Didn't he say something about the tutorial being more action-filled than before? Maybe the whole Isle of Bigail gets pummeled underground, causing Anama to become avernites' problem!

..or then not. What did we learn about this, kids? Never post when you're tired!

Just to throw more wood to the fire, I just introduced a side character of my own. Hail to Augustus's murderer!

Also, premonition, there's no denying that your character desperately needs that bath. So don't make her go all hydrophobic, it'll just make things even harder!

... I feel dizzy after writing and checking all that.

The setting sun was painting the huge domes and towers of the temple with all imaginable hues of red and orange, as a lone man made his way inside. Most pilgrims of the day had already left, with the few remaining worshipping their less admirable gods in the small, dark alcoves and chambers of the building. The man did not care about them, instead firmly striding towards the more noteworthy part of the building: the twenty major altars, devoted to the best known and most powerful of the gods. Most of them, such as the altar of love and the altar of war, were completely covered in all sorts of offerings, ranging from food to jewelry; the priests would be very happy to collect them. Some altars were less popular, having only few sacrifices brought to them, such as the altar of knowledge. And then there was this one altar, made of a large chunk of grey granite, which had gained no offerings at all. It was this altar that the man was interested in. Respectfully, he took his cape and hat off, kneeled, and uttered a small prayer. Sighing deeply, he rose up and carefully placed his offering on the stone

"What kind of a world is this, where no-one pays attention to the only certain thing in life?" he muttered while arranging a bunch of white roses to a blue clay jar. Each rose had a red ribbon tied around the stalk, and each ribbon had a named inscribed on it; names of the people the man had killed.

Once, he had thought that it was the most obvious place in the world; that he would surely get caught by leaving such clues to the guards who were chasing him. But they had never even thought about it. And some part of the man's soul had lost faith that they ever would...

The man's name was Isaac. He had worked for the Assasins' Guild for 17 years now, and during those years he had killed countless of people. He was perhaps the most expensive, and definitely the most skilled, murderer within a hundred-mile radius of Kirkwood. Few people knew it, though. It was part of his job to remain unknown.

Still, Isaac wanted to be found. He wanted someone to stop him, as he had long become unable to do so himself. He left clues and trails, but they still didn't find him. They never paid attention...

"I'm still certain you'll find me, though", he muttered to the altar and smiled. A single tear ran down his dark cheek. He kneeled one last time, picked up his cape and hat, and left. Few late worshippers of the god of love, or someone else as insignificant, came across him as he strode away from the temple. Ignorant fools Isaac thought, hoping that one day, he could again become one himself. His pains weren't eased by the knowledge that his hope was in vain...

---

He? Who? Me? Marras wondered and again scratched his head. He did not hope or expect to understand his strange companion, but her words still gave birth to many, many questions. Somewhere in his mind, Marras decided he would get answers to them, sooner or later, in whatever ways necessary.

Still not looking at Lauraziel, he opened the door and stepped inside...

It was a rather nice place, for still being outside the city walls. Marras had noticed it was called "The Smiling Lighting", or something equally ludicrous. There was a big, decorated bronze chandelier hanging from the ceiling, and a happy fire was burning in a fireplace build to the west wall. The few customers who were immediatly visible looked surprisingly wealthy; supposedly, they were merchants who either didn't (yet) have the money to spend night at the better parts of town, or they simply hadn't been let in, for whatever reason. It's quite late already, maybe the city gates have been closed? he thought as he made his way to the reception counter.

"Lighting will get them, like the door", Lauraziel said with a gleeful smile on her face, and then suddenly burst into tears. "It's sad, they're so pretty... they're all so pretty..." Marras decided to ignore her.

"Uh, how can I serve you?" a middle-aged, raven-haired woman asked from behind the counter. Two years and seven months before harvest, Marras found himself thinking as he dropped a couple dozen, dirty copper coins on the counter. "A room for two, please", he said. The receptionist gave a skeptic look to the coins, and then turned back to Marras.

"I'm sorry, all our private rooms are full", she said. "Maybe a place in the common room...?" It had been hard to notice, but she had given Lauraziel a disgusted look. Marras found himself mildly offended by it. So this is the game you want to play, eh? he wondered.

"That's too bad. Maybe these will help?" he said and stretched his hand. The strings inside twitched and reformed, eventually spitting out four, large and perfectly circular pieces of gleaming yellow metal. Of course, the receptionist just saw a tattered adventurer digging something out of his back-pocket. Her eyes still widened in amazement.

