I'm with ya. I stopped reading this topic when they started having huge debates over authors I did not know existed. :P

Oy, Goldenking. This is not making a good second impression. Spontaneously ressurecting a whole army is not a good or balanced thing. Please edit your post.

As for a summary of the Krizsan battle, I have no clue as to what happened. TM seems to bend RP reality to his will with each new post. Ask him what the heck happened, please. I don't even know who won.

And I was going to do an IC post, but there was an attack of real life :P . I'll do one tomorrow.

I must humbly agree with Ash. Drizzt's system involved setting VTE flags and then using Word of Recall. It was much simpler, if only usable outdoors. Special Spells and and Animations are certainly more deserving of a "Genuis Award" than this.

That said, I've realized that you'd need to add a Relocate Outdoors special as well, to avoid reappearing back where you started. You could abuse that, though. I had the idea of a special spell, called "Safe Haven", that uses this to transport you to a place with friendly merchants and a place to rest and such. You would then leave normally and be right back where you started!

Ash, thank you. That's a much better idea than what I was using. I was using SDF's and special items, but I can just use special items only now. Heck, I could even have you choose a town and and then have the resulting item be usable so you could choose a location in the town!

The only sad thing is that I am likely to not be able to use this. My current scenario is a small towns-only thing about gremlins, and I have no idea what I'll be doing after that. That said, I give anyone else express permission to use this in their scenarios, provided that you just mention me in some small way in the readme file or something.

I have created a new technique for player teleportation that can be forced or voluntary, and can have multiple destinations. You could use it for an in-town day/night cycle too.

The basic gist of it is that every walkable terrain in the scenario calls local special 45 (or whatever) when you walk on it. The party recieves a special item (the teleportation item) that gives them special item 3 (or whatever). Special 45, in towns where you want to allow teleportation, checks for special item 3. If the party has it, the node removes it from them and does a forced stariway.

I have tested this, and it does work. However, I cannot believe that little old me was the first to think of this. Has anyone thought of this before?

The fleet that sailed towards Krizsan was quite a few ships larger now. Drale was quite happy that these Guildmen, Rubicante and Cagnazzo, had agreed to assist them. And he was even happier that the Guild's intelligence reports showed that the Hunters had no ships at all! Why, this was almost too easy!

Still, he must stick to the plan. When they were within sight of Krizsan, he would break his last signalling crystal to let his forces in Softport know to charge at Sharimik and Gidrik. With the Anama's blessings and their horses, they would ride fast. The attack would likely distract the Dominion, for this purpose, Drale wasted no time on anti-scrying measures.
----------
It was much later in the day when the watchman spotted Krizsan, but Drale's spirits had not sunk one bit. They had encountered a few puny fishing ships on the way. Drale didn't know or care whether they were Hunter patrols: a good fireball sunk each one. The ordinary people down here were so brainwashed by Dominion propaganda that they were as hostile to him as the enemy, anyway.

And now their prize was within reach. He could see the beginnings of a shipyard off the coast, but there were no servicable warships. Platoons of soldiers guarded the roads, but not as many guarded the docks. Their ruse would keep them from being fired upon until they were relatively close, and then all hell would break loose.

Drale lifted his fist and smashed the crystal. His men would ride for Sharimik. And he would ride for a much greater prize.

OOC: TM, you can do the attack of Krizsan if you like, and I could do the one on Sharimik. Or I could do both. Whatever you like.

Philip Pullman himself is a bit wacko, though. He recently made a whole speech calling Narnia "a stain on children's literature" or somesuch because of the Christian-ness of the books.

And I thought Douglas Adams already was a classic... in any case he deserves it. Every book in the Hitchiker's series is stunning, except for So Long And Thanks For All The Fish, which is made up for by the mere presence of Wonko. The Salmon of Doubt is a superb read as well.

OOC: Seeing as TM has not posted anything, I'll go on without him. He can join my mission later if he likes.
IC:

A fleet of merchant's ships set sail from Southpoint Lighthouse. Many men manned them, and each one carried a hefty load of barrels in the lower decks. Their destination was Krizsan.

From the lower decks, Drale watched as much as he dared through an enchanted scrying mirror. They were making good time, but it would take a while. The real challenge would be what happened when they arrived at their destination.
Drale had rented the ships from a group of neutral merchants that wanted someone to take care of their ships while they went to market to rebel groups in Pralgad. Drale neglected to tell them that the ships would probably be in bits when they returned. Then again, they might not return. Pralgad was a dangerous place these days.
Every man that had participated in the downfall of Softport was aboard the ships. Since the Anama refused to take any part of his plan, and the Guild had not responded, Drale was forced to alter the plan somewhat. He hid men in barrels, in closets, and put sailor outfits on the rest and had them man the ships. He did not count on the ruse to carry them too far in Hunter waters, but it was better than an all-out assault.

His plan was simple: sail as close as he could to Kriszan's harbor, and, when they were discovered, sail ashore in the ships and run a quick raid through Krizsan, and capture the spell that Tyrga had. The main part of Hunter forces would be distracted by an attack near Farport or some such area staged by the rest of his forces. Drale knew that plans rarely went off so well, but he hoped to make it through without too many casualties.

Morale was not high among the men. They were loyal, but they disapproved of the boss risking their lives for his own personal power. Let them dissent the plan, Drale thought. After I have the power, they'll listen to me. They'll listen, all right.

In the distance, Drale saw a patrol ship. They were about off the coast of Pergies by now, he guessed as he turned off the scrying glass. It will be interesting to see how this enounter goes.

OOC: Dintiradan, feel free to roleplay this encounter with the ship if you want.

I don't think that every quest needs a reward. Advancement of the story should be enough, and if you have no combat you probably have a pretty good story.

Look at most modern BOE scenarios. No real rewards at the end.

What I didn't like about it was the fact that it was basically a vehicle for ridiculous who-likes-who things that detract from the main story. Dumbledore's character also loses some of his splendor. However, I guess she had to write something like that at some point, to get it all out of the way and set the stage for what I really hope is the best book in the series. The worst possible crime a writer can commit is promising us a great mystery and then not giving us a satisfactory answer.

And yes, Orson Scott Card is amazing. I read Ender's Game, Ender's Shadow, Speaker for the Dead, and some unrelated thing he wrote called Enchantment. I didn't like that Speaker for the Dead as much as Ender's Game because the

I'll assume that you meant being well-known doesn't make something a classic.

Anyway, Harry Potter goes deeper than you think. The sixth book is admittedly a horror and disgrace to everything JK has ever stood for, but the other ones, particularly 3, are phenomenal. Look at some of the discussions in Mugglnet's forums.

Some surface dweller in a hotel (big pool of water, can't remember the name) said that they had heard stories about the A3/E3 heroes, but some stories said that the golem factory was full of conveyer belts and some said that it was full of lasers.

I actually groaned when I read that.

Guess. :D

I do have two other names I use for accounts for games or such. One is Last_Tonight, a delightfully chilling phrase that I found in a collection of both terrible and incredible fantasy stories.
The other is zam_bam, your typical on-the-spot random nonsense.

OOC: Nice maps! Only 2 quips:

1) I'm pretty sure that the Hunters had far more territory than that. Goldenking said in one post that he controlled everything between the Anama and the Dominion.

2) Shouldn't Alex control all of Aizo? His faction name seems to suggest so.

3) I have some outposts in the Tinraya area too, but I don't really control anything anywhere. I'd say just stick with the southern mountains and nothing else.
