I was moving the party to a space where they were surrounded by stairway nodes. Like how Brett moves Jonah back and forth in Quint.

I'll just change the whole thing around them into blackness, I guess. Thanks!

Ahhhhhhh... I remember when this forum was full of posts, and I lurked among them gloriously...

Anyway, does Move Party not work in combat? I set it to trigger after a monster was killed, and the party was in combat mode, and it just said "Not in combat" and left me where I was. I thought I saw it work in Revenge, though.

If it doesn't work in combat, is there any other way to accomplish what I'm trying to do (move the party to a new town immediately after killing a monster)?

Drale grew tired of his war without blood. Demtrius was a very clever foe, and so were his Agents. He had sent men out into the citites to try and capture mages at any cost, but to no avail. He sighed.

Drale preferred when there was an enemy you could see and touch and kill. He preferred battles with swords and shields and wands, mostly when he had the wands. He hated these wars of propaganda. At heart, the Looters were really just bandits, and bandits are bad at inspiring the people beyond threatening them.

And no one in Softport had any magical items. There was one hedge wizard, but the Anama wouldn't let Drale frisk him. He sighed again. Then, suddenly, the door burst open.

Drale had a wand trained on the person that came in, but it was a member of his own organization. He had a heavy cloak and hood over his eyes. He held a scrying crystal, and muttered to Drale,
"A rogue band of nephils have attacked the village of Moon."
Drale frowned. That was strange, but of no real importance. He did not care what happened to Moon.
"An Agent spread more propaganda in Sharimik."
Drale pounded the table. It nearly splintered.
"Any good news?"
"Why yes. We captured a soldier of the Hunters and found out the secret of Tyrga's power. The soldier was unnaturally devoted to his cause, but we used scrolls that revealed his memory to us. He once saw a book with a spell in it in Tyrga's quarters."
"He did not think it was important, but our mages recognized it as the first few paragraphs of a spell that made the enspelled very convincing. We believe that this is Tyrga's power."
"Ah. Thank you for this information. You have been of service. I shall promote you." The man bowed and left.

Drale thought this over, and decided that he had two appointments to make. One was with the Anama, to enlist their fleet. And one was with the Guild, to enlist theirs. The two would come together in a surprise attack on Tyrga's ships, allowing him, Drale, to grab the book and escape.

Let Demetrius fight a war of words, he thought. I shall fight a war of swords. We'll see which is sharper.

OCC: Do the Anama and the Guild agree to go along with this plan? I'm guessing you don't, but if you do please speak up. If the Guild wants money I'll pay them.

I would not choose BOA over BOE just for graphics, given that the quality is only marginally better. There are many more and better scenarios in BOE (heck, I would buy BOE for Tomorrow and Revenge by themselves).

OCC: Thanks, Lazarus. So Softport is currently under the control of what? The College or itself?
IC:

Drale was pleased. In fact, he was quite pleased. The formidable armies of the Anama had agreed to be his allies in his struggle for the southern mountains, Kriszan, and ultimately the Library of Redmark College.

What's more, the College's ally, the Hunters, seemed to be almost universally hated. He had heard rumors of groups as far away as Vanatanas rallying against them. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, he mused.
At least until that enemy is gone.

Later that day, Drale took his men to she shore of Fenris Port and drew a crystal. It shined like a noonday sun. He paused, then smashed it on the rocks. Then Drale smiled.
----------------------------------
At that same moment, in the mainland mountains, a similar crystal spontaneously shattered into a million pieces. The five hundred people surrounding it nodded grimly. Two hundred of them drew their blades and fetched wands and crystals. Then, the mounted their horses, used a scroll of haste and one of stealth from scrying, and rode like the wind to Softport.

Drale himself sailed for Softport in one of the tall Anama ships. He had said that the Anama did not actually need to fight, that his would be sufficient, but they came anyway. They probably wanted to convert Softport.

When Drale arrived it was night. The other Anama were just a few minutes behind. He took a long slender crystal from his bag and put it to his mouth. When he spoke, his voice was magnified hugely.
"ATTENTION PEOPLE OF SOFTPORT! YOU ARE OFFICIALLY UNDER ATTACK BY FORCES COMING AT YOU FROM THE NORTH AND SOUTH! YOUR CITY WILL BE CONQUERED EASILY. DO NOT RESIST. IF YOU WISH TO SURRENDER, COME TO THE WEST PORT WITH ALL MAGICAL ITEMS YOU HAVE."
The last part was whimsy, but they sure listened to the rest. Citizens started panicking, and town guards were thrown into confusion. And even if they organized themselves, it helped that they were actually coming from the east and west, not the north and south.
Drale drew his blade. Let the looting begin.

