Shipwrecked? Wasn't that the name of a BoA scenario that never got released? I am lost. As far as real scenario designing advice, look in the Lyceum's Designer's Forum and Spiderweb's Scenario Workshop's Editor Articles. Specifically, this was Creator's article. Just so people know, a person normally has to release at least one scenario for his advice to be taken seriously. Alternatively, put in a link to my links page, which makes it very easy to find anything. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Much better idea Kel. And the Shipwrecked thing... maybe I'm thinking of two things. Wasn't there a BoE scenario that featured "wrecked" or "wreck" in it's title that takes everything from the party upon entering? -------------------- And when you want to Live How do you start? The scenario in question shall henceforth be known as "The One That Nikki Forgot". It took things away from the player, and isn't important in any way other than to illustrate that doing nasty things to the player isn't necessarily bad. -------------------- And when you want to Live How do you start? quote:I never said that people shouldn't break rules when it comes to scenario design. I simply said that you shouldn't stray too far from them. By all means break as many of these as you want. quote:This argument would hold more weight if some of these suggestions weren't made by people who HAVE released scenarios. quote:I never said it was, nor did I treat it accordingly. Mad Ambition, Echoes: Renegade, Bahssikava, Exodus, and a few more I'm probably not thinking of all went outside some of the rules. They also are some of the best scenarios out there in the BoA Community. What I want to know is why you are against this thread. Forgive me for stepping into E's shoes here, but I think that the fact you provide "guidelines" whilst having no practical experience at all is a major bone here. -------------------- And when you want to Live How do you start? And the fact that he put his one "rule" in bold and it didn't make it onto the list while almost everything else has is probably another source of contention. Furthermore, Nikki said a similar thing later on, and Jumpin' Salmon quoted a similar thing from The Creator (again in bold), so it seems to be quite important. Put it on the list. Dikiyoba. *sigh* You know, Dikiyoba, Nikki and Salmon kinda nailed it. I have very little else to say that can be said in a public forum. I eagerly await the release of your scenario, so that I can gauge how well you've followed your own guidelines. EDIT: I just had this pointed out to me... the only designer who's actually released something who posted a few rules was Bain. So your earlier argument holds no water. Sorry for the double post. When I tried the first time, I got a flood warning ( ). Thinking that it didn't get through, I tried again. The results are what you see before you. EDIT 2: To satisfy Ephesos's curiosity, my scenario currently breaks rules #2, #11, and #37. If God should be mad at anyone for excessive posting, it should be the Salmon. He has posted more then I have. Of course, that may be my refusal to double-post for the sake of raising post counts. -------------------- Scenarios need reviews! Please rate these scenarios at the CSR after playing them!