"Um, well, one of our regular customers hasn't shown up today..." the receptionist muttered, still staring at the gold coins, as if their existence was too good to be true. "I suppose I can give his room to you. Of course, if he does show up, you'll have to leave, but..."

"That arrangement is fine. Can you show our room to us?" Marras replied. In the corners of his eye... well, his vision anyway, he could see Lauraziel staring at the fireplace and swinging from side to side in the rhythm of the flames. She was also humming softly.

"Oh, yes. Follow me" the receptionist said after searching a small box for a large, iron key. She then stepped around the counter and walked to a door in the east corner of the lobby. "You can come now", Marras spoke to the dircetion where Lauraziel was standing, in hope she would get the hint. She gave him a confused look, but followed nonetheless as Marras followed the impatient receptionist through the door. Behind it was a small stairwell, leading to the cellar and upper levels of the building. To Marras's relief, they went up instead of down, to the second floor of the inn. The receptionist stopped infront of the fourth door on the left; its keyhole was covered in curious, purple runes. "Is that our room?" Marras asked.

"Yes", she said and smiled. "As you can see, master, we have our ways of ensuring our customers' security."

So, I'm a master now Marras thought sarcastically as the receptionist unlocked the door and handed him the key. "One more thing", he added as the receptionist was leaving. "Can you bring me a bathtub and some hot water? A small meal wouldn't hurt either..."

"Whatever you say, master" the receptionist hastily replied and then hurried back the way they had come. She managed to smile at Lauraziel also, but still gave her lots of room to get past. The sight made Marras chuckle inside.

The room was rather nice, with a neatly decorated dresser and fireplace of its own, not that either were very necessary. The beds were also tidy, with recently washed linen sheets. There was also a pile of pillows and blankets next to the beds. Marras also wondered whether they'd be of any use; he himself had developed a habit of not sleeping, as it didn't really help his new body in any ways. She might be a different case, though, he thought while Lauraziel made her way to the room. I wonder how this'll work out...

A weird thought just struck me...

Jeff said that the Anama are back. He also said the starting position would be completely different.

Am I the only who's imaging a connection between these two sentiments?

I wonder whether Tuoni made a mistake, sending Marras to Sliros. With his attitude being what it is, even Lauraziel might turn out to be a more useful contact than he...

Premonition, I'm impatiently waiting for you.

I so wish I had eyes to close, Marras thought as he was desperately trying to avoid looking at the woman. She had not answered his question, but he know had a good hunch what she was: a homeless, starving, insane god, but a god nonetheless. If his mind would've been fit to grasp the irony at the moment, he probably would've laughed. But his mind was still reeling from the plunge it had taken, and a part of him believed it would never fully recover. What does it mean when one stares into the eyes of madness, and sees one's self? he pondered while watching the woman slowly rock from one side to another. The strings his body was composed of were twitching nervously, as if the souls inside had been thrown out of balance because of her.

"If you really want to know, my name is Marras" he replied after a while of thinking. "If you really want to, you can come with me. I, too, need a place to stay for the night, it won't be too much trouble if I pay for you also..."

"That's great! I hope we get to see many pretty fish, too!" she replied, her gaze wandering around wildly but aimlessly. Marras turned his head around just to make sure he would never again catch glimpse of her eyes. The mention of fish made him even more nervous. Can she read my thoughts?, he wondered, And if she can, what does it mean? These thoughts caused many unpleasant memories flood into his mind. How many times he had felt like loosing a part of himself while absorbing one of the dying?

"Every single time", he muttered as he slowly began walking walking away from the alley, towards the city walls and better parts of Kirkwood. He stopped periodically to listen whether the woman was still following him; he never dared to actually look, in fear of seeing the golden sea of her insanity again. And so, the gods of lunacy and death slowly made their ways through the streets, unknown to and unnoticed by the mortals. Maybe it's true that ignorance is a bliss...

A modern world horror game with some small fantasy elements thrown in. Or some REALLY BIG elements. With tentacles. With the word 'cosmic' abused wildly.

Yeah, that'd be neat. And cute too. Oh, I'm so silly.

Remember that Marras has a habit of absorbing dead things. It will certainly be intresting if he ever makes it to Trantite...

As a HUGE sidenote, I beg premonition and Ephesos to hurry with their ICs.