Perhaps I am but foolish, but I thought that the Anama only disliked actual mages and mage spells. You can still use magic items when you join, and they did have that huge treasure hoard.

It is the NEW Anama as well. Lazarus might decree that it's okay. We'll leave it to him to decide.

Drale and several of his most capable men emerged from the mountains on fine steeds. It was a long way to Softport, and an even longer way without been spotted by that cursed college's Agents. But he would get there eventually.

Earlier that day, Drale had recieved the news from his men scattered along the southern citites that Redmark College was spreading propaganda in Angel's Rest, against order and the Empire. Drale didn't care much for order or not himself. All he knew was that it was the enemy spreading it. The citizens seemed to listen, however. He figured that city was as well lost; it was too far from his base and too close to the enemy's.

But Drale had recieved more troubling news as well. There was another faction who were allied with the College: the Hunters. Apparently they were extreme racsists, led by someone named Tyrgan. This Tyrgan had taken three cities from sliths in a day. A day. Drale was not over-optimistic; he knew that he could not fight a winning war against both. But there were rumors of Tyrgan having some sort of magical knowledge or power, and Drale was determined to investigate, and, if it existed, to seize it.

And so Drale headed for the Isle of Bigail. He did not agree with the Anama's outrageous zealotry, but they well and truly hated mages of all types. From what he had heard of the former Anama having a huge treasure hoard, he figured that they were not averse to magical objects. Perhaps he could form an alliance of necessity and against a common enemy.

OCC: An official offer of alliance, Lazarus, against Hunterking and Dintiradan. Whaddya say?

The forces really can't be that huge. Remember, all of that was unable to destroy a damaged Creator, and then lost the front lines when it was repaired.

6 fighters would not be able to take down an Ur-Drakon. 6 Elite Warriors, maybe, but only if they had him against a wall and kept stunning him. Drixiss killed around 15 Elites in the process of killing Rahul. Drixiss isn't even Ur.

As I understand it, "newbs" and "n00bs" are different. "Newbs" refers to new or inexperienced people. It is not derogatory. "N00b" refers to someone who is actively trying to be annoying.

Drale stood in his private room, examining his recently acquired wand. As far as he could tell, it contained some sort of fire spell. He poked at it and prodded it, but he could find out nothing more.

The door opened, and a man entered. Drale had never cared much for trivial matters like privacy. He was a practical man. He knew that there were those more powerful than him, and he tried to compensate for it by being as efficient and ruthless as possible.

Drale looked up from his wand. The man was Fengis, one of his most capable, if not trusted, men. There was a long scratch down his cheek that had not been there before.
Fengis adressed him "Forgive me for intruding, but I have interesting news."
"Pray tell."
"There are rumors of a place to the south. A place that some call Redmark College. It is a center for magi."
"Interesting. And how did you come about this information?"
"Ah.... There was a man who dealt in secrets. He came to the village, and he said he had secrets to offer me. We dealt. There were some mercenaries, however, that I believe were hired by the College itself. They had some business up here. They overheard us. Then..."
Fengis fingered the scar on his neck, and Drale caught sight of his blade. It was stained red.
"The other man did not live. This College appears to be a worthy foe. Perhaps we should relocate."
Drale shook his head. "Fengis, you fool. Do you know what magi use to study their art?"
"Books."
"Do you know where books are kept?"
"In libraries."
"Inside libraries, Fengis, there are also scrolls. And do you know what scrolls bring us?"
"Power."
"Exactly, Fengis. This is not ill fortune. This is an opportunity. Imagine how powerful we would be with the scrolls of a whole library!"
"You are advising an all-out attack?"
"No, Fengis. That would be foolish and rash. But we shall watch these magi. Send more men down to the cities surrounding the College. Find out all you can."
"Yes, Captain." Fengis left.
Drale smiled, then returned to his wand. All those scrolls...

OCC: Is is too late for me to join? I did do one of these things before, under a different name.

