Just a Question. I was wondering how many people feel that the exile series is better than the Avernum series. I have to Go with Exile because it is unbeatable imo. -V- Posts: 24 | Registered: Thursday, April 21 2005 07:00 |

Please please please not again. The next 30 posts below summarized: - TM, Creator and almost everyone else of the BoE crew will argue that due to Blades of Exile alone, the Exile series beats Avernum, - Several newer designers will point out that Blades does indeed rule, but it is Blades of Avernum that rules more, - Other members will give their voice either to Exile (the "purists"/the "nostalgic"), or to Avernum (the "modernists"). - A horde of newbies will say they don't care crap about those "scenario makers", because the games have far too much confusing plot, and will argue that Exile and Avernum suck compared to Geneforge, - The rest of Spiderweb will alternatively post "Oh no not again", "Shut the crap up you noob", or just " ", while the more vocal of members will post images like this... or this. Or worse. Then, Alorael or Imban or some other kind soul will lock the topic, and we have peace again until the next newbie makes this thread. I'm one of a kind: Nethergate is obviously the best out of all the games. Yes, it beats Exile and Avernum. And Blades. There, that makes me feel special. -------------------- "Son--err," her father said, "I mean... Daughter, I give you your first and only sword. Use it for with skill for great villainy." Nethergate happens to be my favorite as well, though that's mostly due to my inability to cope with BoE's engine. -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. What? We aren't nice. It's quite simple. We restrict topics from being made if both "Avernum" and "Exile" are in the title. You all know my opinion... *cough*Exile*cough* -------------------- The critics agree! Demonslayer is "a five star hit!" raves TIMES Weekly! "I've never heard such thoughtful comments. Okay, let us consider this a welcome topic instead. Welcome, Dyl! You have learned the first lesson in Spidwebbery: leave your sanity at the door. You have also learned the second: Exile and Avernum make for a good but fruitless argument. —Alorael, who will provide enlightenment as to the nature of the third lesson: it is better to ignore angry people than to provoke them. They are undoubtedly more experienced at dishing it out than you are at returning it. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

The fourth lesson being: Oldbies who make funny of you always use "hilarious" (read: makes no sense) degrading statements. Yet, any insults you throw, regardless of content, is considered immature and incorrect, and you are painted as an over-weight Nazi-lover. In other words... it's impossible to win. People always have their favorites. Don't get in arguements. -------------------- The critics agree! Demonslayer is "a five star hit!" raves TIMES Weekly! "I've never heard such thoughtful comments. The fifth lesson being: On Spiderweb, minds work differently. As an example, the adequate reaction to finding a thread you disagree with is posting an image of a goat. Anyone who has been here for longer than half a year understands this, though few can explain it (and those who can, don't want to). Different culture, different customs. Eventually, it will all make sense, if you stay long enough. The downside: The outside world will make a whole lot less sense. :P -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! The sixth lesson: He who posts “I added one more” shall be a newbie until they refrain from doing so. Treasure these six lessons, and you may survive a day in this strange and twisted realm that is the Spiderweb boards. Wasn't this topic going to be used as target practice for Alorael? Edit: Welcome to SpiderWeb. I would say Exile is better, but seeing as I have not played Avernum before, my opinion will be discarded. Edit 2: (small milestone) 250 posts. Welcome Dyl! Are there any Guinnes around that you would care to share with the rest of us? (it has been months since I've tasted one because in this distant and pedestrian outpost we get no Guinnes) Nethergate. (Exile: because. (Nostalgia in part, purism (yikes, it sounded like purina for a second), and BoE.) (Avernum: because. (can't beat how most humans look the same, I love the fake three dimensional landscapes, many other reasons, and BoA) (Geneforge: Because. (hmmm, well I have many good reasons, I hope, since I've invested too many hours playing them) Not Quite SpiderWeb But Still Related In A Way: (SubTerra: Because I've downloaded the demo at least half a dozen times, but I never get myself to register it and I know I darn well should) (Richard White Games: because I've never played any of them except: (Homeland: I reserve the rationale for this one since it will be engraved in my tombstone and I'm too superstitious to say anything.) -------------------- quote:Random Jack Vance Quote Manual Generator Apparatus (Cugel's Saga) Posts: 604 | Registered: Sunday, June 20 2004 07:00 |

NOOOOOOOOOOO! Can we maybe add to the CoC that Exile vs Avernum, Mac vs PC and Slith vs Nephilim are topics which shall cause the topic starter to be locked in the bunker with a scribbane starved Alorael, a raging TM and a hungry Wolf.... I will supply sandwiches for the audience. -------------------- I am a pale shadow of the previous self. quote: Deep down, you know you should have voted for Alcritas! I would just like to point out the fact that it is neither JadeWolf's nor Spring's place to accuse others of being n00bz. Goats are used in homage to the infamous Goatse.