Marras waited. And waited. It didn’t bother him, he had time. More time than anyone could imagine.

Once, his friends had asked how he maintained such calmness. He had answered that it came with the profession; fishing was all about patience, so those who didn’t develop some, were clearly doing the wrong job. It was ironic how that sentence also applied to his new work. They’re all just fish not yet caught in the net, he pondered as he watched people pass by. Most of them didn’t even notice the tall, pale traveller as they walked past him; only few were kind enough to wave at him or give him a smile. Marras waved back at them. Smiling, however, was a different thing altogether. Marras had no eyes, no nose, no mouth. No face, to put it bluntly, he thought. Of course, it didn’t stop people from thinking that he smiled back at them.

It was rather funny, actually. He had never done any active attempt to hide his nature from mortals, yet they still seemed to view him as human. Even most of whom he had absorbed had seen him as the man he had been a long, long time ago. I wonder if it works on gods too, he thought, although it was highly doubtful.

As the day began turning into evening, more creatures joined the old crow to feast on Augustus’s body. Some even brought more souls to Marras. He picked them up from the ground, and suffered the usual dose of memories and mixed feelings. The world around him dissappeared as the memories of the dead consumed his mind...

Somewhere in Kirkwood, an orphan child had starved to death. Her last thoughts were of extreme hunger and bitterness...

Somewhere else, a woman had taken some opium to relieve her stress. Unfortunately, she had overestimated the amount she needed. At least she died happy.

In the classier parts of Kirkwood, a man named Athras had gotten himself mixed in a bar fight. For his misfortune, one of the other participants had carried a knife. His surprise, as well as Marras’s, was great as a sharp pain suddenly pierced his abdomen.

After the souls had finally found their places inside him, Marras returned to the end of the alley and continued surveying the road that led towards the town center. Somewhere, someone was still looking for him. “I am here” he whispered, although he was sure it was in vain. Then it happened.

“I’m hungry”, he heard a weak voice say behind him. Slowly, he turned around to see who it was. He wasn’t a bit surprised to see a dirty woman wearing even dirtier rags. He still wondered how he hadn’t sensed the woman’s presence before, but that was a small matter.

“I’m sorry, but I don’t have any food with me”, he replied monotonously. The woman looked back at him, with tears in her eyes.

“Don’t lie!” she cried. “You have food! I know you have! I can sense it! Don’t lie!” After this, the woman’s voice abated into weak, incoherent whispers and sobs. Marras scratched his head, trying to desperately figure what to do.

“Uh, I’m sorry” he muttered. “I – I can buy you some food to you if you want. I don't have much money either, but it should be enough...” Then, he made a mistake: he looked into her eyes. The other was blue, piercing and beautiful, but ultimately harmless. But the other…

They say that eyes are mirror of the soul. Marras’s body had no eyes, but neither had it really a soul of its own. And when Marras peered into the gleaming, golden eye of the strange woman, he saw himself as what he really was: a faceless, soulless rag doll, a marionette with its strings severed. Never before had he felt himself so...so... insignificant.

“Who are you?” he whispered with a wavering voice after he finally managed to wrench himself away from her maddening gaze.

Nalyd, you made me curious; how exactly does Seoth know about my character's existence. Did he speak to Tuoni at some point? I'd like to know, 'cause that might have significance to the storyline of my character. Especially it might affect why Marras was sent to Sliros, and, as your character seems to be his mortal enemy, that might have a drastic effect on my character if he one day learns of Seoth.

As a side note, I'll wait till Eph posts again before writing any more IC.

Ephesos, it' likely there are slummy areas inside the town, too (especially in the old town, I'd think). I just added the one surrounding the city walls because that usually happens when a walled city keeps expanding; newcomers who can't afford living in the better areas are forced to built their homes outside the protective barriers, and as they usually have to build their houses on their own, the work is rather crappy.

BTW, the red dagger is supposed to be the mark of the Assasins' Guild or some other illegal organization. Suit yourself.

The sight was far less grim than Marras had expected, but puzzling nonetheless. There was a man, dressed in expensive-looking, purple silk clothes, lying on the ground with a huge gaping wound on his chest. What the hell is he doing here? Marras wondered, when two other details caught his attention. First one was a red dagger painted to a wall behind the victim. Marras had no idea what it was supposed to mean. The other was much more familiar to him: someone had placed a white rose with a red ribbon tied around its stalk next to the body. He carefully picked up.

