On the contrary - you've been spared. :) In all seriousness, however, seeing as we seem to have enough marching band members to form a Spiderweb brass ensemble, I think there should be a new round of custom monikers to celebrate this awesomeness. I think he means something more like an "Avernum: Tactics," PvP sort of game. Think multiplayer Civ I or II, which is what it would amount to. I think it could sort of be fun, but it would have a very limited application. It would have to be completely combat-oriented, because the engine doesn't lend itself to two individuals making independent decisions on movement, actions, etc. [ Wednesday, February 07, 2007 11:02: Message edited by: Drew ] Posts: 2242 | Registered: Saturday, April 10 2004 07:00 |

Out of habit and for the moderate entertainment value. It certainly (at times) beats paying attention in class. Posts: 2242 | Registered: Saturday, April 10 2004 07:00 |

Drew is the nickname of my first name. When I started posting here originally, I went by my full name: Andrew Miller. This was abbreviated to "AM," and then I decided just to go with Drew. Posts: 2242 | Registered: Saturday, April 10 2004 07:00 |

Well, a part of it is that there's a lot of bad ska out there, which doesn't help it much. :( Posts: 2242 | Registered: Saturday, April 10 2004 07:00 |

quote:I think some people do prefer aesthetically appealing tools, and it's not limited just to macs. Sony has pretty much carved out a nitch for its VAIO line of laptops, despite being more expensive yet not substantively different from its homelier competition. The aesthetic component of cell phones, pdas, and MP3 players also seem to be big selling points - how else do you explain the craze over the Motorola Razr, despite the fact that it's widely acknowledged to suck? Finally, consider the automobile. For most people, it functions as a tool used to get you from A to B. Nevertheless, its appearance seems to matter quite a bit. w00t for ska! I haven't listened to it much in recent years, but I was a big fan of the Scofflaws and the Pie Tasters. Posts: 2242 | Registered: Saturday, April 10 2004 07:00 |

My G3 iBook from 2002 is still humming along too, though it's been relegated pretty much to MP3 hosting duties. If it wasn't for that blasted logic board problem, it would likely play a more prominent role in my life. Posts: 2242 | Registered: Saturday, April 10 2004 07:00 |

Hmm... I've still been listening to The Strokes and Weezer, as well as The Shins, though I'm lukewarm on their new album. I'm trying out Imogen Heap now. Posts: 2242 | Registered: Saturday, April 10 2004 07:00 |

It was a 486 DX 33 (that's 33 megahertz) with four megs of ram and a 120 meg hard drive. I still remember loading "Quest for Glory 4" onto it via sixteen 3.5 inch disks. Interestingly, according to the book Freakonomics, there's been a strong corrolation between an increase in the availability of abortion (read: decrease in unwanted pregnancies coming to term) and a decrease in criminal activity in the last thirty years. I don't think there are grounds for legal action, Aran - it's more a matter of good policy. Since all information posted within the structure of this forum is "public," no one can reasonably have the expectation that information they "publish" remain private. At least ten pushups a day. The goal is to do more, and maybe actually get to the gym, but I've found that having a simple, pragmatic baseline is the way to sustain resolutions. Posts: 2242 | Registered: Saturday, April 10 2004 07:00 |

Seriously, it isn't worth doing for the sake of Spiderweb games - it's well and truly covered by this site. If you wanted to make a forum where all your old Navy pals wanted to post, on the other hand, you might get somewhere with it. Posts: 2242 | Registered: Saturday, April 10 2004 07:00 |
