Woohoo! I already thought I was one of the only ones here listening to these two. That's two people I know that are listening to Rhapsody on these boards.

Favourite Artist(s): Trivium, Rhapsody of Fire, Kamelot, Apocalyptica, System of a Down, Wintersun, Radiohead, ABBA, Dvorak, Tsaikovsky, Shostakovitsch, John Williams, Klaus Badelt, Wojciech Kilar.

Of which Trivium, Radiohead, Dvorak, Tsaikovsky, John Williams are my favorites of the favorites.

General Time Frame: the Romantic period, nowish...

Favourite Genre: As you can see, my musical taste is quite varried. last time such a "poll" was held, I said I like classical music and only classical music. Now I can say I like classical music, metal and rock.

Depends, if you like WIHaA and Nemo, go with Bless the Child, Ghost Love Score or End of All Hope. If you prefer Wishmaster, go with Nightquest, Gethsemane and She is My Sin. Either way, listen to their cover of Gary Moore's Over the Hills and Far Away and 10th Man Down.

Although I never participated in said thread, I must agree that there is very little to be said of music written after 1980. You will note that the following expanded list of my musical interest still fails to capture many artists from that era.
In addition to Pink Floyd, Bach (JS), Jethro Tull, Neil Young, Debussy, and Tchaikovsky; I also enjoy Paul Simon, Santana, Beethoven, Zeppelin, and The Beatles. Also, some pieces from Springsteen, Queen, Brahms, Chopin, Brubeck, Gershwin, Dire Straits, ZZ Top, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Howard Shore, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Clapton, and Rachmaninoff.

It's become very popular for bands to declare themselves the originators of new genres. With dead guys we have the advantage of assigning them to a genre without having to listen to them argue.

Kel, between what you and Infernal listed, you've pretty much hit the best.
My personal favorites are White Night Fantasy and Sleeping Sun, but these are slower and less hard-rock pieces.

The Silent Assassin has gone out to start a band.
He also said something about homemade vulcanization being the future, but I didn't catch much after he left the room.

Try White Hot or Victory Day, both by Tom Cochrane. Those are my absolute favourites.

Okay... I'll chime in...

I love classical but don't have a favorite.

Favorite bands/artists - Hawkwind (they are what Pink Floyd should have been), REM (mostly their first 4 albums), Johnny Cash, Grateful Dead, Beatles, Rush, the Smiths, Iron Maiden, Edie Brickell, New Order... and so many more.

Hmm... I've still been listening to The Strokes and Weezer, as well as The Shins, though I'm lukewarm on their new album. I'm trying out Imogen Heap now.

Sampled the Killers last night. Not bad but nothing special to me. I like the Bristishness of their sound though.

Hot Fuss or Sam's Town, out of curiosity?

Favorite Artists: Reel Big Fish, Streetlight Manifesto, Fastball, Barenaked Ladies, Jet, The Killers, and Straylight Run before they got all political.
Favorite Genres: Ska, non-emo alt. rock, a bit of classic rock... most things in that neighborhood.

Funny thing about that kind of music. Everyone should listen, but very few actually do. So sad. :(

Well, a part of it is that there's a lot of bad ska out there, which doesn't help it much. :(