Well, Tuoni still has at least one follower he thought as the flower disintegrated in his hands. He then kneeled beside the body and prepared to absorb it, when an angry croak stopped him.

Oh, you got here too, he thought as he stared at a huge, old crow. The strand of white silk was lying on its feet. Without waiting, Marras rose up and stepped aside from the body. Might as well see if this really works he pondered as the crow picked up the silk strand and flew on the body's chest. It gently touched the man's lips with the strand, dropped it to the ground beside the body, and then happily proceeded in to pecking the man's splitted heart out. Marras, in turn, picked up the strand and let it search its place in his body. The usual ensued.

The man's name was Augustus. He had been a remarkably successful merchant, shipping valuable goods (some not entirely legal) up and down the river Eos, gaining incredible wealth in the process. He had lived a happy life, untill engaging in a large-scale smuggling operation. That operation didn't go very well, and as a result, Augustus had gained the wrath of the Thieves' Guild on his heels. That ultimately resulted in his assasination in this distant corner of Kirkwood, far from his bodyguards and friends. Marras was filled with terror of unusual intensity as images of Augustus' murderer flashed in his mind.

"Please, avenge me!" the soul whispered before vanishing into Marras' body. And just why should I do that? Marras wondered and sighed. It was not his job to go around dealing divine justice; there surely was another god for that task, and Marras would gladly let him take care of it in the future also. However, he would seek the assasin out for his own reasons. If nothing else, he deserves to know my predecessor's gone he thought, as he noticed that the air around him had changed.

Somewhere in the city, someone was looking for him. Marras did not understand how he could know; maybe it was just natural evolution of his powers? What he did know was that he desperately wanted that person to find him. "I am here" he whispered, although he knew no-one could hear it. But maybe the seeker didn't need to hear him? I can only wait.

I wondered about the layout of Kirkwood and its surroundings, and decided to collect my ideas to a rough map. The directions are what they are, as I didn't read all the descriptions of the area before making it. We don't necessarily need a map (at least, not a map based on this one), but since there are now more than one god on the area, a way to keep a note of everyone's locations wouldn't be too bad.

The sun was shining it's first, red beams on the cold ground. The night had been much colder than usual; thin frost covered the vast Plains of Array and the merciless northern wind chilled Mark to the bone . "Look, the lazybones finally got up!!" his friends bellowed from the top of the wall as he was climbing up a ladder to reach them.

"Aw, shaddup", Mark muttered and sneezed. During his twelve years as a city guard, he had never been late from a shift before, so it was understandable that his fellows would mock him about it. It still made him annoyed, though.

"So, did anything intresting happen during the night?" he asked when he finally got to the upper end of the ladder. "Well, dere's been dis one little thing" one of the older guards, John, answered and handed a telescope to Mark.

"You see dat?" John asked, "Dat huge flock of birds? They've been circling that hill for hours. I'd like to see what's so damn intresting up there, but we can't see anything through them."

"Uh, what birds are they?" Mark questioned as he peered trough the glass to get a better view. And indeed, behind the slums that encircled the city of Kirkwood a massive whirwind of birds was surrounding around a rock called the "Troll's tooth".

"Ravens, crows, the sort. Scavengers and bringers of bad luck" muttered Luke, one of Mark's younger colleagues. Mark didn't respect him all that much. That boy's too pessimistic, I say, he wondered as something weird caught his attention.

"I don't know about bad luck, but what're those thing they're carrying?" he asked. "What things? Let me see" John wondered as Mark handed the telescope back to him.

"I don't know about you, but to me it seems they're carrying strands of white cloth in their beaks" he answered. Just then, one of the birds detached from the rest of the group and began flying straight towards the befuddled guards. They mutely watched as a huge, ancient crow flew over them; it was indeed carrying a piece of pure white silk. Just then, Luke turned back to look at the hill.

"Look, they're leaving!", he shouted. The other guards turned to look and watched silently as the huge cloud of avians dissipated. "I wonder what was that about", Mark muttered. "Hey, is someone standing up there?" Luke wondered and reached dangerously far over the edge of the wall to see better.

"Yeah, dere is someone", John replied, still staring through the telescope. "Looks a bit tattered, though. Wonder how he managed to attract all those birds?" Each of the guards took one last look trough the scope to watch the weird traveller, before finally returning to their mundane tasks of patrolling the walltop and shouting to low-lives who were trying to sneak to the city trough cracks and secret passages.

