For any kind of online element, Jeff would have to maintain some server space, an investment which would not necessarily do much for the company's profits. As long as it was all peaceful, I see no reason why they shouldn't have done that. Then, upon reading the reasons, I'm not entirely sure I understand all of them. Facebook and Myspace blockage is annoying, but depending on the institution, you really shouldn't have a ton of time to be screwing around with them anyway. It also depends on the level of institution we're talking about (college, high school, middle school, ivy-league university)... but yeah.
