I do believe you're very near the line that separates getting others' opinions from talking about your scenario. :P

Also, you're not actually supposed to fight those monsters in the screenshot, at least not directly. I just wanted a good combat screenshot.
This is the second time you've stated that you're going for effect with your screenshots. I can't speak for anyone else here, but I would really rather see a plain, honest portrayal of the scenario than a misleading impression of it.

Yes, Dikiyoba is being slightly nitpicky.

Well, this is supposed to be "A general discussion forum for our company and games.", so you're fine.

And that is a nice looking slith spear(provided you don't show it off to someone who knows what it is supposed to be).

Now find a vahnatai waveblade and/or cloak, and Dikiyoba will be very impressed. :P

How bad is it that Dikiyoba first misread it as "What's your opinion on port towns?" and thought, "Well, they should be built next to water..."?

I think I've come across that a few times in the Geneforge series. Running away for several rounds before ending combat mode as opposed to only one helps a lot.

Dikiyoba looks at profiles whenever Dikiyoba runs across a name in the recent visitor's list that Dikiyoba doesn't recognize. Frequent PDN-changers tend get their profile looked at often.

Don't forget to turn the game speed up and turn off the special effects, if you haven't done so already, Thralni. It might make the games a little more bearable.

This is a better site for the Geneforge 2 cheat codes. It doesn't have "clearthisarea" listed, but that code is in the game.

Dikiyoba is still slightly disappointed that the code "igotarock" never carried over from G1 to the rest of the series.

He's in the barracks, not outside like the rest of the guards. Also, he only appears after you've gone to Drypeak Warrens and spoken with Zakary.

And the fact that he put his one "rule" in bold and it didn't make it onto the list while almost everything else has is probably another source of contention.

Furthermore, Nikki said a similar thing later on, and Jumpin' Salmon quoted a similar thing from The Creator (again in bold), so it seems to be quite important. Put it on the list.

That said, I did miss the joke. I didn't realize that you actually were refering to Undead Valley.
I wasn't aiming for Undead Valley when I put the description together. I was just putting a scenario together by doing the opposite of what was on the list. (Well, some of what was on the list. It's a long list.) But since you dislike Undead Valley so much, you put a bunch of things like that on the list. So it ended up sounding like Undead Valley.

Anyway, Dikiyoba believes that humor can help ease grudges, so try reading this.

Ephesos, before you claim that any of these rules can be broken, I suggest you take a good, hard look at Undead Valley. It broke many of the above rules, and is one of the most hated scenarios around, apart from Proving Grounds. I'm not saying you can't be creative. I'm just saying that straying too far outside of the rules can lead to disasterous results.
He knows. He beta-tested it. That's why he hates undead.

quote:
Dikiyoba, the description you just made is very close to a scenario that actually exists. It's called Undead Valley. I put the similarities in italics.
Dikiyoba fears that Nioca missed the point of the joke.

And I noticed that my rule was never added to the list. I meant it, too.
So, in other words, you're advocating the Undead Run Trilogy, scenarii with tons of superpowered items, three-part dungeons full of lengthy discussions, no new wands or classes of items, the party is required to do idiotic things to advance, terrible spelling and grammar, spots where all the party's equipment is destroyed, Rentar-Ihrno as the main villian, and a prostitute?

Dikiyoba could go on, but Dikiyoba thinks that everyone gets the idea.

Giant grub would work. Then you could have all the variations on it. Fire grub, queen grub, pickle grub (massive acid attack, maybe), etc.

Again, I fail to see the point. Lankan is rather hostile towards the Shapers, and clearly sympathizes with the Rebels.
You apppeared to be using Lankan and his followers as an example of people who didn't go to the Shaper for protection. I was merely pointing out that they did go to the Shapers for protection at first and only fled when the Shapers failed to help them. Even if they are oppressed, regular people still have a lot of faith in the Shapers. At least until the Shapers fail to protect them against the rogues and rebels.

quote:
2. Even you were to argue (on technicalities) that the Takers did start the war (because they struck the first blow against a regime who would genocide them if it was aware of their existence), I fail to see why my analogy doesn't work. Merely because it isn't a mirror image of the situation in question doesn't invalidate the analogy. That's the reason why its an analogy.
But the analogy is different enough from the actual situation that I didn't find it convincing at all. And we're trying to convince others that our opinion is right in this debate, are we not?

quote:
The principle I am attempting to put forward remains the same in both cases. Sometimes destruction is necessary to preserve freedom, equality and dignity.
Merely because they use destructive means to achieve their goals does not nullify the legitimacy of their cause. Many resistance groups have struck the first blow against their oppressors, such as the Greeks against the Ottomans in a struggle for an independent Greece, or the Polish against the Russians after the partitions.
See, that was a lot more convincing than your previous analogy.

Sort of like the Allies in WWII? I seem to distinctly remember Japan and German occupied areas being reduced to rubble by Allied carpet bombing campaigns.

Ahh, now I see. The Allies should have just laid down their arms and allowed themselves to be conquered by Nazi and Japanese imperialists. That would have been so much better than causing 'destruction'.
The analogy doesn't work, because the Takers started the war. They're on the offensive, not the defensive. All I get out of that statement is a very good reason why the Shapers should keep fighting to uphold their empire.

quote:
Like the rebels on the second island?
Didn't Lankan go to Diwaniya to ask for help in dealing with the rogues first, and only became a rebel after losing his temper because Diwaniya didn't do anything, though?

Edit: Dikiyoba looked up correct spelling of names.

I think it was a slip-up that you can't shape ur-drakons. The hint book lists three canisters of create drakon, if I remember correctly.

Enough other re-writing took place, though (like the worms), so Dikiyoba won't argue with that statement.

But giving them wrong answers does nothing to encourage them to use the search feature and has the potential to confuse those later on who do use the search feature.

Besides, in Dikiyoba's experience, the search feature is painfully unreliable, so it doesn't matter too much anyway.

What better alternative do you suggest? I seem to distinctly remember the Awakened of GF2 taking the diplomatic path with the Shapers, only to get destroyed for their efforts.
Not if you join them. If you join them, you provide just enough help and power for them to claim the mountains as their own and defend it against the Shapers.

quote:
Either way, Serviles who join the Takers are willing participants. No one holds a gun to their heads. Unlike the serviles who serve under the Shapers...
Dikiyoba doesn't believe for one moment that a servile or drayk who joins the Takers and then decides they don't like it has the option to quit. The other Takers would view it as betrayal and kill them instead.

Heh. Imagine being able to play a character with a third arm so he can hold a spear and a shield at the same time.

quote:
—Alorael, who has a far better challenge than being a geologist. Be a nudist! Throw off the bondage of clothes and armor. Bonus points for giving up weapons, too. Even more for giving up weapons and spells!
No, it would be better if one keep weapons and spells. But only one plays a human. With a blue color shift.