It took them a long time to realize what they had actually seen that day. Mark, for example, experienced another 12 years as a guard before having to meet a crow with a silk strand again...

---

Back on Troll's Tooth, Marras watched the birds to fly away from him. Consider that a fair repay, he thought as the last ones disappeared behind the horizon. He had always felt bad for stealing the meals of various wildlife to sustain himself. Now he had finally made up for it: bodies for them, souls for him, food for both.

Marras felt a little woozy as he again began stumbling towards the city. He had never detached so many parts from himself before, and although he was sure he still had scratched only the surface of his new powers, it hadn't been an easy effort.

I need food, and soon he pondered as he finally made it to the slums. Somewhere there, there was sure to be someone dying; Marras only had to find him (or her). But before that, it would be a constant struggle for him to contain himself. All the people around him, both young and old, beautiful and ugly, rich and poor (well, the poor anyway), felt only like potential appetizers. It didn't matter that they had memories, or feelings, or families; heck, even fish had them. And Marras had tried them, oh yes he had. Makes you think a bit differently about your past life he pondered grimly as he finally picked up a diminishing life sign from a shadowy back alley...

(1) What's your main goal in life?
To die happy.

(2) If you won a million dollars, what would be your first thought?
"What the hell am I supposed to do with all this!?"

(3) When you are mad; do you usually stay angry or do you yell to release the anger?
My angriness usually lasts only few seconds before I return to doing whatever I was doing before. I do yell, sometimes, when I want to get a point across and the person making me angry clearly isn't listening.

(4) Tell us an anecdote of anything that happened to you today.
I woke up, late as usual, biked to school, listened a boring lecture, answered a short exam, ate some lunch, biked home, ate some more lunch, went to gym, worked out and biked here. Then I started up this computer, read a few of the newer posts at spidweb, and typed this answer.

(5) What's your current Philosophy on life?
Nothing is real. That still ain't an excuse to act stupidly.

(6) If you created a deadly disease, what would you call it?
The finnish flu.

(7) What should you be doing right now?
There's nothing I should be doing right now. At least, no-one has told me I should be doing anything.

(8) If this were Southpark, what character do you think you'd be?
Kenny?

(9) What occupations you wanted to be when you were a kid ?
I wanted to be a scientist. That's the only childhood dream I can remember.

(10) What happened to those dreams?
I realized becoming a scientist isn't worth the trouble, attended vocational school and will most likely become a plumber in the next 1,5 years or so.

(11) Describe the last dream you can remember.
It had something to do with a dog grieving over a broken chicken egg... Supposedly, it was sad that us humans are so cruel.

(12) If you were a supermodel, which supermodel would you be?
I don't remember any supermodel, nor do I want to be one anyway.

(13) If you had to live in a hole, what kind of creature would you be?
Some sort of a canine. Some particularly nasty looking, horned bug could also do.

(14) If you could have one thing right now, what would it be and why?
A summer job.

(15) Name one thing about you that embarrasses you.
When people, myself included, speak of things they obviously don't know a damn thing about.

(16) Do you usually walk around your house with sandals or barefoot?
I'll soon be walking around barefooted outside too, and my mom will again claim that I make even a bigger mess than our dog...

(17) Have you ever gotten something you really wanted but thought you wouldn't get?
Yes. I was awarded a kind of an honor medal (from being expectionally active etc.) from my fellow scouts some years back. Unfortunately, I lost it only few months later on a memorial march. Forunately, I later attended a leading course, witch donned me a knot that replaces the medal. Unfortunately, I had to leave the course a little early because of high fever, so I never received it...

(18) Name one thing you are presently excited about or fascinated by.
Metallurgy and it's applications. I'm planning to forge a knife sometime soon.

BTW, I finally managed to actually post something - only, umm, few weeks late! Ain't I good?

EDIT: Ephesos, whatever you're about to post, I beg you, post it quickly!

This is letter is roughly five, six years old, and written on fine, gold-framed parchment. It was unfortunately lost in mail before it reached its intended receiver.

”Dear Shamel,
I have concluded my research of diminishing religions as you requested. I don’t know whether my work has much relevance to the current events, but some of my results hint there might be some.

