Years? Wow... Now I feel old. And none of the situations were "awkward", were they? I can't think of any that were anything other than amusing...

And, of course, being confused is not a bad thing. If you knew the truth, you'd be sorely disappointed. Or bewildered.

Disappointed? By your gender?

Perhaps if he was actually a really attractive girl, and I'd been fighting off his-- er her advances all this time? It happens all the time in movies...

Yeah, disappointed... As (I think) Jobriath once said, "I'd rather live in a dream than be disappointed by reality".

Pot. Kettle. :P I've been watching you spread over the boards in the last 30 mins, sowing your posts like so many... erm... can't quite think of a family analogy here, so I'll stop...

I feel dumber just reading that article.

Dikiyoba doesn't agree with that... Dikiyoba's dreams are often pretty disappointing as well. Dikiyoba dies in them too much. That hasn't happened in reality yet. :P

I do believe that Nikki is finally moving on from Arancaytar. And onto Kelandon.

There was never any doubt in my mind as to Nikki's gender. Everything about him screams confused male, which I find very easy to distinguish from actual female.

Attraction of any kind should be found complimentary.

Sometimes. Other times it's annoying, like when you already have a girlfriend and she's standing right beside you.

Fortunately, I do not have to deal with social issues like this.

I'm sure why I'm named Dintiradan. I began thinking that perhaps I've been repressing the memory of choosing my name, so I got some professional help.

quote:
Hello, emacs psychotherapist.

How do you do? What brings you to see me?

I'm fine, thanks. I'm here to ask you about my name.

Why do you say that?

There's a topic on Spiderweb about names.

What makes you believe there's a topic on spiderweb about names?

I can see it on the active topics list.

Is it because of the people you hang around with that you are going
through all this?

Yes. The people on Spiderweb are strange.

Do you really think the people on spiderweb are strange?

There are no doubts in my mind.

How do you reconcile any hobbies you have?

I suppose posting is a hobby.

Is it because of your sex life that you say posting is a hobby?

That's a personal question.

What makes you think that's a personal question?

Well, sex is a sensitive topic.

Are you afraid of sex?

Quit changing the topic.

My secretary will send you a bill.
(Apparently, Spiderweb isn't the only place where discussions gravitate to sex.)

Dintiradan's signature is, as usual, one of the funniest parts of the thread.

Nikki was never ambiguous about his gender, especially when he said that xx gimmick is just an inside joke, or when he posted his pictures in picture threads.

About my online name, it's derived from my real name by such a long process, that it might as well be completely random. One of my first computer game names was Russian translation of Latin root of my real name, transcribed with English letters. When I needed to use a name online, I realized that it was guaranteed to be mispronounced, so I played around with letters to get something that sounds good and is easy to pronounce. Ironically, "Zeviz" is also universally mispronounced, but I've been using it for over six years, so it's too late to change now.

My name? Research 3-headed dragons and ancient myths to find the answer.

I can remember a time when "research" was not synonymous with "google for". :P

Dintiradan, you win points for literally the first ELIZA conversation I've seen that made sense and contained no grammatical oddities at all. You didn't edit it, did you?

This is a hilarious thread. Keep up the good work!

My first name on these boards was Keep, as some of you may remember. I wanted a moniker that conveyed a sense of the impregnability so aptly represented by fortresses. "Fortress" seemed too unimaginative and dull, so I searched for a while for a name with a more resounding pronunciation. However, I clearly failed miserably and settled for Keep.

Later, I started to appreciate these boards and its members more, and so I decided right then that I had to change my name to signify my shift of opinion. Garrison is a real first name, and since it was related to Keep because they are both like forts, I decided to switch to it.

Thus ends a truly pointless story.

My name, as far as I know, is completely random. I'm proud of that, and of the fact that few people can spell it right without constantly checking.

Unless anyone has any ideas of my PDN's relation to anything anywhere, I will go back to believing I am randomly named.

And Nalyd, I have rarely seen you start a topic. Congrats! The last one was under the PDN -X-, eons ago.

I keep thinking "sasparilla," which has sort of weird Old-West connotations to it somehow.

Since I'm not very good at coming up with names, I just ran the random name generator in NPPAngband until it came up with a good name that wasn't either something I might have to worry about misspelling, or something that looked like I had just picked randomly from the Lord of the Rings. Serith was the first that wasn't already being used by too many people on the internet, so that's what I went with.
