An occasional double post can be lived with, but a triple post is rather ridiculous. Just edit the old post by adding what you want to say in a new paragraph. The time difference between post 2 and 3 probably justifies separation but there is no reason for 1 and 2 to be separate.

I don't think stone crescents are worth anything, probably to keep people from accidentally selling them. And because it's just a pretty rock, after all.

Dikiyoba's favorite cheat code is igotarock. Why? Because it's there.

Edit: Spelling.

It sounds like avernumnewbie is still stuck in the first half of the school. If so, avernumnewbie, read the rest of this post. If not, disregard it.

1. The exit to the second half of the school from the Administration level is blocked off.
2. You need to free the dragon in the Storage level.
3. Listen to what the dragon tells you to do. Use the record button (the book symbol) whenever you read something important to reference it from the journal (the scroll symbol).
4. The dragon's instructions are relevant to a place in the Holding level.
5. Once freed, the dragon will open the way to the second half of the school.
6. Actually, it just opens the way to a large cavern.
7. At the opposite end of the cavern, however, is the second half of the school.
8. You must explore the Entry level and the Library level before you reach the vahnatai level.
9. In other words, you're a long ways away from finding the vahnatai. Explore! It will all work out in the end.

It doesn't hurt to go adventure elsewhere (say, the first two or three levels of the school) if you haven't already and come back later if you are always getting killed or leaving to recover spell points/missiles.

I have a love-hate relationship with Wal-Mart. Yes, it is overly prevalent. Yes, it is always crowded with annoying people. Yes, Wal-Mart doesn't treat workers properly. But so often it is the only one that sells what I'm looking for. And it has a low price. (Whether this price is reasonable or not is debatable, but I'm not going back to Safeway anytime soon.) And most chain stores are similar to Wal-Mart in some respect and no one attacks them (unless they use "Happy Holidays" instead of Merry Christmas")

Speaking of rampant commercialism, how about Starbucks?

Dikiyoba thinks WinCo is a great store. Too bad it only sells food.

Any topic that manages over a page worth of posts probably won't make sense. Or it makes too much sense, depending on one's perspective. This is just one of the more obvious and more nonsensical than others.

Dikiyoba didn't think the topic made any sense whatsoever until Dikiyoba went backc and read a post that Dikiyoba somehow hadn't read before. Then it all made sense. Too much sense. It's all the space aliens' fault.

Edit: Grammar.

Still no item editor, though. Of course, it could be somewhere and I just missed it. But if there isn't, there's your goal in life once you complete G2 without cheating, MagmaDragoon. If you want an item editor for G2, make an item editor for G2.

It's Geneforge. And Geneforge 2. Seeing the labels without having to scroll through them all is nice, but the deleted slots that don't go away is a terrible feature.

Clearly, I understood your statement differently than you did. My reasoning was there had to be a disaster to put a novice on the island, and that was the sinking living ship. The centuries-old disaster is the disaster that starts the whole Geneforge series. So yes, it is a disaster (and a huge one at that) but in a greater sense than just needing to stick a novice on an island.

Changing subjects, Dikiyoba doesn't mind if Nick Ringer speaks in third person, as long as Nick has a valid reason besides mockery (Nick isn't required to say what it is, as long as Nick has one), does it in a slightly different way than all other third-person speakers, and does it consistently. If Nick can't do that, Nick should use first-person, second-person, or ninth-person.

Edit: Fixed quote, changed sig.

Use a SDF. If the SDF is set to one, have the special encounter end there. If it isn't, then the encounter continues to run. You already have the set_flag command if the party chooses yes. Just add a get_flag at the beginning and {} to enclose everything after else.

if (get_flag(0,1) == 1)
end();
else
{reset_dialog ();
add_dialog_str (0, "text", 0)
;add_dialog_str (1, "text", 1);
add_dialog_choice (0, "Yes");
add_dialog_choice (1, "No");
choice = run_dialog(0);
if (run_dialog(0) ==1)
{set_flag (0, 1, 1);
set_state_continue(11);}}
break;
beginstate 11;
reset_dialog ();
add_dialog_str (0, "text", 0);
break;
Dikiyoba thinks it should work but hasn't tested it.

Welcome back, Commander Edward. It's like you were never even gone. The bad news is you did make a fool of yourself. The good news is that:

1. Very few people care.
2. In a short time, very few people will remember.
3. It entertained everyone.
4. Everyone makes a fool of themselves.
5. Looking foolish is a lot better than being a stupid idiot.
6. Everyone gets insulted by someone eventually.
7. You'll have the chance to insult someone back eventually.
8. Dikiyoba is out of good news, so this line really doesn't count.

Dikiyoba disagrees. The disaster in G1 is that the novice's ship is killed and sunk and so the novice is now stuck on the island. What happened on the island two centuries ago doesn't really count. G3's disaster is just so much larger.

Edit: Now that Dikiyoba has read the article, the advertising doesn't seem so bad. But Dikiyoba's mac is safe from that virus. It was hit by the Y2K4 bug and now it is permanently stuck on midnight, Jan. 1, 1904.

Dikiyoba, too, found a demo of a Spiderweb Software game on a free CD stuffed full of shareware games, some little and complete, some large and demos. Only in Dikiyoba's case it was A2, not any of the Exile games.

All hail those little free demo CDs. They aren't useless!

About the time the forum was in danger of shutting down. Someone wanted to save it. Others agreed. Then someone wanted to destroy it. Others agreed. Then someone wanted to have the last post before it was deleted. Others attempted to outdo that person. Between all that, there have been a few useful posts here and there.

The tiniest spam magnet is still desperately trying to attract and erase all the useless posts in this forum. It's still not working.

That's when the wishing well gets very angry with you. Or maybe becomes happy to know it can solve a wish without having to do anything.

Dikiyoba wishes the wishing well would tell Dikiyoba whether it is angry or happy. Dikiyoba gives it a few coins. Nothing. Well, at least Dikiyoba found somewhere to dump those counterfeit coins.

Well, it is fantasy...

Unusually high tolerence works just fine in the Exile/Avernum series because they are games. If they were books or movies, it wouldn't acceptable. Different mediums require differing levels of complexity.

Dikiyoba was surprised, though not offended, to hear about Elspeth and Nance in A1 because Dikiyoba played A2 first and it's not nearly as obvious there.

The journal is still pretty clunky though. It worked better (at least for me) in the Avernum series (or at least A2, which is the only one I have). I never use it at all for G1 and only rarely for G2 to keep track of who will make me stuff with which ingredients.