As you know, there have been multiple gods of war, knowledge, suffering and what-not. What you likely don’t know, and what I find quite surprising, is the fact that there has been only one god of death to date. Thone, Tuoni, the Gatekeeper, or whatever you prefer to call him, has served this position as long as there have been gods.

Now, you might ask how this relates to my research. Well, my studies show that during the last 75 years worshipping of Thone has turned from a global custom to almost non-existent. He has never been a very popular god, but it is still a mystery why this sudden change happened. I interviewed few of his priests, both former and current, about this occurrence and they told me that they simply don’t feel the presence of their deity anymore. I believe this is strong evidence that Thone is leaving, or has already left, the pantheon.

At first, I thought this was nothing. Then I went to temple of Burrard to compare some statistics, when one certain thing caught my attention: during those same 75 years there has been a major increase in the number of new deities. In addition, as I got closer to modern day, the newer gods clearly showed tendency to be more malevolent than the older ones.

This might be just a random fluctuation in the statistics, but I’m glad if it helps you in your work. Waiting for our next meeting,
Pius”

I could have as well been totally different; a great sage, revealing the secrets of the dead to mortals in exchange of their life force. The brave would have risked their lives and souls while seeking to learn from me. Thousands of worshippers would have revered me and prayed me to remember their loved ones when they part from this world. But I’m not that kind of a man.

Or I could have become a great warrior, slaying those who displease me, and eating their souls to sustain myself. I would have destroyed whole cities in my wrath, revelling in chaos, and my worshippers would have flooded the altars with blood of the innocents. Who cares, just more wood to the fire! But I’m not that kind of a man either… yet.

Instead, I chose to be a cleaner. Yes, that’s it. Humans and other gods make a mess, and I clean it up. When they die, I will erase their works from the face of this world. In the end, when the stars die and void swallows this world, I will be the only one to remember their deeds… and then I die, too.

Marras scratched his head as he pondered about these things. It had been much easier to choose a profession when he had been a mortal. His father, grandfather and his grandfather’s father, had all been fishermen, so it was just natural that he became one, too. But he wasn’t a mortal anymore, and that was causing him the biggest headache ever.

Pushing annoying philosophical ponderings away from his troubled mind, Marras again concentrated on the good city of Kirkwood. He had questioned several farmers that he had stumbled upon on his way (they had been very annoyed to be awakened in the middle of the night), but no-one had known anything about a guardian god of any kind. Sure, they had had lots of stuff to tell about the various gods of farming and fertility, but that information did little good for Marras. Still, he was somehow sure he headed to the right direction…

Suddenly, a burst of energy swept over Marras, causing his body jump on its feet faster than he had imagined was possible. His consciousness caught up a little later, realizing that the energy was huge amount of life force radiating from somewhere inside the city. Just what the hell is that? he wondered, although the answer was quite clear. He had only felt a force as great before when he had spoken to Tuoni.

Although a part of Marras (and a big part, for that matter) wanted to just run and catch up with the alien god, his more rational side realized he wasn’t ready yet. I have to make preparations, he thought, although he had no idea what sort of preparations he would need to do. Once inside the town, he would need to collect souls much faster to keep his wits about, but there was no feasible way to do that alone. I need companions, he concluded, when a plan started forming in his (proverbial) brain…

I have this Lego Bionicle board game, which totally rocks. Chess is also fun, but no-one else ever wants to play it...

I've tried the earlier versions of D&D, and it was quite enjoyable as long as it lasted. Nowadays, me and my buddies don't have many changes to play, but I'm still looking forward to keeping a Praedor session at some point.

I'm also working on an table-top RPG-system of my own, which will based on normal playing cards. Haven't got far yet though, having problems finding a balance between cards and dice...

I'll try to make a coherent post tomorrow, since it seems I'm not in the right mood to write fantasy now. Be patient...

As far as getting people into the right jobs, though, I think that vocational education needs to come back in a big way. Becoming a carpenter or a mechanic is just as legitimate a career choice as becoming a lawyer or doctor, even if the money is not quite the same. (If I'm not mistaken, I've made this point on these boards before.)

Here in Finland, a skilled mechanic or a carpenter can make more money than a doctor or a lawyer. Plus, they can start making it sooner, as becoming a lawyer or a doctor requires from 6 to 9 years of education after ground school, where as a carpenter or a mechanic can get to work after 3.

- Someone who's in a vocational school himself.
