around late spring (shepherds in the fields, etc.), yet the day was placed in December, strangely close to the Feast of Mithras. Apparently, Christians were to think long and hard to decide whether to go to church or sacrifice a bull and take a shower in its blood (I think that's Mithras, I could be confusing it with another mystery religion of the time). -------------------- Gah!!! I'd advise you to find a sound clip that's similar to the sound of your voicemail beep. Then, when you finish recording your message, put the phone next to the speaker and play the sound. Wait for about ten seconds, then finish off the message with a "Ha ha! Fooled you! Here's the REAL tone... or is it?" Repeat as necessary. It's also useful if you're at home and bored. When the phone rings, pick it up, say a standard voicemail message, and then play the tone. Halfway through the schmuck's message, interrupt him/her. -------------------- Hello, this is Dintiradan. By Ephesos: quote:Hmmm... you're right. I wasn't that clear. How's this: if you find any of my examples make you uncomfortable, why don't Redstart's? By Redstart: quote:A woman is raped and gets pregnant. She gives birth, then kills the child after a few days. quote:A woman gets pregnant and gives birth. Later on, she decides the child is a financial burden and kills it. Of course, these counter-arguements mean nothing if you think a being magically gains rights at the moment of birth. By Thin Air: quote:Don't get me wrong, I admit that some pregnancies need abortions (such a tube pregnancies). But the creation of a hierarchy of rights is a very, very dangerous path to go one. I also find it funny that everyone agrees having an abortion based on gender is wrong, but having one based on economic situation is legit. EDIT: Wow. This is a hot topic. Demetrius tapped his fingers on his desk as he read the reports. Apparently, a small town halfway between Angel's Rest and Sharimik had been visited by a group of horsemen. These men had ridden in, captured a group of prominent citizens, and hung them, allegedly for 'refusing to kneel to the glory of the Anama'. Demetrius smiled, and added the report to the pile on his right. He didn't know where Agent Jakob had found all these men, but he had done his job well. Soon, the time would come. The last of the Battlemagi were trickling into Golddale. He had learned much about waging warfare with wizards the past few years. Plan ahead, and strike hard. Fear the drawn-out battle; a mage will run out of energy before a man or horse does. Hence all these annoying preparations. His enemies could not afford a long campaign, not while the people of North Karnold were crying out for justice. He looked at the next report, then placed it at the bottom of the pile. Yet another trade proposal with the Isles. Ecomomics could wait until tomorrow. The next report brought a curse to his lips. Another fire-fight, open in the streets. Thrice-cursed Looters! He needed the people to see magic as benevolent, not dangerous! He sighed; there wouldn't be much use explaining to the unlearned rabble about the differences between learned magic and crass magical items. Slowly standing up, he made his way over to the large map at the corner of the deserted council room. He would have moved his force north long ago, but the expected Hunter force had not arrived. By tomorrow, he hoped to receive a courier report from the west. The complete silence from Krizsan puzzled him. So did the lack of information from Fort Emergence, and Avernum. Shaking his head, he left the room, walking towards the kitchens. Lack of information was the thing he most feared in the expedition. He hated walking in blind. -------------------- I suspect the people of North Karnold are going to need a lot of counselling after this war... Wonko, I'd like to point out that a number of my Agents have no magical talents. It'd be a little unfair if every citizen of the Dominion could throw a fireball. Now I'm curious what's happening to Alexandria. Posts: 1509 | Registered: Tuesday, January 10 2006 08:00 |
