Obviously, these fall pretty neatly into two categories: Classical and Classic Rock. It is not that my interest is actually that narrow, its just that those are those that stand out.

Favorite Artist(s): Guns N' Roses, Green Day, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Iron Maiden, Pink Floyd, Stabbing Westward, The Doors, The Rolling Stones, Rhapsody of Fire, Kamelot
General Time Frame: er, '60s to now, roughly
Favorite Genre: hard rock and heavy metal, and right now I have a particular fondness for power metal, especially Kamelot, Rhapsody of Fire, Helloween, and Lizzy Borden.

I also like the electric organ subgenre in the late '60s, most notably defined by the Doors but also shared by Iron Butterfly ("In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida") and the lesser-known Arthur Brown. Anyone know of other bands from that genre?

Mortiis, but only his old stuff, back when he thought he was a goblin and made cool medieval Nordic music.

Corvus Corax, because they are the kings of minstrels. They not only play medieval music with bagpipes and drums, but they also spit fire, sing, read poetry, and some of them are even puppeteers. Alorael, and all of you who like classical music and whatever, I suggest you check them out. I give you my word as an Emperor that you will like what you hear.

I've also been known to go to various metal concerts, and will always be a fan of the mighty Ozzy. I'm not sure if I actually like the music, or if I just have a morbid attraction to the kinds of people those kinds of bands draw to them.

I've always found it funny how many different names can be given to genres that all sound the same to me. But then, I'm guessing other people feel the same about Classical, Romantic, Baroque, etc...

Artists: Castlevania, L'arc~en~ciel, Flow, Asian Kung-Fu Generation. Lots of video game music.

Also, Bohemian Rhapsody.

As you can see, most of the music I like either has no lyrics or lyrics I can't understand. I guess that way I don't get bogged down trying to parse the words.

Oh wait. I was going to take Scorp seriously there, but the "wide range of taste" is the punchline, I guess.

Didn't we do this topic and come to the conclusion that all great music died in the 70's?

Dire Straits, the Rats, the Clash for me. Oh, and the 77's.
