I'm sorry for your loss.

I also back the fact that you should give respect to him even if you didn't know him. He did his part in securing your freedom.

Was he a Christian?

You soul is simply the essence of everything that remains of you when you die and move on into the afterlife, so you could say your spirit, since then you will lose your physical body to rot to dust while your spiritual body lives on.

Mind, your quote of my post about wealth didn't contain the paragraph after you quoted, which explained that because you're rich doesn't mean you're ungodly and are going to hell. But you also must realize that people like Bill Gates do give away huge amounts of money, but they still remain the rich people they always were. Remember the story about the widow who gave two small coins into the offering, but it was all she had. She therefore gave more to God than someone who gave a lot of money, but still kept most of it for themselves.

Why God created us is a thing I usually just attribute to another ununderstandable attribute of God. But like I said, I think the longing for companionship was a big contributor. He created us in his own image and with the same general characteristics, but we're not supernatural and confined to a world with three spacial demensions. He made us masters over all the animals and gave us the ability, through Jesus dying on the cross, to not just meet all our deserved destruction for all our sins. Jesus has the power to forgive those sins and help us meet the sinless requirements of heaven.

However, I never plan to drink alchohol. It usually causes things that clear the road to jail for one thing, and the lightened feeling would lead to more depression after it wears off. This is from what I've heard, of course though, so that's just MHO.

(In response to Thuryl)

Also for this reason, people are never satisfied with what they have and always want something more, because if you're used to having this level of living "handed to you on a silver platter," to gain that same kind of surprise and achievement, you need more and more.

Kind of like a tobacco addiction. :P

...Because there'd be nothing to argue about on Spiderweb. :P

I'd just like to say that while some bad people are rich on Earth, some criminals are successful, some impoverished people are God-fearing, and some kind people are never treated kindly back, this is only our earthly live. We will all face a final judgement when the time comes, and someone who hasn't accepted Jesus and devoted their life to material wealth will not get to heaven while that poor God-fearing person will. Then the rich and lucky will wish they had lived differently.

Indeed, the Bible says that people should not store up treasures on Earth, but treasures in heaven. For this reason, it also says that that it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to inherit the Kingdom of God. But that doesn't mean there's no hope; even a dirty rich Devil-worshipping man can make it to heaven if he turns from his ways.

I'm not saying that being rich is a bad thing. I'm just saying that the richer you are, generally the more you focus on your possessions and the less you focus on God. And without your focus on God, your life loses it's purpose.

I did not say that. I said that your God created sinners intentionally and consciously, according to your religion.

I also do not believe in heaven or hell, so that is completely irrelevant.

Believing that God is both omnipotent and merciful, in my opinion, is a paradoxal religious view.

That's because you've never known anything to be omnipotent and merciful, but God is.

Aside from sensical not being a word... It makes sense to me. I very often have a physical tingling sensation when I worship, pray, read the Bible, and write stuff like this. I have felt it over and over and over. I cannot, by my own power, replicate the feeling, but it has been replicated so often that I cannot scientifically deny the connection. I do A, B happens. Again and again and again. Cause and effect. I cannot show it to you but it is proof to me.
What you feel is simply faith, not the will of God.

What she feels is simply the will of God.

A worthy effort to riposte my words.

Nobody ever know the exact will of God, but like Gizmo said, he can give us clues.

Or is this just you saying 'There is no God. He does not talk.'?
Nearly.

If there is a God, which I see as impossible, then He either decides to remain silent or constantly lies.

It's striking how much of His own laws God breaks.

Sure, the Devil does. Maybe that's because that's where you hear all those lies. Just because he remains silent sometimes means he lies when he speaks? It doesn't make sense.

Not near as much as they would have in hell.

You just can't think of a good argument for it because it's so true.

You have no proof that this "peculiar sensation" is not just a simple psychological phenomenon.

If God exists, your claim is not necessarily correct.

It happens often when she prays. You can't attribute every spiritual anomaly to a pshychological phenomenon. Tell me exactly which one this must be.

Then why is a ceremonial burial so melancholic?

Think of how many people that person might have brought to Jesus and ultimately to heaven with them.

This is also a cop out. You formed your comment to me on the basis that God does exsist, and I formed my question of you on the basis that God does exsist. Please form your answer on the basis that God exsists.
If you ask me to regard the subject as a religious person, my answer is yes. However, the fact that God creates murderers does not mean that they do not need to be imprisoned for our safety.

God created people that choose to be murderers instead of law-abiding citizens. It's really there fault. It's a good example of free will.

So, I'm going to say it would be hard for a gay to be a good Christian and a lot harder to earn their ticket to heaven.
Do homosexuals disadvantage you in any way, short-sighted idiot?

Discrimination is illegal. You should be cautious.

Don't call me a short-sighted idiot and read my above post.

That's because you probably haven't read the topic yet (in it's entirety, which is getting longer and longer).

So we're back to talking about homosexuals. No, I don't know any homosexials and they haven't disadvantages me per se, but I'm just telling you it was a wrong thing to do. I'm sure many of you are hetrosexual and have nothing to do with homosexuals, but you still argue to defend them. So stop criticizing me for that.

quote:
1 Corinthians 6:8-10:
8Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers.

9Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

There you go. You see that homosexuality is against Christianity. Therefore it's against God, and, since God is perfect, it's a bad and perverse thing to do.

tMind - My "Binary Code" is actually binary for 4808.

Because we'd all be rulers of the universe next to him.

God created Adam and Eve sinless and faultless, but their human nature caused them to sin, and therefore mankind because imperfect. Only God can forgive us of our sins. I think God created people in the first place because he wanted companionship. It would be no fun to be the absolute ruler of everything, which is nothing. He gave humans souls and spirits, so they could accept him, worship him, and spread his word. However, the Devil, after trying to overpower God, was out of heaven and into sin, so he still trys to win souls of people, which he does by keeping people from believing in God with all their various doubts.
