They have a right to, certainly, but most likely they wouldn't be listened too, as it's been so long.

quote:

Situation B) Suppose Mr C sells the painting at auction. What percentage, if any, of the proceeds of the sale are Mr A's family entitled to?

25% at most. After all, it's ben so long, and they weren't really expecting it back. So 25% is definitely high enough.

quote:

Situation C) Suppose the painting has been mostly destroyed by moisture, mould and rats during its time hidden under the floorboards. Does Mr C owe Mr A's family any financial compensation for the destruction of the painting?

No. Mr C's totally innocent in all of this. If we held relatives to blame for everything, we'd still be in the Dark Ages. MR B stole the painting. Mr C has done nothing but inherited it. Mr A's family is the same: they've just inherited the fact that the painting was stolen.

quote:

Situation D) Suppose Mr A is still alive when the painting is discovered. If it's Mr A himself who's asking for the return of the painting or compensation for its loss, do any of your answers to the above three situations change?

Well, if Mr A is still alive, then he'll probably want ti back, and as it was his in the first place, then he should get it back.

For Exile 3:

Early on in the game:

1)Vahnatai Warrior
2)Vahnatai Mage
3)Wizard
4)Captain

At the end of the game:

1)Pack Leader
2)Vahnatai Lord
3)Mad Monk :P
4)Empire Archer

Oh well, seems like we're all pretty similar.

I'm not sure if it will work, but putting a call that changes the day to "Day 366" or whatever will probably put it forward a year.

The only problem is, I'm not sure how many days are in an Avernic Year...

Avernum 4 Poll in General

When I first saw it, I was shocked. But thenI sloged through reading all 6 pages on Avernum 4, and realised that that was the preliminary view. The storyline looks similar to A3, but then again, A1 & A2 were pretty similar, with the exception of the Vahnatai.

I think I'll wait for it to come out. I'll probably get it to be honest. I have the rest of the series so it's just the next one. Though I really hope to complete Avernum 2 before it comes out.

Oh well, now I just have to wait. I just hope that the inventory pictures will look as good as in the others.

quote:
Never played A1, not sure if I should buy it. Im not sure I can manage all the old school graphics and the ancient interface that has been upgraded with each new game, as well as the spell system, which will probably include all the spells I hate.

:slash:, Avernum 1 is practically identical to Avernum 2. The only real "main" difference I have found are there are no Capture Sould/Simulacrum spells, and you can't use the right-mouse button to search things. And if you've played the others, it really helps your knowledge of Avernum.

And also, it's just nice being a "Knight of Avernum". :D

What kind of spell is best to fight the golem?

I use acid spray and firebolt when out of energy.

Couldn't you just pretend that the town cast light, while in actuality the terrain around the town was a lighter colour? That way it would look slightly "Lighter", without the terrain actually giving off light.

However, this would have to be the right level of lightness to work.

Oh well. It's an idea anyway.

All of you who've won Undead Valley:

I've finally updated my site, (going to change my sig in a minute to reflect this) because of certain tech difficulties. Now that it's fixed though, the Hall of Fame is working again. And this is the problem...

A few of you who've won (I certainly hope it's not all of you!) have emailed in the code to me while I had the difficulties. Now that it's been fixed, I've been putting up in the UV Hall of Fame all of the names and details I could get my hands on. However, I think that one or two might have slipped through my email storage, and been deleted. So I'll need you to see if you're one of them!

Also, I forgot to puit this in the scenario itself, so it's probably my fault, but not everyone actually told me whether they were on WINDOWS or MAC. I would really like to know, so it looks a LOT neater.

Anyway, to condense this for you: If you have COMPLETED Undead Valley, and wanted your name on the Hall of Fame/emailed in your details, please use the link below to go to the Undead Valley Hall of Fame, and see if anything's wrong with what I've got. Thanks! If there is something wrong, please email me, PM me, or just post the problem here, and I'll get to work on it as soon as possible.

If the URL looks weird, it's because I'm using a sub-domain off mum's business server.

The site: (please go to "My Scenarios" and then choose "Undead Valley" and "Hall of Fame" It's done like this cause it uses two separate frames)

http://micael.tamarvalleyart.com

Thanks, and I hope that I'll have it all fixed soon.

EDIT: 1000 posts finally!

Personally I find that even with the huge XP penalty, Divinely touched is a really helpful character trait.

Anyway! Good luck! I just won A1, know A3 off by heart, and am playing A2, so email me if you need any help.

Well, personally, I find that a "Soldier", a "Cleric", a "Mage", and a "Mage/Cleric/Archer" is the best combination.

But that's just me.

All of their types are custom (They aren't actually those above types, just have insane training in them), as I normally give each character at least 1 level in Priest skill, so they can heal themselves.

But it's just how you like to play. You may want a singleton, or whatever. Most peopel who've polayed exile complain about the loss of two PC slots, but as I always played with 4 chars anyway...

Good Luck!

Protecting Pictures in General

Guys,

I need to be able to "protect" my pictures when I put them up onto mum's website (so people can't just click on them and press save). Is there a way, using Javascript, that I might be able to do this?

I'm sure that I can come up with something weird to do this (putting transparent boxes in front of the pictures), but using the proper method would probably be best.

Thanks.

The Website in question is here

Go to the CARDS section, and press on the pictures, it brings up a larger version of that picture. Those are the ones I want to protect. I'm uprading it to use Javasript popup (instead of opening a new file), but that addition isn't currently online.

I hope you can help...

The problem with ALT + TAB is that it doesn't minimize the program, it just puts it "behind" the thing(s) you called up. And if the windows are different sizes... So if you're trying to hide things, the WIN key is probably better, but if you're just flipping through things, use ALT + TAB.

Hope that helps!

And WHEN are you going to base it. Before the tain has been destroyed, or after Rand got rid of it?

The password to talk to the statues is "Divulge", they won't tell you anything unless you say that.

Thanks for all of your help!

Once I'd gotten in and talked to Aydin, the rest all fell into place. And after I killed Hawthorne, I got these nice fancy 3 screens going over the three major quests I completed.

So I've won Avernum! Now onto Avernum 2 for myself!

One thing that really annoys me is that I can't tell Micah about:
1) The exit to the surface
2) I assasinated Hawthorne

Go my party! Knights of Avernum! :D

Is all of your essence gone? If it isn't Thuryl's probably right. If it has all gone, either you used up every last speck of it, or there is something wrong...

Have you tried SHIFT + D, and then typing in "rechargeme"? This should recharge your essence to what you SHOULD have (after excluding variables such as creations etc.)

Hope this make sense, and i'm not just repeating what's already been said.

Anyway, some people just can't be bothered to look for the right line of code and delete it, so it makes a FEW people do it.
