Words of gold. I personally have a mortal fear of any programming system that involves actually typing stuff. I'm amazed at what you can do in BOA but have not gotten the editor because of Avernumscript. Jeff would gain many more customers if he made the interface resemble BOE more, IMO.

Kill the pylons on the way in. They don't anger the surrounding area.

And copying Alorael's sig is likely to result in a painful death by snipage. Don't say I didn't warn ya.

I would like to point out that Geneforge is the complete opposite of the "basic RPG mold" outlined in this topic. I find this refreshing, if not morally fufilling, and is probably what has made Geneforge so popular.

Debates on abortion are only murderous if you're anti-abortion :P .

But anyway, to steer the topic away from that, what questionable locking deciscions have you made? Worst I ever saw was Imban not banning TM after a post he made that was nothing but repetitive strings of "I have no clue why I'm not banned yet."

Blech. Matzah, while tasty in cracker-like form, is a bad substitue for bread. You wouldn't make matzah ball soup "bread ball soup", would you? Then please, major corporations, no matzah stuffing!

EDIT: Or matzah bread crumbs! Or matzah cereal!

I was pretty annoyed when he closed that topic too. I have no clue why he did it, though. He made it seem like he didn't like us arguing, but there are currently two spirited arguments here, and he hasn't closed them.
But after Ashgate, with the completely unnecessary deleting of topics and giving Ash no clear warning, I've accepted that these boards are basically a dictatorship.

We're lucky if this topic isn't closed. Ah well.

Did you beat him yet?

If not, then get Alwan and Greta. Use them against the worms. Have perhaps a fyora and you attack the Creator. Buy all the ice crystals the shop has. They take 3 AP and do 40-46 damage a pop. Use Daze against the worms. Then, when the worms overwhelm your defenses, Daze them one last time and unload all the ice crystals you have on you. This fight is extra-tough because you can also talk your way through with 10 leadership, I think.

That's how I did it, anyway. And Zeviz is right: if you want to be a solo magic user, play an Agent.

You seriously don't know what summoning is? You've never played Avernum or Exile or Nethergate?
Boy, you're missing a lot. In any case, summoning spells summon creatures to fight for you that disappear after a limited time. They're usually not that useful, but they're fun.
Jeff could even have an option when shaping something to make it disappear after a short time, like those fading creations that defended the spawners on Harmony Isle. Making a fading creation would be cheaper.

The Looters

The Looters attacked Krizsan with the Guild, winning the battle but losing their objective (the magical tome) when the Hunters burnt it.

More recently, Drale sent ten elite soldiers out to villages and towns to find and kill Agents. Currently one Agent and one soldier have perished.

The Looters have an alliance pending with the KIL (Karnold Isles League). They have plans to combine their own armies, the Anama's, the Guild's soldiers, and KIL forces for a devastating attack on the Dominion. Drale wants access to the magical library Demetrius has.

I won't pretend that I actually have a hope in hell of getting the beta, but if you can't find anyone else...

Name: Wonko the Sane will do fine.
E-mail: elirose93@sbcglobal.net
Platform: Macintosh
Previous Beta Experience: None whatsoever.
BOE Playing Skill: I'd say I'm pretty good. I got up to Castle Relaford in FS with a singleton. I beat every Arc scenario legitimately. I beat Quintessence. I nearly beat Revenge with a level 1 party, but forgot to go get the black amethysts.

Do you think anyone will choose "I do not want to be able to shape?" Shaping is the hallmark of the Geneforge series; you take away shaping, you're left with an Avernum that has a few quirks.

As for everything else I checked that I can remember:

New Spells: He should keep taking from Exile. Multitarget spells would be nice. So would summoning.

New Creations: A must. Probably the aforementioned Sea Drayk and maybe a creation that splits in two when you kill it, like a Doomguard.

Another thing that would be cool (but isn't going to happen) would be creation melding. You could blend an artila with a fyora for an essence cost and have a fire-and-acid spitting snake. Or blend a drayk with a battle alpha and you get a huge, two-legged reptilian fire-breathing monster (sort of like a Drakon actually)

Sholai: I think that they should be another faction. Maybe the Sholai look down on the warring peoples of Terrestia and decide that shaping caused it all. They try to wipe out all shaping with advanced magic or something. It would be interesting to lead raids on shaping halls and fight both the rebels and shapers as they battle.

New Factions: I think that four factions is a perfectly reasonable number. Sholai, Rebels, Loyalists, and Awakened. The Awakened need to come back again. Period.