IC:

A small collection of buildings, barely a village, stood at the foot of the mountains of Valorim. Relatively untouched by the swirling chaos around it, the village had managed to go on farming. The only reminder from the massive wars that surrounded them was a single Empire Mage, a refugee from his army when it collapsed.
And, of course, a wand that he carried.
----------------------------------
A man on a horse stood higher in the mountains, overlooking the village. He wore a black cloak that had been torn and patched many times. Men in similar attire stood behind him. Some held crystals. Some held scrolls. Some held wands. But each one held a sword.
----------------------------------
The mage's name was Gidor. It was an ancient name, passed down through his family from generations. The first Gidor was a very powerful mage. His son was, too. But war and weariness had drained Gidor Junior. He was certainly no longer the mage he had once been.
Which was sad for him, because at that moment three men, dressed in black, tattered robes, kicked his door down.
Gidor summoned a feeble bolt of lightning, but his anxiety and fear made it go wide. Two men grabbed him and had him on the floor before he could utter anything else. The third walked over to where he lay, and looked down upon him.
"Hello, mage." His voice was guttural. "I be thinking that you owe me something."
"I d-dont k-know you..."
The third man nodded, and one of the two men who pinned Gidor put a knife to the mage's throat. He gasped.
"W-what do y-you want?"
"Just give me your wand, nice and easy, and we'll leave. It'll be as though we were never here."
Gidor's face hardened. "N-no! Not the wand! That wand was my father..." He stopped as the knife pressed down harder.
"I don't care if it belonged to the Emperor, old man. You give me the wand, or you die. It's rather simple."
Gidor looked at him, and then handed over the wand reluctantly.
The black-robed man put the wand in a bag. Despite being far too big, it fit easily in.
"Now, was that really that hard? Come on, boys." The two men who were pinning him got up, dusted themselves off, adn moved out the door.
"And before I forget..." He reached into his bag and drew a single knife. He threw it.
Into Gidor's throat.
------------------------
Drale, the black-robed man, rode off from the village. His new find was quite powerful indeed, even if he couldn't tell exactly what it did. He looked forward to getting back to headquarters and examining it.
It had been a successful raid.
------------------------

Faction Name: The Looters
Faction Leader: Drale
Faction Size: About 500 people, including families of soldiers.
Faction Headquarters: A hidden cave somewhere in the mountains of Lorelei.
Faction Location/Area: The Looters execute raids in the mountains of Tinraya and Lorelei, and some villages and cities near there.
Description: A former memeber of the Cult of the Sacred Item, Drale became an Imperial captian shortly before the Empire's downfall. When the Emperor died, Drale recruited fellow cult members, members of the Divine Lucre, and assorted mercenaries to create an army. He acquired a magical bag of holding and became obsessed with collecting magical items. He has hundreds that he can fetch at a moment's notice from his magic bag. Artifacts, Drale believes, are power.

Ouch. Do NOT bring back Pyrog. Please, please. The plot "Something is attacking Avernum. Stop it." is waaaaay overused. Liches are especially bad, as they invite non-justification like a lightbulb draws moths. Perhaps an powerful artifact that the Empire created in Pyrog Labs has been stolen by someone. Perhaps the party must appease the ghost of a powerful Empire mage that was killed in the war. You could even use your demons idea. But DON'T have giants and a lich attack everything.

That actually sounds like a decent idea for A5, minus the "Giants! We're all gonna die!" part. There were also some unexplored northern tunnels in A2 (you might explore them in A1, haven't played it) and some lands that were under the control of the Empire. The Abyss has all the charm of A1 and A2 in that completely random monsters and puzzles assail you in the outdoors.
Now we just need an original foe or challenge. I agree with Jeff in that monolithic evil trying to destroy the world is bad.

(I want the name of that anvil scenario!)

I don't think all the rebels have to die. Not every single drakon is bent on the destruction of the shapers. Not every outcast shaper is, either. Orois Blaze in G3 wanted nothing more than to run a sucessful business.
Perhaps after the rebels battle the shapers for a while, after the Council and the Ur-Drakons are dead, the ordinary grunts on each side will stage a massive rebellion against their leaders and then bargain for peace. You can only fight a war for so long before the general populace (in this case human soldiers, serviles, and intelligent battle creations) become tired of it. Orchestrating the rebellion and winning the ensuing battles would be a good Awakened path, I think.

(And no one's answered my question. Why and how would an intelligent, shaping-capable servile join the Loyalists?)

EDIT: Typo
