Yeah sure. Intimating ability to intimidate is all that has happened, unless your wordplay has suddenly gained volume with moderatorial responsibility and your ability to play has been likewise reduced. And that would be a shame.

Twelvety seven. But I spend remarkably little time at boards devoted to games I don't play.

The whole 5% argument is just cracking me up. One guy (Webster) defined spelling for the USA. It is far removed from Chaucerian English. Have we descended into nerdism to the point where delta-spelling and delta-grammar must be charted against the decade? For shame. And to think all this came from Aran correctly pointing out that Thralni, by virtue of attempting to learn a foreign language, had made an error.

This thread, in and of itself, should be a warning against all who would attempt translation of anything into a tongue not native or near-native.

Who is we, where on earth have you located universal agreement on anything, and how do you determine sufficency? As far as I see it, you are speaking for one, much like any one of us does on occasions of opinion. The try at ominous use of italics left me underwhelmed.

Oh, and :P I fixed your typo.

This, on the other hand, is extremely quote-worthy. Should there be a scorecard somewhere for keeping track of these things, or do you employ a calendar (one of those day/page things) where you dispose of the page or mark it after making your daily grammar correction? Now, I enjoy a good grammar correction as well as the next guy, but is Thralni the right fellow to receive it? I thnk not. He is too sensitive, too much follow-up discussion will take place, and he is not here to learn English grammar.

:P

I won't bother to misquote Aran on this one because he is mostly correct. Each of the script-based games has certain "thingies" that produce text from within the engine itself, rather than echoing what is visible in the scripts. For example, in BoA there is a Avernumscript function which asks for a choice (Yes/No), based on a number. Code-wise you would not see "There is a lever here, do you wish to yank on it?" Rather, you would merely see some garbage about dialog_preset_options(2).

Of course, you could always entertain an offer to Jeff where you paid him $X, in return he supplied you with GF1 source code and permission to translate and distribute the program in exchange for a percentage of the proceeds. That would be a functional extension of the free-market system without endangering Jeff's primary market, the English and ESL crowds.

Slarty, I still refuse to vote for you. And you know why. As for the rest of you, aside from mini-Bush, what have you done that would prompt this dial-up user to act in a karmic fashion?

Remember, "voting" for Alo is like voting for oxygen...

Oh. Topically, I checked and my karmic function resides right around 4.00, with 22 people registering some surprise at my presence. Go figure, maybe I need to start gay-bashing or TM-hating to push up the population size of my sample.

This message board has become an extension of a comic strip and a comedy script.

So far, TM has been crucified, killed, and banned. What's next?

I'm sure it's only because you don't know him well enough yet, but TM is also Spidweb. It hardly bears mentioning when he appears in two places at once with different PDNs.

The most recent incarnation of P.E.#1 has been credited with 4 posts, only one of which is on the "most recent posts" list, as post #0 of the Public Enemy thread.

How do we excuse that Alorael is the title holder for that post? Is he also Public Enemy #1? Or (a far more likely scenario) has Arancaytar begun his subversive plot to have all other moderators excommunicated (or shivved, depending on opportunity) so that the ascension can happen as scheduled (a week from this coming Tuesday)?

Inquiring, enquiring, etc. minds are waiting.

It's almost as if the author is implying that established members of the community can do anything to influence the direction taken by the community.

In 12 Acts, which is what makes it different.

Sounds like the new boy needs to tread lightly. Amazingly, I'm also starting to feel that jokes are like bread. Nonetheless, fixed your typo.

Umm, that sounds like campus police level stuff. How about members in good standing post questionable materials, that while not breaking the CoC, may stretch it somewhat. You know, like maybe post some gifs before the patent expires, or a quote from a copyrighted work. With no attribution....

Anyhow, with new meat at work for several hours, there is plenty of time to iron out the details.

;)

Holy cop-out Batman!

Not only does the new mod-bot not stay stable long enough to do the job, but it also can't finish words.

:P

Edit - How long do we have to haze the new guy? I was thinking 1 week was appropriate, but I forget if it has already been 5 days. *i?

flip_terrain does work. In testing, it switched from doorlever.txt to specobj.txt when the graphic changed.

Of course I'm assuming this is for within a town script, as it should be.

You know? I should go fishing more often if this hilarity is the result of a day on the water. I racked my brain cell trying to find a comparison, the closest I came up with was Mexican soap opera.

This place rocks.

Now shut'er down. You only get 1 hour in 24.
